Coexistence, Contribution, Creativity – a better world

Author Dr Leslie Boros earned his doctoral degree in science and is an engineer and has designed undersea crude oil supply pipelines. He makes use of his knowledge of engineering in writing this fine book, but he also reveals a mind that is deeply humanitarian in nature – a gift that makes this novel especially meaningful – and hopeful!

The novel opens on a luxury cruise ship, the Queensway Floating Hotel, on which naval engineer Paul Beckman and his family are enjoying the glow of an evening’s celebration at sea. Terror strikes when an apparently unmanned vessel nearly collides with the ship, but with the intelligence of the crew the potentially disastrous collision is avoided. Paul and his family return home and we grow to understand Paul’s nature. Yet another tragedy occurs – Paul is in an automobile accident that results in a fracture of his spine. – and the impetus for the story begins.

The plot summary distills the tale well – ‘The story is based on the life adventures of the fictional hero, Paul Beckman, a talented naval engineer who dreams of a better world. His middle-class life is pulled out from under him by a horrific car accident. Dr Boros steps onto the literary scene with this debut novel that not only is excellent in the manner in which it is written – beautifully developed characters and credible situations - but also as a beacon of hope for us all. That our world is in chaos is readily apparent with every day bringing more news of tragedy and terror and environment abuse and the accompanying threat of potentially disastrous climate changes. This book, this author, proves there is an alternative way to view the future of our globe – a future focused on coexistence, creativity and contribution. Mankind can survive – it is up to us – and with guidance such as this book provides, it feels accessible. Highly recommended for all readers.
