In Book 8 of the time-traveling chapter book series, the Hidden Scrolls send Peter and Mary back to Jerusalem, where a teacher named Jesus has started teaching and performing miracles.
The Secret of the Hidden Scrolls series follows siblings Peter and Mary and their dog, Hank, as they discover ancient scrolls that transport them back to key moments in biblical history.
In their eighth adventure, the trio journeys back in time to Jerusalem. They quickly discover that Jesus, whom they met in Bethlehem as a baby, has grown up and become a famous teacher. Mike Thomas grew up in Florida playing sports and riding his bike to the library and an arcade named the Cosmic Cowboy. He graduated from Liberty University, earning a bachelor's degree in Bible Studies. When his son Peter was nine years old, Mike went searching for books that would teach Peter about the Bible in a fun, imaginative way. Finding none, he decided to write his own series. Mike Thomas lives in Tennessee with his wife, Lori; two sons, Payton and Peter; and their dog, Hank.
Another great edition to the series! My eight-year-old and I have enjoyed exploring this series together, and I'm a little sad it's almost over. I liked how this one focused on Jesus and his miracles.
Just finished reading Secret of the Hidden Scrolls: Book 8 – Miracles by the Sea to my kids, and I have to say… it was absolutely amazing. I teared up when Jesus spoke for the first time — it was so powerful, like you were really there with Him.
This whole series does such a great job bringing the Bible to life, and this book might be my favorite so far. Highly recommend it 10/10 for kids ages 4 and up (and yes, adults will love it too!).
If you're looking for a fun, faith-filled adventure for your family, definitely check it out!
The way M.J. Thomas weaves Scripture into this middle grade adventure series is impeccable. I enjoyed seeing the miracles of Jesus (feeding of 5000, walking on water, Simon walking on water, healing of the man through the roof, resurrection of Lazarus, etc) from the eyes of Peter and Mary. I truly enjoy seeing Peter mature throughout this series. I also love that M.J. Thomas share the specific Scriptures he uses at the end of each novel as it's a great way to lead into Bible study with children after reading. Can't wait to continue on with book nine.

These remain such fun books for kids to read. Sometimes they’re cheesy and relative but the content is fun and I’ve not found something quite like these that are better.
Peter Marry and hunk where so excited to talk to Jesus because he healed his cut in his foot. Then the Pharisees saw Peter Marry and Hunk but Simon help them to get away from them.
