In her second book, Kat Armstrong proves two things about herself: first, she is a lover of and diligent student of God's Word; second, she is a keen mentor and friend to 21st century women who want to grow in their relationship with Jesus. Across the book, Armstrong majors on typological and thematic elements that run though Scripture. Her expositions related to Dinah & the Samaritan woman's stories ("Jesus is better than Jacob in every respect") and Moses & the Samaritan woman's stories ("Now

Kat is one of those writers whose excitement and love for Jesus and the scriptures jumps off the page. The In-Between Place is filled with wisdom and brilliant insights. It was a timely read for me in the middle of ALL. THE. THINGS. (*waves hands around*). I'm grateful for Kat's witness to believers through her writing, message, and her faithful actions.

Her book is just as I know her to be on social media; the author is a great encourager. Weaving her story in with shepherding words for her readers, Armstrong walks us through the story of the woman at the well in John 4. Readers can walk away with renewed hope in God, who is still at work among us.

When you feel like you're in the hallway, unable to see which door you have next to walk through and the door you walked through to get to the hallway is long gone, you might feel confused, hurt, frustrated and alone. That's the in-between place. That place where purpose seems put on hold, where you feel like you're suspended in motion and nothing makes sense. This book takes you on the purpose behind the in-between place and I can't recommend it enough. I've been in a season of being in-between

This is a delightful read! Kat generously shares stories from her own life alongside the story of the woman at the well in John 4 to demonstrate how Jesus meets us in our in-between places. Her book is empowering and full of hope.

The Lord has really been speaking to me lately through the written word, and one of those books is The In-Between Place by Kat Armstrong. I have heard the story of the Samaritan woman in John 4 many times in my years as a Christian, but Kat gives a fresh perspective to a tale that is so easily overlooked, diving deeper into the text, and showing us that Jesus can change us no matter where we are, or where we've been.

When was the last time you were in an "in-between place?" You know, the moments when one big thing has ended and the next big thing hasn't happened? Times of change, loss, suffering, transition. We've all faced those. And those in-between places bring up a lot of emotion, of fear, of challenge. We don't know how long it will take before they're over and things change. And how do we get through them? We might try to power through in our own strength; or ignore them; or try to fill the spaces with

I've read the story of the Samaritan woman at the well many times but this new book has given me a deeper understanding of John 4. The In-Between Place reminded me that this woman who had been judged by so many and cast aside was actually a woman whose life had been altered by tragic circumstances. She was in an "in-between place', a place that certainly wasn't where she had hoped to be. Suddenly, a man who knew all about her, who seemed to understand her as no one ever had, was talking to her!

This time in our world, the right now, the 2020, 2021 – this period of “history” (it will one day be) is a tough time. Many are being affected by unexpected loss, illness and more. This is on top of the normal day to day struggles. It is no wonder so many people are wondering if this is all these is.
Kat Armstrong is a woman who is not afraid to dive into tough topics like this and help us navigate to a better, healthier place.

As I first started diving into this read I was enjoying it and had high hopes for it. As someone who is currently living in a situation you might consider an “in-between place” I had high hopes. As much as I wanted to love it though, I felt myself growing increasingly uncomfortable with some of the statements and claims that were made. The chapters seemed unfocused to the topics at hand and seemed to all cycle back to complaining about men. There were Bible stories connected that I felt uneasy a

With the past year that we have ALL had, chances are many of us have felt as though our lives have in many ways been put on hold... and that we're just kind of in-between the before and whatever comes next. Covid aside, I think many of us also find ourselves feeling this way at one point in time or another. This book is for the women in those moments.

I feel like I’m always trying to push forward to the next place I’m “supposed” to be in my life, even though I know in my heart of hearts that it’s the journey, made up of the in-between places, the places where I sometimes feel stuck, and that my hands are tied, that matters the most. Kat Armstrong asks in this book: “What if each step in our journey has purpose?” If we can look back and see the big things, little things, good things, hard things- and how God has led us, we can grower closer in

Absolutely terrible. The writing had compelling moments but any time she approached the Bible I felt whiplashed by the rapid fire of combining so many bible stories that would leave someone new to scripture baffled, and leave an experienced student feeling like she was desperately scraping for content to make a point by pulling every example out of context.

The In-Between Place is the book version of the friend who meets you for coffee, and asks the hard questions — but does it in a way that feeds your soul and undeniably points you to Christ. Kat encourages the reader to really think about the in-between places of their lives, the ones that make life feel difficult, or disappointing, or hopeless, and to identify how God makes use of these places in the past, the present, and the future. Kat is a champion for women and a champion for Jesus, and in

Vulnerably and authentically, Kat shares from her experiences in a way that helps you to not just relate, but want to know more about the God who has guided her through both the ups and downs of her own story. Being in the middle is not foreign to any of us, but having someone to help you navigate your faith in it is invaluable. Thank you Kat for penning this beautiful book full of both your story and Biblical truth. Thank you for carefully laying down stones for us to walk on as we traverse you

If you have ever found yourself “stuck” in life, you need to read this book. Kat dives fearlessly into the story in John 4, Jesus and the Woman at the Well, and uses it to remind us that Jesus will always meet us where we are. This book illustrates how there is no person, no situation, that is too “messy,” or too “unreedemable” for our Savior, and encourages us all to ask the hard questions in order to walk forward boldly in the Truth.

This book is for ANY WOMAN. I've been so intrigued and uplifted with every chapter. I love how Kat illustrates the story of the Samaritan woman from John 4 and relates it so beautifully to our lives. We are bound to face hardship, regret, and disappointment throughout our lives and Kat's words meet us there and remind us we are exactly where we need to be. We have peace, comfort, and the fullest life right now, today if we choose to see it and fight for it. Kat helps us to practically embrace ou

Kat expertly and lovingly weaves together a narrative that is equal parts pastoral, encouraging, and is exegetical, illuminating teaching. As a woman working in ministry in the "in between" transition place from 2020 to 2021, I couldn't help but feel like certain parts were solely written for me. The way Kat brings light and depth to the teaching of the woman at the well has been absolutely groundbreaking for me...my words on the book to everyone I know have essentially been that if you are a wo

This book is definitely one that is needed right now! Most of us are at an in-between place. Kat does an amazing job of bringing the story of the Samaritan woman for a present day woman to relate to. Kat takes the readers through making peace with their pasts, finding hope in the present and stepping confidently into their futures. She also does a summary at the end of the three sections with some vital takeaways. This book will speak to the hearts and minds of every woman who picks it up. I rec

Kat Armstrong does an amazing job of writing a book suitable for women of today. Everyone deals with time of being in the “in between” and needs to be able to deal with it. When things seem to be falling apart, turning to Jesus brings the peace and relief people need.

Kat’s writing always gets me...and this book is no different! I love how Kat recounts the intentional journey of Jesus to meet the Samaritan woman at the well. It is a beautiful account of how Jesus sees us as women and meets us where we are...in the in between places of our lives. I truly needed this message of hope in the midst of one of the hardest seasons of my life. Kat’s words have been a gift my soul deeply needed.

Maybe this year has felt entirely like an in between place, or maybe years of your life have felt in between. Kat reminds us that Jesus is in all of it, from a quick transition to the next season to a transition that may take years and years. I’ve been in both. He is faithful. Through Kat’s words you’ll be encouraged and feel like a faithful friend is walking alongside you through your in-between. Keep pressing forward.

Kat is such a gifted writer and storyteller! I had the privilege of listening to Kat teach about "in-between places" in our Sunday school class last year, and I could not be more excited that she penned this message for all of us to read! Kat so beautifully weaves together insightful commentary on the story of 'the woman at the well' and stories from her own life, allowing her audience to learn and grow both intellectually and spiritually as they navigate their own in-between place.

Kat Armstrong’s second book, much like her first, did not disappoint. I’ve read the story of the woman at the well many times, but never made the connections made in this book. I’m thankful for Armstrong’s voice speaking into the pain that so many feel. She’s not afraid to tackle difficult subjects and bring Jesus right in the middle of it all because that’s where he’s suppose to be. This is a book I will come back to again and again as I go through life’s difficult phases.

If you've ever found yourself in the middle — the in-between — questioning and searching for purpose and redemption, this book is for you. Its organization is clear and digestible; its contents are richly theological and personal. Through Kat's scholarship, we better understand the biblical accounts of Dinah and the woman at the well and are encouraged to dare to hope, knowing God is *with* us in our stories and places too.

This book is a needed companion for uncertain times. With well-told anecdotes and deep dive details from one of the most compelling stories in Scripture, she unpacks how Jesus sees us, meets us, and changes everything when we need it most. If you need the comfort of Jesus in your season right now, this book will show you how he does that and more in every kind of circumstance.

If anyone needs a warm hug of reassurance that Jesus will meet you right when you need it most; in the in between moments, dive right into The In Between Place. Kat has the ability to bring Bible truths to life like an old best friend. If there ever was a “must read” book after a really tough 2020, this is it!

Kat's first book "No More Holding Back" offered me the wind in my sails to launch into some new platforms personally, and to spur on other women in my life to do the same. So to say I was excited about this book was an understatement. And it doesn't disappoint!
