82 books478 followersI love words, but that wasn't always true. I grew up with a talent for numbers, leading me to follow a different path. I went to Annapolis and MIT and became a nuclear physicist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Only after I retired was my desire to tell stories reawakened.
In recent years, I have immersed myself in the world of words, drawing on my scientific knowledge and personal experience to shape my writing.
As a scientist, I explored physics and technology, which enabled me to create informative and insightful books, sharing my knowledge with readers who sought to expand their understanding in these areas—contributing to their intellectual growth while satisfying my own passion.
But it was my time as a naval officer that ignited my imagination and propelled me into science fiction. After graduating from the United States Naval Academy and serving on nuclear submarines during both hot and cold wars, I witnessed firsthand the complexities and challenges of military operations that seamen face daily.
This allowed me a unique perspective, which I channeled into creating Henry Gallant and a 22nd-century world where a space officer fought against invading aliens. Through this narrative, I explored the depths of human resilience, the mysteries of space, and the intricacies of military conflict.
My stories let me share the highlights of my journey with you. I hope you enjoy the ride. (www.hpeteralesso.com)

There’s been evidence for a while now in this series that the Titans are also in conflict with another alien race somewhere in the galaxy. At the beginning of this novel, those aliens show up on earth—but will they ultimately prove to be friend or foe?
Aside from that extremely important question, Henry Gallant continues to be plagued by political problems as earth’s elections get closer and it appears that his personal enemy, backed by all of those admirals who make disastrous military decisions that Henry has to pull them out of, is going to win the election. It’s not a pretty picture as we, the readers, are quite certain that this will not help humanity win its war for survival.
The heart of this novel focuses upon the first joint military mission between the humans and the new alien race, the chameleons. As usual, Gallant is in the thick of things, but will his allies stay true to their joint cause?
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

Now Commodore Gallant has to defend the Elysium system from the genocidal aliens, the Titans. It so happens his main squeeze, Alaina is living there too. And she's leading a rebellion against the planetary authority, which is basically a company-appointed president.
Main squeeze? Maybe not. She also has a childhood friend she's been seeing for years. Now Commodore Gallant is sent away to do spying on the aliens' home system and some asymmetric warfare as well.
There's also an intelligence agent who has the hots for him. But he can't trust her. Can he?
Finally, the alien's communication system has some mind control elements in it when he taps it. Will his mind succomb?
Entertaining reading!

Just Keeps Getting Better
I'm 65yrs old ( not bragging just fact) and I can't recall a series that got better in the sixth book. Now like I said I'm 65 and can't remember a lot nowadays but books I still remember. This book here was a nail bitter. I'm not going to spoil it for you but if you've got so far as the fifth book and you are Maybe thinking should I read this next book YOU HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK!
All kidding aside Mr. Alesso (author) did one Heck of a job on this sixth book in the series. I have to give it 4 thumbs up. It was so good that I used my wife's thumbs also.

Genetically Enhanced vs. Normal
As always, Alesso tells a good tale. Underlying all of his books so far and elevated even more in this one, is a very disturbing element of what I want to call bigotry or enhanced elitism. The genetically enhanced are assumed by some to be superior in all things regardless of performance. You could compare it to the bigotry of racism. It is disturbing and wrong. Alesso illustrates this fact through the Gallant sagas.

A bit disappointing
While this is a very good book, the unique talents of Henry Gallant were not highlighted. I did not find the same excitement with this book as I did with the previous books in this series. There is a faint hint at the end of the book that maybe, just maybe, Gallant has evolved a new talent or a new expansion of his existing talent. Looking forward to Book 6. I recommend this book.

very good realistic story in the sci-fi/space-opera genre
This book in the series (all worth your time) focuses more on the battle action along with some of the human political issues that are reducing the military’s effectiveness in the war.
Plot lines affecting Henry Gallant’s life and career are laid out so well that I must read it he next book just to find out what happens.
I recommend this series to everyone.

For Fans of Space Warfare sagas
The saga of Midshipman Henry Gallant continues as he rises thru the ranks of the United Planets Naval Services, using his unique set of skills as a Natural (non-genetically-engineered) human who faces an uphill battle with the political infrastructure arrayed against his natural talents, considering him a dangerous lone wolf.

A very good continuation of the storylinell
From the opening lines to the last of this book, it was pins and needles for Henry Gallant, and i was right there with him.
The best part of this is that its sequel is already on my Kindle?! After a few hours to be recharged, it will be waiting for my embrace!

A good fun yarn, if a little unpolished
I can’t help suspecting that the author has never served in the military. The interrelationships lack the feel of authenticity.
The plot is fun and make the books worth reading.

Taking it to the titans
I liked how the story has evolved with the chameleon and the titan home world. I feel like something major will be happening soon but can't figure out which plot line it will happen in.

I really like this series.
I really enjoy the books and hope more books are on the way. It does have some flaws but the story line and characters are done well, keep it it up H. Peter.

Good read
Very good story and especially the backhanded slap at racism. Well deserved also. Great space opera with appropriate barbs for today.

Superb
I enjoy authors who can weave their story by telling the story of the supporting characters alongside the main character. It makes for a more realistic story.

A hot mess
Very badly edited, did not flow smoothly at all. Looked like it was written in a hurry, and reviewed in a hodge pudge manner. So many issues to even try to point out.

Pretty space opera good tale. The writing is definitely getting better but could still use an editor!!!

( Format : Audiobook )
"People will scheme to survive."
Continuing the career, and life, of Henry Gallant, a Natural, in a world of the genetically enhanced. This military space science fiction series is both enjoyable and recommended. This time, again narrated by Rich Miller, the listening is smooth, enhancing the written word with good pacing, articulation, intonation and individually distinctive voicings for the various protagonists. Pictures in the mind: nother good performance.
The Henry Gallant series by Peter Alesso is an easy to read, enjoyable military S.F.work which concentrates on character as well as battles against an alien race, the Titans. Now another race has appeared: will it prove to be friend of foe? This, the sixth book, is, like it's predecessors, recommended reading for all S.F.fans. My thanks to the rights holder of Commodore Henry Gallant, who, at my request freely gifted me with a complimentary copy via Audiobook Boom.

Rushed, illogical, needs a rewrite or the ghostwriter fired. Definitely not to the standard expected. Hope the next one isn't as bad.
