Be: Be Unique. Be Courageous. Be Kind.

Rate this book
We always ask kids, " What do you want to BE when you grow up?" They always respond with "firefighter, astronaut, teacher, and doctor." And that's what we expect to hear from that question. But this book encourages kids to BE humble humans and just plain good people. Be challenges kids to think bigger than a profession when asked "what do you want to be." The author encourages all kids to BE unique. BE accepting. BE courageous. Be kind to ALL. With simple wording and a profound message, "Be" allows children to see themselves within the pages, and sparks engaging conversations around celebrating unique differences and accepting and including all. The vibrant colors throughout the illustrations highlight positive character traits, such as, thoughtfulness, gratitude, and confidence. A valuable lesson from infancy to adulthood.

Eye-Opening simple concepts that we as parents, teachers, counselors should be fostering in our young minds today; encouraging growth through experiences not preconceived expectations. We wrap ourselves into the mindset of pushing our agendas on our youngsters without stopping to really tackle the root of “how to be a good member of society.” “Be” brings to life, with creative images, the importance of getting back to the basics through love, generosity, humbleness, kindness, etc. I love Ms. Tate’s use of expressions in her book and my children love the images that she has used to portray these necessary qualities. Most of all they love the hidden “bees” in the book. This is a must- read book with your children!

Wow! What a beautiful story of kindness, love and acceptance. This book spoke to my family in so many ways. It teaches children that they can be whoever they want in life, but not just in the tradition professions....it is so much more. It encourages them to try new things, make friends, love one another and be a unique person who choses kindness. In essence it teaches them to BE GOOD HUMANS! While this book was clearly written for children, it should probably be a coffee table book in everyones offices! But lets not forget the artwork. It is absolutely beautiful. I couldn't rave more!

What a gorgeous book! Gorgeously illustrated, gorgeously written! This book encourages all kids to be courageous, kind, to ultimately be themselves, to shine for all of us to see and cherish, and to cherish everyone around them, to celebrate our differences. As my children are in middle school now, it's not as often I come across picture books I want to share with the world. This profound book, although written for children, is one of those gems that is wonderful for all of us, no matter our age.

This book says exactly what I feel about my babies. I even feel like this applies to my former students & how I felt about them. Beautiful words, beautiful illustrations, a beautiful book. One to share for years to come.
