We finally get to see what happened to the father who started all the trouble but brought all these people together!

Second chance romance plus surprise pregnancy and hidden baby! Friends to Lovers too.

This one fell flat for me because the characters were very one dimensional and I rolled my eyes over how this man travelled around the world to escape his ugly past while leaving his girl to rot in the small town and facing her own demons. I also thought it was h

The seventh and final book in the Seven Sins Dynasty series has been all about the Black Cresent Scandal. Jake is Joshua's twin and one of the Lowell kids. Nikki is the daughter of the coconspirator of the Black Cresent Scandal. Jake and Nikki had a past love, and when the scandal happened, they both ran in separate directions. Slow Burn also wraps up the series and leaves the reader with contentment for the entire series.

Slow Burn by Janice Maynard is a sexy second chance/secret baby romance and the last book in the Dynasties: Seven Sins multi-authored series.

Fifteen years earlier, when Jake Lowell and Nikki Reardon’s fathers embezzled money from their investment firm, they ruined the lives of several of Falling Brook’s families. Nikki’s father died while trying to escape the police and Jake’s went missing. The young couple were just on the verge of starting a real relationship when everything happened and Jake

Nikki and Jake’s fathers were friends, business partners and exposed as accomplices when the nefarious dealings of Black Crescent Hedge Fund were revealed. As a consequence of what happened Nikki’s father passed away and not only was the only life that she had ever known destroyed but the teenage romance between her and Jake was as well. I’ve been waiting for Jake’s book, and it did not disappoint! I absolutely loved Nikki! A great conclusion to the series!
Good book. It is the last in the series, and even though I haven't read the others (yet), I felt that I knew what was happening. Fifteen years earlier, both Jake's and Nikki's fathers were accomplices in embezzling from their company. Nikki's father died while fleeing from the police, and Jake's father disappeared. The ensuing scandal ruined the lives of many people, including Jake and Nikki. They had been high school sweethearts, and Jake broke her heart when he left.

Nikki Reardon grew up in a rich world where she had the best of everything. Then fifteen years ago that life was shattered when her father died in a car crash while being chased by the police. Her father and his business partner were going to be charged with taking the money from their business, Black Crescent Hedge Fund, and running off with it. Her dad's partner, Vernon Lowell disappeared. The result of this fiasco was that Nikki and her mother lost everything and left town. They managed food ...more

Slow Burn by Janice Maynard is the seventh and final story in the Seven Sins Harlequin Desire multi-author continuity. Jake Lowell fled Falling Brook when his father Vernon absconded with investments from the fund he managed through Black Crescent, devastating the community and his family. Unfortunately he also fled from Nikki Reardon, his high school sweetheart and the daughter of his fathe ...more
Slow Burn finally reveals that the Lowell brother with a secret baby is Jake Lowell, who hooked up with his "the one that got away", Nikki Reardon. Jake is the brother who straight up ghosted when his father did the crime and he has been traveling the world ever since. Plus day trading, obviously, because we can't have a poor hero. Meanwhile, Nikki's father died the night that Vernon Lowell took off in a car crash stemming from him being chased by the FBI or something. She is working as the mana ...more

Best Selling author Janice Maynard has done it again! Passion is the seventh in a series of books by various authors that are a play on the seven sins. Janice tells us the tale of the slow burn relationship, the Passion, between childhood friends Jake and Nikki. This fast paced look at the world of high stakes business investment provides some thoughtful insights regarding the impact of that lifestyle, as well as describing the dramatic adventures of the very wealthy. Nikki and Jake grew

I'm finding it hard to put into words how wonderful this book is. The hero and heroine went through an ordeal together as young adults that upended their world and destroyed their budding romance. Ten years later, after a chance encounter, they briefly hooked up and then went their separate ways again. When Nikki found out she was pregnant, she hid the fact from Jake, knowing his globe-trotting lifestyle wasn't conducive to fatherhood.

When a family crisis brings them back together again, Jake l

Slow Burn is book # 7 in the Dynasties: Seven Sins Series but can be read as standalone like I read it.

I love Janice Maynard's writing style, she is always able to develop her characters even in a shorter format of  Harlequin Desire books.

Slow Burn is a second chance romance which is one of my fav romance tropes and I loved the plot and most of all I loved the heroine Nikki .
She was such a strong woman that had to overcome so much in the last 15 years and I loved how she wasn't weak or scared a

4 1/2 STARS!

With the dramatic conclusion of the Dynasties: Seven Sins series, Janice Maynard brings the prodigal Lowell son home to confront the past ... and the daughter he didn't know he had! With book seven in the highly emotional series we get some closure on the Black Crescent scandal as Vernon has to face his accusers once and for all. I loved the series as a whole, but would have liked a little epilogue to tie up lose ends of punishment, etc.

Jake Lowell is a complex character. He seems li

Slow Burn is a great second chance at love read. Jake and Nikki were high school sweethearts until their lives were shattered by their fathers' business decisions. Nikki's father is killed and Jake's father gets away and leaves the country. Jake left Nikki behind without a backward glance, but several years later has a chance encounter with her that leads to a one night stand. These two have a past that was marred with scandal and tragedy. Their fathers had taken a lot of money from the people of the town they grew up in and the families were left to clean up the mess. Jake left and traveled the world and lived life on his own and became rich in his own right. While his twin brother took over the business that their fathers had abandoned. Nikki and her mother moved to a nearby town to live. About 10 years later, Jake ran into Nikki in Atlantic City. They spent a passi ...more

This was the last book in this seven books series. Having read the first, I knew a bit about the dynasty of the Lowells, so I was not completely in the dark. It was a good book, the characters were very wel written, some steamy scenes as well were also very good. It was a great story about a man, a confirmed globetrotting bachelor, going back to his roots- but as he had always been on the run- he is very scared of commitment. Going back to his hometown, he discovers he has a daughter and there i ...more

Slow Burn is the final installment in the Seven Sins series. It is the first segment I have read, so now I want to go back and read the other six.
Jake Lowell and Nikki Reardon have a past. High school sweethearts, their world fell apart when their fathers’ not so legitimate business dealings fell through. Jake’s dad disappeared and Nikki’s dad was killed. Both Jake and Nikki took different paths. Nikki stayed with her mom as they dealt with the fallout and moved on. Jake left town. He left his

'Slow Burn' by Janice Maynard is a page turner until the very end!
When bachelor Jake Lowell has to come home, he never imagined the “slow burn” that could still happen between him and Nikki Reardon; but, the question is, will it combust or will they ignore it? What about the secret that Nikki never shared with Jake, and how will he react to it? The story is well written, and at times I wished I could reach into the pages and just shake some sense into the both of them!!

"Slow Burn" is the final book in the 'Sevin Sins Dynasty' series by Janice Maynard. It can be a read alone, but I highly recommend books 1-6 in the series. It has taken Jake Lowell 15 years to return home, but 5 years ago he reconnected with Nikki Reardon (a high school crush), and their dalliance had a lasting consequence. There is SO much to this story, and it is one of my favorites, that it should be read. Not giving out too many spoilers to the book because I picked it up in the morning and ...more

Many of the families had teenage children at the time. The Seven Sins series looks at eight of the children and showcases what the past fift ...more

I needed a quick and low stress read when I picked this up and that is exactly what I got. I enjoyed the story and will have to look into the rest of the series. I feel like there are other stories that have been told that I might enjoy. The love story between Jake and Nikki was just as steamy and fast paced as I wanted, but I wanted him to have a little more growth. He frustrated me through most of the book and that feeling took some of the connection from the story.

This story has a bit of a twist. I’ve not read one with this plot before and there are only so many plots to use. The characters are not stereotypical and they are well developed. Treading through the angst and emotion finally does get them to a happy ending but the road is rocky. I haven’t read the others in the series yet but thanks to Janice, I will now go and buy them.
Well done, I enjoyed it.

Slow Burn

Loved the way this series wrapped up. I enjoyed all the books but Jake and Nicki were the icing on the cake. I'm glad the brothers all worked out their issues and were learning to love and trust one another again. Jake and Nicki were so good together and I loved their chemistry. So happy they opened up to each other and found their way back to each other. Great series from beginning to end! 🙂🙂

What an amazing ending to this series.

Ms. Maynard has such a way with wayward heroes and second chance romance. And she even upped the swoon factor with a secret baby thrown in!

Tying everything back to the couple that started the series by including Josh & Sophie's wedding was a great bonus.

This was honestly so much better than I thought it would be. I didn't expect to enjoy the characters as much as I did. The title fits these two characters' relationship very well. Everything was great, I read it in one sitting and already am going to be picking up some backlist titles. I highly recommend picking up this book.

Son come back to see formerly dead dad. Ex-girlfriend has a secret.

This book as a lot in it: prodigal son returns, father back from the dead, surprise baby and more. Loved the story and the back and forth between the main two!

Janice Maynard came to the writing life early! When her third grade short story, “The Princess and the Robbers”, won a red ribbon in a school arts fair, Janice was hooked. No advance for that one, but she won a six-pack of Coke… remember those great little bottles?
