I’m so excited that Susan finally wrote this book! It is such a great resource not just for a cousin camp but it’s loaded with creative ideas on how to be intentional with your kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews! I have used these ideas at home with my kids and also with a group at different kinds of gatherings. It’s been so helpful and a joy to read!

One of my best memories as a child are the ones connected with 4-H Camp. The crafts and games during the day and then, at night, sitting around the campfire or taking part in the talent show that was always held on the last night. Other favorite memories are my visits to my grandparents' house during the summer and having some of my cousins there. Susan Alexander Yates and her husband have taken it one step further by having cousin camps for their grandchildren and they truly offer them a camp e ...more

Susan Yates has helped so many families for over 30 years, via her speaking and writing about parenting-- including prayer, character building, and even the empty nest. She continues her call to be intentional with grandchildren in "Cousin Camp," relating what has worked in hosting summer camps for her now 21 (!) grandchildren (followed by a few days for "everybody" camp that includes the children's parents and youngest siblings also).
The book includes checklists/schedules, and sample prayers in

Cousin Camp is brimming with marvelous ideas for creating your own Cousin Camp or family reunion. Assessing the needs of the group (spiritual, emotional, and physical) is the essential first step and organizing principle of whatever group experience you desire to create. Susan Yates has created an intensely practical handbook filled with examples of cousin camps or family get-togethers that I think any family could benefit from. After reading this book, I feel equipped to try to launch my first ...more

Susan Alexander Yates has done it again. This time for Grandparents. Cousin Camp provides practical solutions to keep youngsters engaged with an enriched outlook that there is fun without technology while teaching great lessons about God and life. It protects the gift of faith and family. A great gift idea for Grandparents!

Some of my best childhood memories involve my cousins (there were 22 of us), and most of those memories occurred when we were all gathered at my grandparents' house. Cousin Camp by Susan Alexander Yates guides interested parties to creating their own family camp and/or reunion. This minister and his wife hold a four-day camp, every summer, for those of their many grandchildren who are aged four and up. This very organized undertaking includes sports and crafts activities and competitions, commun ...more
