Interesting diary account from a native Hawaiian who was on duty during the Pearl Harbor attack, and then went on to serve in the Navy for the duration of the war. Not a lot of details or stories, but fascinating front row seat to some of the battles in the Pacific.

This would be a good introductory book for a young reader about Pearl Harbor.

The Diary of a WWII vet. I got confused as where they were in the pacific. Wish I had a map available.

I enjoyed this quick and easy read. Although I do agree with a previous opinion that there should have been a map included in this, I got lost a couple of times and am not the best with geography! I did think this was good and always find memoirs hard to rate. Also this guy seemed like a precious, thoughtful and stand up man ! 4/5

knew most of the info from my visit to Pearl Harbor, but the diary part of the book was pretty interesting!

Interesting look at what happened the day of Pearl Harbor attack from someone who was there. I wish there was more to that section. The diary of when he was on duty after Pearl Harbor was a bit interesting, where he went and why. However it never went into how he felt, that would have been more interesting to me.

Interesting reading. Narrative in the beginning and ending chapters, but literally just diary entries for the main portion.

This is an interesting insight to the wartime experiences of a Pearl Harbor survivor. I really enjoyed learning about his story and his life before, during, and after the war.
