My big brother and I landed in the care of my aunt and her husband after my parents died in a tragic accident when I was three-years-old. I grew up smothered by love from a family that knows what the bitter sting of loss feels like.
Living under that umbrella afforded me the ability to grow up with the security needed to try my every whim… and I have, now it’s time to figure out who I want to be.
My family would love for me to settle down with someone grounded and successful like the sexy new vet in town.
I like him, but I am restless.
I don’t want to be grounded. I want to ride the wind.
Walker Reid has worked on my family’s ranch for years. He’s like a son to Uncle Jeff and my brother’s closet friend. He is a sexy devil, drinks too much and likes to live wild and free.
I’m drawn to him. Maybe he’ll finally be the one to help me let go and find where I belong. Or maybe my brother will kill us both.

Wow! Wow! Woe! I am officially obsessed with this series. I’ve read all three books and each one has left a major impression in my heart. Not only that, I’ve rated each one 5 stars because of how amazing they are! I honestly can’t get enough and highly recommend them to all romance readers! That’s right! If you enjoy romance books that will leave you breathless, those kind of books that make you swoon and feel giddy, and those kind of books that leave a lasting impression then you won’t want to miss ANY of these books (this one included). I know this one is literally just releasing, but I am already ANXIOUS for the next one. I can’t get enough!!!!!!! Gah! I loved it to pieces!!!!
If you’ve read the previous books in this series, then you may remember Elle (she has my name) as Braxton’s sister. When she was young her parents died, and she and her brother went to live with the amazing family who sets the tone for the whole series (they are all phenomenal characters with hearts full of gold). Anyway, Elle is in her early 20’s and is back home looking to find out who and what she wants to be and do with her future. And being back home means being around all the ranchers, their wives, and family. All is well except there’s one thing missing that she doesn’t even realize until it knocks her off her feet… Walker.
Walker is Braxton’s best friend. He’s known Elle since she was younger and has always watched out for her kind of like a big brother. He’s known around town as a bad boy womanizer but inside, everyone KNOWS he’s a good man. So, what happens when he and Elle find they both hold an attraction towards one another. Will it uproot everyone’s lives? Or will family be there for these two when they need them the most? You’ll have to read to find out!
Once again, Amber Kelly has brought me to my knees and delivered a gorgeous love story with incredible characters, and so much heart. This is by far one of my FAVORITE series ever and I want so many more books in this world! I’ll eat them up just like I did this one. Readers, you won’t want to miss falling in love with this one.
Walker and Elle's story is a great brother's best friend/small town romance. I'm loving this series and this friend group/found family on the ranch. I do wish we got more time with this couple as a couple, but I still enjoyed it lots! I'm looking forward to the next book in this series!
Ah another sweet and easy love story from Poplar Falls. I swear I feel like this series is the low angst gift that keeps on giving. Elle and Walker have been teased a little in the other books, but I absolutely fell in love with them in their story. They start off slow burn, but then they finally come together and give us some secret relationship fun. I love how this author keeps the angst low and has it quickly resolved. It gives you time to really just enjoy the easy/fun parts of getting to know two characters and reading about them falling in love. So good. If you like small town country romances, you should pick up this series starting with book one today.
I’m already so pumped for the next book in the series, and however many follow that. Never want to leave Poplar Falls. Sorry, not sorry 🤣
so this was better than the first book and I really liked it. This would be a 5 star read, but my issue with this series is that the main characters don't spend much time together. I mean, I enjoy all the characters, just expected more from Elle and Walker, like more depth in their relationship, feelings, etc.
Wicked Hearts is the 3rd book in a series of standalones set in the fictional town of Poplar Falls and is Walker and Elle's story who we have met in the previous books. This is an adorable, heartfelt, swoon worthy small town brother's best friend romance and I loved every minute of it.
Walker is by far my favourite guy in this series so far. He was broody, gaurded, conflicted but so incredibly sweet, caring and with a heart of gold. His family background was devasting as was his first heart break that turned him into the guy who doesn't do serious relationships. We watch him break down his walls and give in to what he deserves even though it takes a while for him to realise it. The way he cares for his Mom, Elle and his friends was beautiful and I truly loved him.
Elle is probably one of the sweetest characters ever. She is compassionate, kind, nurturing, emphathetic, patient and so very loving. She is trying to work out what to do with her life and maybe find love along the way.
Walker and Elle had amazing chemistry and heat between them. I loved their banter and the slow burn with slightly forbidden aspects to their relationship. I would've loved more interactions with the Main Couple as there were a lot of scenes involving their friends and family and what is happening with them which of course I loved but I also would've loved more of just Elle & Walker.
So far I have really enjoyed this series and this close group of friends and family and can't wait for whats next which I'm hoping is a Brandt Story 😍😍
《book aesthetic made by me. I do not own the pictures, all found via pinterest》
Best one in the series so far, in my opinion. Elle being unsure and finding her path in life is relatable, I always love seeing characters going through that in books. I loved Walker, he cares a lot about the people in his life and he has always been hard-working. Initially, he didn't believe a happy ending with a woman and a family was in store for him because of what happened when he was a teenager.
The romance is so damn cute, they have a really good dynamic. It has the best friend's brother trope but also lowkey childhood friends to lovers since they've known each other for yeaaars. There's mutual pining and all that build-up. The family dynamic and group of friends are amazing as always.
Best book of the series so far, & I enjoyed the other 2.
For a brother’s best friend/best friend’s sister(whichever way you prefer it), I found it refreshing neither had been secretly pining for years for the other, especially for the heroine(since it’s typically her), & their feelings evolved as the book went. Wicked Hearts is so well paced progressing from uncovering their new feelings for each other all the way towards the start of their HEA.
I liked how balanced Elle’s character is. She’s a sweet & kind young woman with a good head on her shoulders & wasn’t naively romanticizing Walker into something he wasn’t. She knew who he was before & after fell for him.
This is also the most connected I’ve felt to the hero in the series. It’s not so much a slight to Braxton or Myer(I loved Myer) as I feel like the focus of Wicked Hearts is shared & as much Walker’s story as it is Elle’s. Whereas with Rustic Hearts & Stone Hearts were more Sophie & Dallas’ than their men’s imho. Contrary to his own opinion, Walker has such a good heart. The gesture behind the snowball fight I think is one of the sweetest things I’ve read a hero do for the heroine in awhile & they weren’t even together yet.
If you’ve enjoyed the previous 2 or love good cowboy romance or brother’s best friend/best friend’s sister romance, you likely won’t be disappointed picking this one up.
My first read by Amber Kelly, and now I just want to read all her other books. This book left me an emotional and happy mess. Wicked Hearts is the third book in the Poplar Falls series and it was amazing.
I loved Elle right from the start. She has such a sweet and caring heart. My heart hurt for her and what she lost at such a young age. She’s lost a lot, but she also gained a lot too, especially a wonderful family. She’s come at a crossroads and is unsettled, she doesn’t know what to do with her life or more importantly she doesn’t know what her purpose is.
Be still my freaking heart I fell for Walker, hook line and sinker. There’s so much more than meets the eye with him. He’s more than a beer drinking playboy. He’s hardworking, sweet, loyal, funny and protective. He’s going through a dilemma, he’s tried to stay away from Elle, his best friends younger sister, but it’s become difficult. He knows he’s not good enough for her, but he can’t stop the feelings he has for her even though he should.
Elle and Walker were destined. Two souls searching for things that they found in each other. Their attraction and chemistry were undeniable. I loved their hidden looks, stolen moments, and flirty banter. I couldn’t help smiling every time they were together. I loved these two so much.
Wicked Hearts brought the feels. This small town romance was filled to the brim with laughter, sweet moments, and a loving family. Elle and Walker captured my heart. I need abs can’t wait for more of this series—so good.
*I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book*
Amber Kelly’s Wicked Hearts captured our emotions, and immediately drew us into the beautiful world of Poplar Falls. Harmless flirtation, and a shared moment of tenderness subtly transforms the course of Elle and Walker’s friendship. This passionate love affair remains a forbidden love, as they keep it hidden from friends and family. However, when their secret is exposed choas erupts! Will their love be strong enough to endure the challenge? A heartwarming novel!
Ugh, love that Elle and Walker ended up together!!!! But dammit I needed more! We barely touched on their time together, I wanted more feelings. Still, for such a quick read, it did pack a punch. Elle is Braxton’s younger sister by a decade, so he’s always been extremely protective of her, as has his best friend Walker.
Lately though, now that she’s 24, he’s started to look at differently. And she notices. Walker tries his hardest to stay away from Elle, but he finally gives in one night after seeing her with one too many men trying to get her attention.
Elle is determined to hide things from Braxton, even though Walker hates lying to his best friend, because they both know that he’s going to lose his shit. So of course, he sees them together and proceeds to lose his shit. He thinks Walker is still the carefree player, and he causes a huge scene.
I loved these two as a couple, they may actually be my favorite. I think. Myer and Dallas really did a number on me, but Walker and Elle together are sweethearts! I am so loving this series! Even though the epilogues are a touch predictable I don’t even care.
My lifestyle couldn’t be more opposite than the characters of Poplar Falls, but I just can’t get enough of this small-town. Centered around its cattle ranch, I love following the early morning grind and hard work these characters face each day.
After the loss of her parents as a child, Elle has been surrounded by the support of her family, including her overprotective brother, Braxton. While falling for the wild and carefree Walker Reid, longtime worker of the ranch and brother’s best friend, Elle begins to discover a different side of herself. Her newfound passion for Occupational Therapy was the sweetest touch.
With a history of friendship behind them, the banter between Elle and Walker was the perfect, slow burn tease. Rugged, rough-around-the-edges, and known for his inability to settle down, Walker is the last person anyone expects Elle to fall in love with. As they attempt to keep their blooming relationship a secret, I loved seeing Walker face insecurities from his past—I’m a softy for a damaged hero.
I’m absolutely loving Amber Kelly’s small-town romance series, Poplar Falls. Full of all sorts of feels; these stories are sexy, swoony, romantic escapes, and I can’t get enough. Amber definitely knows her way around a small-town romance, and her endearing characters, charming close-knit communities and passionate love stories are exactly the kind of feel-good romances I want to read right now. I died for Elle and Walker, these two owned me from the start and I could not put their story down until I had finished. Amber delivers an addictive friends to lovers, brothers best friend romance that gave me all the feels.
Wicked Hearts was beautiful and heartwarming love story. And I loved every single moment of it. The balance Amber struck between Walker’s vulnerabilities and his alpha/protective male side made him a completely swoon-worthy hero, and his pairing with the incredibly patient, thoughtful and kind, Elle, was nothing short of perfect. I was rooting so hard for them, and this tender romance packed full of delicious chemistry, was an addictive look into a friendship as it caught fire.
I am becoming so obsessed with Amber Kelly’s writing. She has a fantastic way with words that pulls you into her stories effortlessly and holds you captivated throughout. Her characters are warm, inviting and this town she has created is a place I would love to live. I’m anxious for the next book in this series and I can’t wait to see what comes next. This is without a doubt a must-read steamy romance that is sure to leave you with a smile on your face.
"—Estoy tratando de ser bueno, mujer. Eres belleza e inocencia. No debería tocarte así. No quiero manchar tu dulzura con mi salvaje corazón —le digo. La angustia gotea de mis palabras. Ella acerca su frente a la mía. —No —susurra contra mi boca. La miro. —¿No qué? —No seas bueno.

I found Amber Kelly last year and have been obsessed with her Poplar Falls series. Wicked Hearts is book #3. You can read it as a stand alone, but for the best dose of Rustic Peak, I would say start at book 1.
In Wicked Hearts we watch Elle find her love story. I was so in love with Walker from the beginning. There was just something there....
“He is sexy as hell. And that voice! His voice could melt the panties off an ice queen. And when he plays that guitar, damn.”
The author paints such a vibrant picture of this ranch and cattle farm nestled in the Colorado mountains. You seriously feel like you are part of the Lancaster family.
This one deserves a full ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for this wonderful small town romance/brothers best friend/little sister.
I've adored every book in the Poplar Falls series and this one didn't disappoint, this one was more of a slow burn romance compared to the other two books as you were half way through the book before any romance actually happened. I have to admit that was one of the things I loved though as I knew Elle and Walker would end up being in a relationship together but it just took them both some time before it actually happened. I adored Walker throughout these books and I was warming to Elle as a character which by the end of this I adored her. I loved their relationship and just loved being back in Poplar Falls and cannot wait for the next book in the series! I will definitely be checking out this author and seeing what other books she has done as I've adored these books so much and this is now one of my favourite series!
Wicked Heart, third book of the Poplar Falls series brings another romance from the Small town that has caught my attention from beginning to end, for bringing fantastic characters, a sweet and well-built character.
Elle and Walker's story is a slow- Burn that makes I enjoy the little moments between them: the look-changing, sexual tension and the fun dialogues. Elle loyal, sweet, who has a big one is great family. And Walker is a lot more than the playboy who appeared to be in the previous books, he's a good worker, a good friend, and he can be protective and sweet with Elle. I really liked their relationship. I just wish we had more of their moments together as a couple.
Channel your inner bad girl. A little wicked goes a long way when it comes to an Amber Kelly story. Elle and Walker give emotions a taste of what it means to be naughty. A good girl that has quite a wild side. A bad boy that with more than a hint of heart. Add a small town with more than enough big city scandal and the stage is set for temptation. Wicked Hearts is sweet serendipity.
Braxton, the overbearing and controlling older brother, really ruined this for me. He was insanely frustrating and this book wasn’t even about him. The relationship between the two main characters didn’t feel like it had much depth or substance. They barely had any meaningful conversations so it was hard to become invested in their relationship.
This was ok. The best part definitely was the family. I loooove them, even Brax and his overprotective OTT attitude. The first half was very nice and the few hints they gave each other was cute but I don't know, there was something missing. I hate how they didn't have a deep conversation about Walker's feelings and trauma. Aunt Doe literally told him "You're a good man, get off your ass and get over your deep wounds and trauma" and he did after struggling with them for 16 years lol. Now that I think about it, Elle and Walk didn't have much conversations with some substance... huh. Elle was a sweetheart as always, she acted more her age here but we didn't get an update about her career. It was a huge trouble for her but it was brushed super lightly by the end. Overall, this wasn't my favorite and I don't think I'll read it again but I'll read the next ones (when they come out) cause I truly love Poplar Falls and Rustic Peak's family.
Though I didn’t see this match coming, I loved Walked and Elle together. They were able to stay themselves and grow with each other. I really liked getting to know Walker better too!
Amber Kelly - Wicked Hearts: A Small Town Romance (Poplar Falls Book 3)
24-year old Elle feels lost in life. She’s always lived in Poplar Falls, but hasn’t found her career or calling yet. But when the ranch her family, friends and brother, Braxton, work on—Rustic Peak—expands and needs extra hands in several sectors of their business, they hire Elle on. And for the first time in a long while, Elle feels like she’s exactly where she needs to be.
When Walker was a teen, he was in desperate need of a job to support his high school sweetheart and that’s when he started working at Rustic Peak. The girl didn’t last, but he’s been working at RP ever since. Walker has vowed never to settle down and is quite the ladies’ man in Poplar Falls. He’s always been friends with his coworker/friend’s little sister, Elle, but she’s always been off limits. Besides, Walker knows she deserves only the best anyway.
But during a work trip and one too many drinks, Elle kisses Walker and everything changes between them. Elle feels herself falling for mysterious, off-limits Walker. Even knowing he isn’t the settling down type, she lets herself fall, which could very well land her heartbroken.
Wicked Hearts by Amber Kelly is book 3 in the Poplar Falls series. This series immerses you in this small Colorado town and into the family that works at Rustic Peak. Each book focuses not only on the romantic couple, but every character from past and future books. I think this is where this series shines; it’s also its downfall. When I read Stone Hearts, I wanted the story to focus more on the couple and less on everyone else because I didn’t get enough chemistry & buildup between the couple. I felt the same exact way when reading this one. Walker & Elle had the potential for a heartfelt, show-stopping romance. And while I enjoyed their story, I was left wanting more. I still am invested in this series though and can’t wait to pick up the next book. 3.5/5 stars.
3.5☆ | not a fan of the redeemed manwhore and brother's best friend trope but i really enjoyed this, it was a fun, cute and easy-to-read book. also that prologue made me shed some tears...
the main characters were very likeables, as were the side ones. i really liked Elle, she was funny, quirky and straightforward. and the fact that she was in a middle-20s-crisis without knowing what to do with her life was quite relatable, if i must say so. Walker was a bit crude, but he was cute to Elle and was totally smitten with her.
my only issue is that it took them a long time to acknowledge their feelings and even longer to start a relationship, so we couldn't see much of them as a couple, which caused the main conflict to happen and be resolved very quickly as well.
this group of friends is starting to grow in me and the small town factor is extra points so i'm excited about the next books in the series! the message at the end was quite cryptic so i'm not sure who the next couple might be; the part about being a rule follower makes me think of brandt and maybe... bellamy? but that phrase about the best of two worlds also makes me think of charlotte and payne so i'm not sure about anything rn
I absolutely loved this emotional, witty, and steamy read by Amber Kelly. She has such a a talent for writing real, raw characters that come to life while reading these pages. I couldn’t put this book down and finished in record time.
Another stellar book by Amber Kelly. She writes small town romance like no other. She has created the farm of Rustic Falls. It is a place of family, love, devotion and acceptance. It is a place you come to wish was real. The sense of family is so strong here and supportive.
I honestly love small town set romance books and this one ranks in a top ten town for me. You get to connect with past characters and find out what they’re doing. My escape when I read these books is epic!!
So this story has many twists and turns with lots of hidden feelings and denial. It has a friendship that slowly develops into something. Walker and Elle have been around each other for a long time. They both have tough pasts and things that are hard to get over. Together, they filter through things. It is a story of second chances and realizing you are more than you think. Everyone deserves a happy ending!!
