המשורר והחשפנית
בין עבודה מזדמנת אחת לאחרת, כולן בתנאים לא תנאים, יהושע חולם להיות יום אחד – ורצוי בהקדם – משורר מפורסם; כזה שמדברים עליו, מראיינים אותו, עושים סרטים על חייו. בינתיים, בדירה קטנה שהוא מתקשה לשלם עליה, הוא מקליד בלילות את שיריו במכונת כתיבה עתיקה (את המחשב הוא מדליק רק כדי לצפות בפורנו), ובימים הוא מתכנן מה יעשה במקדמה העצומה שיזכה בה עוד לפני התהילה. הוא מחליף עבודות, חורק שיניים במהלכן וחולם בו בזמן. כדי שספר שיריו יראה אור יעשה הכול, אלא אם כן מצפונו יעצור אותו.

2 books3 followersEli Shmueli (1977) is an Israeli writer and poet living in Jerusalem, Israel. His novel Marginsman, published in Israel in 2015, received the Israeli Ministry of Culture prize for Debut Literary Work, and three other literary prizes in Israel.
Shmueli's poems appear in Israeli national newspapers and in literary magazines, and were translated into Arabic, English and Spanish. His writing may be described as "dirty realism", as it focuses on the individuals who are commonly ignored in popular culture - the unsuccessful, those who did not accomplish their dreams. A collection of his poetry, The God That Failed Is You, was published in 2017. His coming novel will be published in 2019 by Am Oved Publishers.
Shmueli studied at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he obtained a bachelor degree in Psychobiology and a master in Neurobiologly, while working in construction sites, as a porter, in mental institutions and in other low-paying jobs he was referred to by employment agencies. The novel Marginsman, is based on his experiences from working as a zip codes typist in a post office distribution center.
He also writes political commentary, and was a human rights worker at B’Tselem – The Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories.
