Why are all old-timer YA authors revisiting their debuts these days? First Tahereh Mafi, then Marie Lu, and now Julie Kagawa.

Honestly I think this is linked to the incoming trend of YA authors moving into adult fiction. Sarah J. Mass is set to release Crescent City, and Leigh Bardugo just released Ninth House. I read the original trilogy when I was 12-ish in 2011!!! I LOVED ASH SO MUCH!!!!!!
So, now I will be reading The Iron Fey again because nostalgia is a bitch. Also, I never read Ethan's books (IT'S AMAZING THAT I REMEMBER THE NAMES, YOU GUYS!) and maybe I will give it a try, but as a rule, I hate spin-offs.

I... have no words to describe fully what I'm feeling. I MISSED this world SO MUCH. The first time I heard about The Iron Raven, I was ECSTATIC. Not surprising considering I have a bottomless love for The Iron Fey books. I started reading the original series when it first came out and I don’t know why I never finished it. This book just made me want to venture back into the world of the Iron Fey. This is one of those series that I think has aged well. A lot of YA books, I find myself kind of bored by them now. This one is kind of the odd one-as of late. I started reading the original series when it first came out and I don’t know why I never finished it. This book just made me want to venture back into the world of the Iron Fey. This is one of those series that I think has aged well. A lot of YA books, I find myself kind of bored by them now. This one is kind of the odd one-as of late. With that being said, I really felt like you do not need to be familiar with the world prior to picking this up.

I really liked Julie’s writing, which will pull you in right away. It is rather light in nature, but there is something that just will keep you hooked on what is going on. We have that light tone, but there is also a lot of darkness. We see things that will want to kill you, deep bonds of friendships, a fun adventure, and old foes being forced to work together. I like that Julie throws all of this in as well as giving you enough information to figure out just what has happened in the past. Think of it as being kind of like what Six of Crows added to the Grisha world.

I really enjoyed Puck’s point of view. I found him to be a fun, yet strong lead. I like that we get a lot of background information on him and what led him up to this point. We get to see how his quest for power caused him to fall, see how he got involved in so many different courts, and the origins of his friendships-as well as how his bonds formed with certain characters. I don’t know how else to explain it without giving away spoilers. Just the overall nature of Puck is so well done. In the beginning of the book, he is very egocentric, but we see changes throughout the book that allow for some major character growth and development. I can’t wait to see where they take his character in the next book.

This book is clearly a set up for the what is to come. Yes, this does take place in a world that most of us are kind of familiar with. However, Julie gives you the information that you need to pick this book up without having read the others. This doesn’t mean that we have a bunch of information, but we are given enough to kind of help guide us into this world.

Anyway, I’m glad that I picked this one up. I for sure think that this is worth the read.

it been a long time since i been on a trip to the summer court, winter court, forogtten and iron realm. In this wonderful new additon to the wonderful fey tales from Julie Kagawa we get the opprtunity to see more of the iron realm, hang out with the amaing characters you know and love from the series. In this series Puck (robin goodfellow) gets to take center stage it the novel perfect for the start of 2021.
