Not as good as the previous books. It was a little all over the place and didn't have the same feel as the other books. After the ending in previous book I was kinda expecting a MFM, but no. Dr. Melissa just fell for Dawson or John or Dawson or John...I wish she would just pick one name and call him that. Now are there going to be more books cause Juarez and Quantum and still single. ...more

Love finds a way….

Each book in this series has built off the last as the story arc moved Team Mayhem ever closer to finding the truth. Melissa worked feverishly to keep the team members healthy, atoning for her part in the situation they found themselves. She had to find a solution or they would die and the clock was ticking. John was a betrayer in their eyes yet in his mind, they were the ones who abandoned him…

The tension was ever present as this time the imminent danger was not in the form of

Mayhem’s Betrayal by Lindsay Cross
Operation Mayhem #5

Another wonderful addition to this series about battle scarred warriors with enhanced abilities brought on by what could easily have been lethal experimentation carried out under the orders of General Rainier. Throughout the series I have wanted each of the men to find a way through the madness and mayhem, find their true love and eventually find a happily ever after with a much more normal life than they had been handed by the military. We've been on tenterhooks since the last book. John surrendered to the team after almost killing his daughter. But is he really a doting father dealing with a traumatic brain injury and brainwashing at the hands of Rainier? Or is he a plant to get the inside scoop on Rainiers original supersoldiers?

John was always going to be the hardest hero to understand, mainly because he really doesn't know himself what the truth is. He believes he was discarded by his team but as time passes in the Mayhem M

John Dawson had been thought to be dead when his team escaped from the nightmare of Rainier’s lab so he had been left behind to be turned into a monster of a killing machine. After being captured by his team at the end of the last book he is now held captive by them at their compound. He has so much anger and mistrust of his former teammates and they in equal measure do not trust him so he remains locked up in his cell and needing increasing amounts of serum to stay alive.

John feels betrayed by the men he considered his brothers when they leave him to face his fate alone but they didn’t believe that he was alive and that searching for him would have deadly consequences for them all. His mission of vengeance finds him being held captive with the only ray of hope and light in his life being Melissa.

Melissa has nothing but guilt and regrets about what has transpired as what she thought was a way of helping others couldn’t have been further from the truth. When all h

John Dawson was the man left behind but it was because his team thought him dead and weren't able to get his body out. While he feels betrayed and left his team feels sick and would never had left him behind if that had been an option. However, after he attacks them at their place and blinds his best friend the team has to wonder did their friend betray them? This is Dawson's story and in this book the answer of who betrayed who will be found.

While he's been with the team he's gets a front row s

I absolutely loved this story! It’s raw, gritty and emotional! John and Melissa’s story is full of so many twists and turns. This is a story of betrayal. Betrayal so deep that it can’t be overcome. Or can it? What the mind perceives may not be what is true in reality. This story had me on the edge of seat the entire book! I wasn’t sure what was going to happen with each turn of the page. I was definitely cheering for John to see the truth and for Melissa to find some happiness. But can they see ...more

I loved this book and couldn’t stop reading. Dr. Melissa Averton has really dedicated all her time to find a cure for the team Mayhem. But she finds herself falling for John Dawson. Can they trust him? He thinks his team abandoned him. I didn’t expect to cry as hard as I did, loved being so emotionally connected. Can she find a cure in time? Loved staying on edge. Thankfully there’s a happy ever after. I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy and I highly recommend this book. Each book in thi ...more

Mayhem's Betrayal is another great read from the talented Lindsay Cross this is a story with suspense, danger and action with some love. I received an ARC copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest opinion.

John feels his team left him to die while his team thinks he turned on them and sided with their enemy. He has been brought back to the Mayhem Compound(it's really a Mansion) but is really being held more as a prisoner as the team wants to know what the General is up to. He has other problems though, the last injection the General gave him almost killed him and he is now having serious medical issues such as se

Dr. Melissa Averton has been relentlessly and tirelessly attempting to find a solution for the soldiers of Team Mayhem. All the men depend on a serum which she helped create to make super soldiers. The big brawny men can be intimidating but Melissa feels nothing toward any of them except John Dawson. Melissa is drawn to him and can’t help her attraction to him either; even though she has been warned that John is dangerous not only to her but the entire team. John also desires Melissa but feels b ...more

Mayhem's Betrayal is the fifth book in the Operation Mayhem series. I do recommend starting at the beginning. As a standalone, some back story will be lost and make this confusing.

John was captured at the end of book four after trying to kill his own team, who he believes left him behind in the hands of their enemy. Rainier messed with his body and his mind to poison him against his former team and make him forget his own family.

Melissa is still working as close to 24/7 as she can to find a cure

This book takes you on a roller coaster of feelings. John allowed himself to be taken by his team and locked up at the end of the last book. He spends a good chunk of the book stuck in that same cage, but still forms intense connections with Quantum and Melissa. She calms him in a way he has never experienced before. She also doesn't believe he is a danger to anyone, like the rest of the team thinks. What he is going through is scary, as his body just keeps breaking down the serum and his sympto ...more

The men of Operation Mayhem are back and despite great adversity and horrific use as experiments, having to pay with the ravaging side effects, these men are still heroic and loyal.

One man was left behind and thought he had been forsaken, so he was manipulated and set on a course of revenge against his army brothers and even his sister and daughter.

John Dawson surrenders after nearly killing his daughter, unsure of who can be trusted and who had really betrayed him. Dr Melissa Averton has made

John was a member of the team but was left for dead, only to become the General’s bodyguard. The General brainwashed John into believing his team betrayed him. So excited to start this book. Have devoured every book by this author. She has been a top military read recommendation author of mine for years.
Been looking forward to this story after following rest of series, there's something about them that sticks with you, matter how long it's been between books.

Even just the start of this book is proof of why this author is a master of her craft. You are instantly drawn back into their world and you'll stay that way long after the last page is read.

I have been with these men since the beginning and OMG, this ending tied it up nicely. John has been made to think his team left him and his team was led to believe he was dead. He has been kept in a cell in the mansion they have all been living in. Melissa is trying to find a cure for the serum the men were given. Her and John have undeniable connection like no other. She grows to care for him and wants to save not only the other team members, but John as well. All the men have trust issues. Jo ...more

We are back with the men of Operation Meyhem. Men that were used as experiments and who have had to pay with the side effects. One man was left behind and now he wants revenge.
This man is John Dawson.
Dr Melissa Averton has made it her mission to do all she can to save the members of Meyhem after the guilt of being responsible for the serum that changed their lives.
When John surrenders under false pretenses , he hadn’t counted on Melissa .

OH MY EVER LOVIN' HELL! Lindsay Cross is brilliant at keeping me 1000% engrossed in a story, which also keeps the heart rate going at high levels. John Dawson is simply put, out to get revenge on everyone who messed him up, especially the doctor who changed him into something that has tried to destroy him. Dr. Melissa Averton is that doctor, and she's living with the over powering guilt that she came up with that particular serum, and has been doing everything in her power to undo the damage. Mayhem's Betrayal by Lindsay Cross is an emotional roller coaster of a ride. Ever since the team discovered John Dawson was alive, I wanted to know more about him. This is his story. There were so many misconceptions between all of them which has led to guilt. Then enters Dr. Melissa Averton who has guilt of her own.

From the beginning I believed that there was more to Dawson than what was obvious. All of that comes out in this book as well as where he is able to go from here in his life. A roma

Mayhem's Betrayal by Lindsay Cross is an adrenaline filled rollercoaster of a story. This book is filled with angst, betrayal, suspense, fear, guilt, lack of trust, and love. You will not be able to put this one down and you will read it in one sitting. The attraction between Melissa and John is so wrong and yet so right.
