Heart On A Leash stole my heart from page one. I was completely enamored with Taylor and Josh's love story and how they fought for each other in the midst of their families' decades-long feud. And the fact that they both were animal lovers was the cherry on top of this adorable romcom. Whether you're a dog lover, cat lover, or romance lover, you're sure to fall hard for this book. ...more

I have to share, I use to have Siberian Huskies. They are the best. My huskies were a handful, loving, and loyal as the day was long. I had two, had a surprise litter, and lost my heart happily. Raising them, loving them, and having my children loving them was everything.

So when I saw this book, I had to jump right in.
As my title references, this is a story of two people who come from families that have held onto a feud

Heart on a Leash by Alanna Martin is the first book in her Hearts of Alaska series.

Taylor Lipin escaped Helen, Alaska for the sophistication of Los Angeles, but she’s back in her hometown to help her sister with the family business. She meets Jay, Pepper, and Bella, three adorable huskies, and their human, Josh Krane, a new doctor in town. Taylor is instantly attracted to… the huskies and just possibly Josh, who, unfortunately, turns out to be a member of the rival family that has troubled the

Heart on a Leash was a really fun read and one that I found to be very enjoyable. It was easy to get right into this small-town feeling and the writing was captivating enough that it had me up late at night reading and ignoring the fact that real life would be starting again in the morning.

Honestly the family-feud part of this book is what had me nervous because typically it's not something I would find enjoyable. But in this book I actually liked how it was handle

Set in Helen, Alaska, HEART ON A LEASH is a delightful romance.

Amidst a generations-old Hatfields and McCoys-esque feud, Taylor reluctantly puts her life in L.A. on temporary hold to return home to Alaska to help her family and finds herself drawn back into the fray. Luckily, she finds fleeting distraction with Josh, a new doctor in town. It's hard to decide who's more charming - the steamy love interest or his three rescue huskies. Unlike Taylor, Josh isn't a Helen native but he's a close relat

A small town romance that defies cliche. Complex family rivalries, swoon-worthy romance, and (of course!) adorable dogs make this a heart-melting love story.

It was the Alaska setting and rescue huskies that first drew my eye to this story, but what really set it apart was the depth and realism of the romance. I like that the main characters genuinely enjoyed each other's company and respected each other's minds, beyond just insta-lust. I also really liked how the family rivalries were drawn with

A small-town romance without the cliches that often accompany this genre, the story features a heroine who has the self-awareness to know you can come home again and still be yourself and a hero who is up for the challenge of making a home for himself after a childhood of moving from place to place. The two lovers meet-cute before they find out they are on opposite sides of a century-old family feud. I loved how they were both mature and kind, with no deep hidden traumas or hangups, just two peo ...more

I'm always hesitant to pick up books with pets on the cover, but I guess some people feel that way about abs. 🤷‍♀️ It's good to be different. I love reading small town romances, so I decided I needed a little of Helen, Alaska in my life. Debut author Alanna Martin knocked it out of the park with Heart on a Leash.

When Taylor Lipin is called back to her hometown to help out with the family business, she's not happy about it. Then she meets Dr. Josh and his adorable rescue dogs, and her plans to on

I received an ARC from the publisher and am posting an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Heart on a Leash caught my eye because of the adorable huskies on the cover. And while there were some cute dog moments, there are other aspects I came to enjoy.

I’ve never been to Alaska, and Alanna Martin perfectly captured the image of life in a little part of that state for me. And given that family dynamics play such a big role in the story, I did like getting that sense of the two famil

Not only did I fall in love with Taylor and Josh and their love story (and their determination not to let their families interfere with their relationship), but I loved Josh's three Huskies, Jay, Pepper and Bella. How can you not love a book with three lovable Huskies frolicking and giving kisses in a hurricane of furry bodies? I wanted to be in Helen, Alaska with all of them. This book really transported me to Alaska, and despite the feud between the two main families, made me want to live ther ...more

The swoon-worthy romance, the crazy over-the-top family drama, the adorable huskies all contribute to a time well spent.

The last thing Taylor Lipin wanted to do was return home to Helen, Alaska. She had worked hard to get out from under the never-ending feud her family has going on with the Porter family. But she can't leave her sister in the lurch with their inn after her mother packed up and left suddenly. Dr. Josh Krane is a part of the Porter family. He's aware of the long-standing feud,

"Um, yes. We have the internet in Helen. It's not as speedy as it is here, but it's sufficient. We also have this newfangled electricity stuff and running water. It's pretty civilized. Even the bears sometimes wander into town to check their voice mail."

Everyone who knows me even if only a little knows that I would not be able to resist such an adorable furry cover 😛. The four-legged characters were a pleasure to read about (and the hero give such cute and good gifts) but unfortunately, their fe

Heart on a Leash by Alanna Martin is the first book in her new Hearts of Alaska series. Taylor Lipin, our heroine, having recently lost her job, goes home to Helen, Alaska temporarily to help her sister run the family B&B, since their mother left town. Taylor left Helen 10 years ago, coming back home occasionally, because she hated the horrible feud between her Lipin family and the Porter family. She quickly meets a handsome hunk, who happens to be doctor and owns three wonderful huskies, who im ...more

Oooooh puppers! Alanna Martin had me at the cover lol

And the puppers inside the book are just as amazing and adorable as I wanted them to be.

I liked Josh and Taylor - a lot - but sheesh did I hate just about every one else in this book.

The Hatfield and McCoy/Capulet and Montague BS that the two families carry on with just made me so mad, so sad for our lovelies. These people should all be ashamed at themselves for acting like two year olds throwing

Taylor Lipin escaped her small-town Helen, Alaska home ten years ago. She was determined not to be a part of the ridiculous rivalry between her prominent family and their hated enemies, the Porters. Taylor felt stifled and unappreciated by her family as well so she was glad to be thousands of miles away except for the occasional holiday visits. When her sister, Lydia, who manages the family inn sends up a red flag for help, Taylor agrees to go home as temporary support. Taylor’s mother decided d ...more

Taylor and Josh’s romance story in Hearts on a Leash by Alanna Martin, book one in her Hearts of Alaska series, was an emotional, enjoyable and heartwarming tale. Growing up in small town Alaska where your family had a crazy century-old feud with another family was the reason Taylor Lipin gave for her goals to leave her hometown for sunny California. When her sister needs help running the family inn, Taylor agrees to return to Helen, Alaska for a couple weeks; a temporary solution. At least that ...more

This is the first book in the Hearts of Alaska series by Alanna Martin.

I thought this book sounded really good in the blurb. They have a kind of Hatfields and McCoys thing going on in the town of Helena and these two people reminded me a lot of Romeo and Juliet. Star-crossed lovers that might not have been meant to be. I read about the first third and the couple got together really quickly and was doing what I consider the cheesy sex scenes. I was rolling my eyes hoping against all hope

I was definitely sold on this book by looking at the cover! The Huskies are too adorable for words. This is a sweet and sexy Alaskan romance. In fact, everything between Josh and Taylor was just about as adorable as Josh's three Huskies. What wasn't adorable was the feud between their families that dates back generations. The Porter family (Josh's extended family) and Lipin's (Taylor's family) have been at odds for a long time. With both families trying to sabotage the other and each family want ...more

This romance would have been perfectly charming even without the huskies, but I'm a firm believer that dogs make almost any story better.

Taylor Lipin is disenchanted with her life in LA, but she doesn't know it until she loses her job and returns home to Helen, Alaska to help her family run their resort hotel. While there she meets Josh, a physician. Their chemistry is smoking hot and their banter is everything I could ask for. Straight to the HEA, right? Well, no, because Josh is a Porter. And

The Capulets and the Montagues have nothing on the families in this small Alaskan town...

Taylor Lipin goes back to her hometown of Helen, Alaska strictly for holidays only. Not only is it expensive and time-consuming to leave LA and the marketing job she has there, but she hates that she is Helen "royalty" for the worst reason possible: the feud between the Lipins and the Porters. But when Taylor's sister begs her to

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me a copy of this book. I am offering my honest opinion voluntarily.

The adorable cover really drew me to the book, and I definitely couldn’t resist a romance that also featured 3 huskies as quite possibly the best wingmen (wingdogs?) ever. But the story fell a little flat for me.

The Lipin and Porter families are engaged in a Hatfield-McCoy style rivalry that has been going on for more than a century. So when Taylor and Josh meet, the

This is the first one I read from Alanna Martin and I can't wait for the next one.

First, I came because of the huskies, and I stayed because of the romance. I really like how the author allows you to feel Alaska, because I thought it just had cold places, but it would be a nice place to visit.

I wish I could have liked this book more because I loved the concept of it and the doggies. But this was a bit boring and I wasn't that interested in the story by the 50% mark, but I wanted to finish it.

One of the main reasons I wanted to read this book was because of the family feud. Both of their families are rivals and they have a decades-old feud where none of them have any contact because they hate each other. But how can you make me care about this family feud when both of the families ar
