All’s fair in love and prank wars.

Bree Leake doesn’t want to be tied down. She’s had more jobs than she can count, and she plans to move as soon as the curtains fall on her less-than-minor stage role at The Barter—the oldest live performance theater in the US. But just when it’s time to move on again, Bree’s parents make her an offer: hold steady for a full year, and they

This is definitely lighthearted and entertaining romcom! But I still feel like some romance parts are missing and till I reach the last third of the book, I actually decided to stop reading it but thankfully conclusion of the story was more satisfying even though epilogue was a little bit confusing.

Let me tell you more about the story and the characters so you may understand the reasoning of my complex feelings about the book.

I liked the beginning of the story. Bree is an ambitious stage act

A fun feel-good story! Bree is a free spirit currently acting as a fairy at the local theater. Chip is a little more buttoned up trying to branch away from the family business. Bree and Chip’s pass first cross when Bree is having a costume mishap during her performance and Chip comes to her rescue. Their paths cross again later that night when Bree is followed home by an obnoxious driver in a big truck just to find out it is Chip and he is now her new neighbor. A broken waterline and an overly z ...more

The Cul-de-Sac War is a light hearted, humorous and highly entertaining romantic comedy. I adored Bree and Chips characters. The back and forth between the two of them with their pranks was priceless - and the final prank had me laughing out loud. Oh the shenanigans, haha! Plus Russell, Chips dog was too much. I enjoyed his mischief!

I highly recommend this book to those who enjoy a light, clean rom-com :)

Great big thank you to Uplit Reads and Melissa Ferguson for my copy!
I really, really enjoyed listening to this cute contemporary romcom. I had earlier requested for an e-Arc of this book which didn't get approved so when I saw that the audio was up for request as well I took my chance and was so glad to get it. I feel listening to the book was a better option for me because I don't think I would have enjoyed reading the book as much as I have enjoyed listening to it. Voice actress Kate Rudd has done a very fine job narrating this entire book, all characters incl ...more

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

The Cul-de-sac war is a fun, lighthearted, quirky read with a light storyline of neighbours/frenemies to lovers with a slow-burn romance in between.
This book was just what I needed to cheer me up and had me giggling afew times through the story.

Unfortunately, this book just didn't work for me. I listened to part of this as an audio book and read part as a print copy. The narrator of the audio book was good and she definitely kept me engaged in the lightheartedness of the story.

To start with, the book just didn't match the synopsis. I thought from the narrative that Bree had inherited half of the house? The synopsis seems to indicate that there was a bargain worked out with her parents, but I didn't get that at all. Maybe Bree was flig

I just finished The Cul-de-Sac Wars in one day. I mean when you read it I guarantee you will do the same. The book is first hilarious. Chip and Bree are one of the best characters I have ever read. Both hating living next to each other and trying to out do each other with the pranks they pull. I have to say my favorite is the dog. Every time Bree is around the dog it tackles her. I hate to say I looked forward to that dog getting Bree each time! I have no idea how Melissa Ferguson came up with t ...more

Is there anything better than fiction that makes you feel happy, laugh and is a blast to read? Talk about the perfect escape from reality and I think The Cul-de-Sac War accomplishes this very well!

A fast read, you'll spend all your time jumping from one snappy dialogue bit to the next, caught up in the banter (and possible hatred) between two feuding neighbors. The plot keeps hopping from one get-back scenario to the next with both Chip and Bree loving to hate each other and pull pranks on the o

I am always down for a good enemies to lovers and Ferguson's inherent personality blasts through the page! The same winsome voice that hooked so many readers in Ferguson's debut is as sparkling here. Balancing humour with warmth and featuring a unique hook and premise. Perhaps what I most enjoyed is that the romantic elements are a little bit stronger. Both leads explode on the page with authentic banter ad intelligent dialogue.

I listened to the audio version of this story. The narrator did a very good job and I enjoyed her narration style. It was lively and entertaining.

It took me awhile to get into the plot of this book. The misunderstandings and pranks between Bree and Chip were definitely juvenile and that had me on edge for a bit. However, I lightened my grasp on reality and decided to just enjoy the silliness of it all and began to enjoy the story much more, including many moments where I laughed out loud.

Readers looking for a fun and lighthearted romantic comedy will certainly want to read this latest from Melissa Ferguson. This is one romance that will have you laughing throughout the book.

The story centers on Bree and Chip, who have a pleasant first meeting that seems as if it will be one of those instances where people meet and never cross paths again. As luck would have it, Bree and Chip meet again under some not so pleasant circumstances when they discover that he has bought the house next

Looking for a squeaky-clean romcom with a "friendly" neighborly rivalry? This new release will fit the bill. I found the feud between Bree and Chip to be an amusing plot device that propelled the plot along while our main characters dealt with their family baggage. Both are from supportive families and I especially enjoyed Bree's parent visits and their love affair with Russell, Chip's dog. BTW, that Russell needs his own book! Anyway, this is an uplifting story with a testament to the power of ...more

I absolutely loved “The Dating Charade” and was counting down until I could read book two. It is so perfect for a relaxing, hilarious, and light-hearted read. The cause-and-effect of this book is hysterical and just when you think things are resolved, it all gets worse. But in that way that makes you go, “Oh no, this didn’t really just happen... but it did. And... it’s kind of believable.”

So yes, I loved this book when it comes to that note. The style is funny, but not a forced funny. Just a nat

The narrator of "The Cul-de-Sac War" by Melissa Ferguson is brilliant! I love the way she pulled you into the story right along with the actual words, I highly recommend the audiobook for those that listen to books or like me rarely listen to an audiobook.

Plot review: This'll be a quick review since I may come back once I have a paperback.

4 stars! In this cute romantic comedy Bree and Chip are next door neighbours engaged in a prank war with each other. As the pranks escalate so do their feelings and this makes for a fun and sweet enemies to lovers romance.

This one was a bit slow to start and I spent a lot of the book wanting the pranks to get more out of hand but the final prank played was very over the top and I loved it. The pair have some sweet moments throughout the book, which they spend hating each other and playing prank

I was going through English Audiobooks available for review on Netgalley when I saw the title "The Cul-de-Sac War" by Melissa Ferguson. The very first thing I checked was the language settings in Netgalley. Then I google the word "Cul-de-sac", what I gauged from the title was the book must be around neighbors. And that was described in the blurb. Based on these few things, I applied for the review copy in exchange for an honest review, and luckily I won it. So here I am discussing the sweet love ...more

A fun, almost slapstick-humorous romance about two neighbours who keep making each others lives difficult. This was so comedic, especially the audiobook - the narrator's dialogue had the funniest intonations, it made it all ten times funnier. A thoroughly enjoyable escapist read.

Well, this wasn't for me. The premise sounded fun and lighthearted - a neighborly war that would most likely end in romance, I'm there for it! But the story was mostly just Chip and Bree doing their jobs, worrying about their jobs, coming home from 12 hours on the job and then doing something ridiculous to each other. I didn't buy the animosity between them and I definitely didn't buy the love either.

I didn't particularly care about any of the characters. Both Chip and Bree were annoyi

Melissa Ferguson has an uncanny knack for choosing premises that make me nervous about whether I will enjoy her stories. Two people dating but keeping a big secret from each other (The Dating Charade)? Yep, pretty nervous. But I took a chance and was surprised by how much I enjoyed the story. Next door neighbours who are determined to one-up each other in a prank war? Again, more than a little nervous. And as it happened, I didn’t enjoy this story as much as her first. However, there were defini ...more

I almost gave up on this one, but I'm glad I stuck with it.

When Bree and Chip meet, there are sparks between them, but things take a different turn when she discovers he's the new neighbor.

I wish the first 2/3 of the book were as cute as the last 1/3. Their "pranks" got old and I couldn't see how they'd redeem themselves to the other. Fortunately, they did, even if it almost too late.

It kept me reading and I enjoyed the ending and the epilogue.

While I was intrigued enough by the plot to finish the book, there wasn't anything particularly sparkling or fantastic about this book. I'm not sure it's a story I'll even remember in a few weeks.

The plot did get me a little invested in the lives of Chip and Bree, the two main characters. They were each working through their own problems and trying to figure out what the future held for them so it was interesting to see how they moved forward.

Now onto the topic of romance. I appreciated that thi

The Cul-de-Sac War made me laugh so much. Bree was beyond hilarious and I absolutely fell in love with her pretty early on. From talking about pencil skirts being a thigh corset or thinking a dog is out to murder her. I just laughed so much while listening to this book.

Plus the bantering between Bree, Chip, and his dog Russell were the highlight of my life. The whole war between them had some pretty funny moments that I was

Another adorable read from Ferguson! The Cul De Sac War is lots of fun and I can see it being turned into a movie. Great characters with heart, a fun side detour into the world of live theatre and some stubborn enemies turned lovers--I don't think there's much more you could ask for in a Romance! I love the fact that this story is set in an area I have actually lived near before...Ferguson did her homework and knows what she's describing. Don't miss this second charmer--I can't wait for the next ...more

In The Dating Charade, we meet Cassie and get to see her fall in love. The Cul-De-Sac War is all about her best friend Bree. The overlap between the two books is very small. Cassie is not a main character in this book at all, and it can easily be read as a stand-alone. It is always fun to get the backstory on characters from previous books though.

I loved this one. If you are a fan of romantic comedy, you won’t want to miss this book. It is perfect if you are looking for a light and clean read. I

FTC Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. These are my honest thoughts.

This story was the fun, lighthearted read I needed this week. It was a quick read that was laced with humor and quirky events. I liked that the leads were a stage actress and a construction worker. These roles paired off well and played against each other beautifully.

I was disappointed that there was zero faith thread. The characters solved all their problems themselves and didn’t turn towar

Neighbours who are "Enemies" to lovers with prank wars and a guaranteed HEA? Melissa Ferguson had my heart from the premise and I'm so happy this book was everything I was expecting it to be! Funny and engaging and wholesome and feel good and truly delivering on a happy ending! I would've loved the final chapter to have been at least 30 more pages long, it was too early to say goodbye to Chip and Bree! The book had several laugh out loud moments and it just filled my heart with a lot of joy!!

I think throughout our lifetime, everyone has that neighbour. You know, the one whose dog barks all day, or doesn't rake his leaves, or plays music really loud or maybe places his fence on your side of the property line. Well, in this story, Bree Leake ends up with a neighbour that seems to cause her a lot of grief. Chip McBride lives next door and is a thorn in Bree's side. If she wants to become the owner of her grandmother's cottage, she has to stay put in Abingdon for one year. Her plan is t ...more

This rom-com, emphasis on the comedy, is an excellent audio to laugh your day away with! Seriously, this book had me laughing inappropriately loudly and disrupting my entire household! The dual narration is excellent as it really helps bring the characters to life, but the plot and antics of the main characters makes this a solid choice any day, any time, just maybe not in public unless you are ok with people staring at you for disrupting them. I enjoy listening to audio books at the coffeeshop ...more

A fun lighthearted romance with lots of laugh out moments for me. I lost count of the times I laughed out loud while listening to the story. The narrator of the audio was very good and made the listening aspect very enjoyable. The end was cute and overall I enjoyed the story. Some of the pranks they pulled on each other was a bit over the top but that's my only minor complaint of the story. This a great story if you are looking for a quick, funny and light romance. ...more

I was longing to get a physical copy of this book because I adore the cover and thought the synopsis sounded really cute. And WHO DOESNT NEED A ROM COM every once and a while? That is pretty much where my love affair died with this one unfortunately :(

-This is a "clean" romcom. I happen to enjoy a little sweet with spice (ok a LOT of spice), so this felt a bit boring for me. There was literally NO ACTION and it took 93% of the book for somethi
