Even the saved struggle when navigating their way through love. This much could definitely be said for the Fold Family’s oldest child, Angela. Perfection was the main objective when it came to Angela. She was stubborn, strong-willed, and completely incapable of relinquishing control, at times risking her own happiness to preserve the image of what others thought she should be. But just like glass, perfect images crack. And what’s left can either be cleaned up or left for somebody to step in. Angela must take it upon herself to figure out which way to go after leaving a toxic marriage. And she may or may not find refuge in an equally stubborn alpha-male by the name of Damien Christopher Briscoe. Take this journey of acceptance, sacrifice, and necessary surrender in this story of love unearthed in the final installment of The Fold!
Sabrina B. I had no idea Thou Shall Not Fear was going to be so heavy. Honey, by the time I finished this book, I needed a carton of cigarettes and a case of wine to calm my nerves. And, I don't even smoke! OMG, this book was soooooooo good! When I tell y'all, Briscoe and Angie stressed me the hell out. From her wanting to keep up the lie about having the perfect marriage then wanting to keep her divorce a secret to him knowing how manipulative Shondale was and still allowing her to walk back in his son's life. Ugh! I wanted to punch Briscoe in the face when he let her move in with him. But, you have to give the man his cool point for stepping up for Shondale considering how dirty she did him. I was very anti Shondale but, by the end, I praying for a different outcome for her. I loved me some Briscoe and Angie as a couple. Their chemistry was evident from that first phone call. Even though she was a total beeyatch when they first met. Briscoe was just what Angie's uptight self needed. He brought out the wittier side of her personality she rarely displayed to anyone. They really were perfect for one another. And, those sex scenes?!!! All, I will say is Sabrina B. Scales did that! Thou Shall Not Fear was the perfect end to this series. I'm so sad that it's over.
I was not ready for the heaviness this story came with, but I welcomed all of it. It is also safe to say Angie’s story is my favorite out of the siblings. Angela was still frustrating, but not nearly as bad as her siblings. She was a single parent, recent divorcee, navigating motherhood, and her business. Her and Briscoe’s relationship was a stressful one. Both made questionable decisions that frustrated the hell out of me, but they were absolutely adorable, their chemistry was off the charts, and those sexy scenes were HOT af. I truly didn’t expect to love this story so much. It was emotional, it was deep, it was sweet and it was funny. I wouldn't consider this series "Christian Romance," but I love how the author incorporated christianity in this book. I'm gonna miss those siblings. They were a treat getting to know. I enjoyed Sabrina's writing. Can't wait to read more. And as always, narration 10/10
I’ve been trying to leave this review for three days now but Goodreads and Amazon didn’t want me to be great! This book was amazing! I thought I loved the younger two Folds but Angela was my favorite. She was so much more than she seemed and even than she saw herself as. And Briscoe is DAT DUDE! Don’t know what I mean? Read the book!
The Fold Siblings will keep you laughing with their quick wit and their snappy comebacks...I ABSOLUTELY Loved this book. This story was took us through a wide array of emotions from dealing with grief and loss to finding love. I love the back story from both Damien (who was dealing with his son's mother and trying to unpack his feelings for Angela) and Angela understanding her role in her family and understanding that there's no perfect person. This story was captivating from start to finish. Not only is SBS an amazing story telling, but her words come to life with Wesleigh & Jakobi....Outstanding story...dare I say, this is now my favorite Fold story.
Beautiful story!! I laughed and cried thug tears during this book. I felt for Angela, she is the kind of person that deserves true love. She was a giver at heart but stone cold when it came to relationships. Her parents and ex definitely played a role in that. But something about Damien had her coming undone and I was so here for it! I loved everything about Damien! A passionate father and a provider, he really showed his true colors when he helped his ex. He loved Angela and their love was perfectly captured!! All the feels from this one!
Wesleigh & Jakobi, as always, were amazing! Their performances took you through the highs and lows of this story. This was a very adult love story. Angela and Briscoe, when they let their guards down, brought out the fun loving nature in each other. The story felt a bit rushed in parts but I loved the happy ending of all the Fold siblings.
This is my favorite book of the series. They have been building up Angela as this very judgemental and holy than thou person, and she was all of that. Well, except for the love scenes.
Angela is the eldest of the 3 Fold children, she strives to be perfect and to be the image of perfection. She is in a loveless marriage to someone she "trapped" into marrying her and thought she could change. Finally admitting the truth, she divorces her husband.
Damien Brisco is a single dad raising a son alone after his mother abandoned them for another man 3 years ago. They meet when gets the wrath of Angela over a space she paid for an event. Their relationship begins when they both drop their kids off for school and decide to have coffee.
I ugly cried for Damien Jr's mom and that whole situation. It was beautifully handled and the example of what it really means to be a Christian. This series has been about finding love, living your truth, and forgiveness. I really enjoyed these books and look forward to reading more of the author's work.
Alright, Sister Scales! What an amazing finale of the Fold siblings! We received such a good understanding of all three of the children in this one. I loved how Chad was there to support his sister with unwavering support, as she went through it, after having Boogie. Jada is just hysterical! That mouth of hers! The three of the them had such a close bond, it was beautiful. Pastor Fold was getting it in! I felt like I was on that middle pew receiving the word! Angela, Angela, Angela! So glad we finally got a peek inside of that head of hers. She is such a good person, with a huge heart. But, trying so hard to be perfect and not allowing yourself to be flaud, is exhausting and hard on those around you. Mr. Briscoe! Yes, ma'am! Such a good man, who was just the perfect match for Penny. This was a story that had so many emotional aspects. I was crying, then laughing, feeling sorrow and heartbreak, to just smile again. Such a great read!
From Cover to Cover Angela took me through it!!! We finally got to the bottom of her issues even seeing her tie in to Nedra and others. This book just took me through all the emotions. If I could project Briscoe into real life!!! He was strong, sexy and just a good noble man. I laughed, I cursed, I hollered like I was in church with them! This book was a climax to an excellent series that I can't wait to reread. Yet again Sabrina has moved up a notch as one of my faves. Her work is funny, emotional and so filled of life lessons. THIS BOOK IS A MUST READ!!!
Number 3 made it thrice as good. I knew Angela would tell us a different story. And she told her story. The Bougie Princess was a whole lot of goodness. I expected her to boss up, but I loved her even more at the end of her story. Damon was Real Truth. He gave Angie a picture of real love, and showed her it was okay not to fear love. You all, this author is also the truth. So good!
this book hit DIFFERENT. being the eldest daughter, i always love seeing the eldest girlies finding their happy ending. bc GIRL i’ll say it once and i’ll say it again, being the oldest isn’t easy + i feel like there is this universal experience for all eldest daughters. when jadalynn said “but what good is your giving if you’re pouring from an empty cup?”, i legit felt that in the deepest parts of my SOUL. i loved reading this book, and it’s been solidified as one of my fav reads this year & my fav book in this series (even tho they’re all SO GOOD i love all of these characters so much!)
now, ANGELA AND BRISCOE wooo i love how they love each other. the way they knew HOW to love each other + how to compromise without giving up themselves — i pray that i find a man like this 😂😍 (no, but fr tho, God - if you’re listening/reading this - a man like briscoe pls & thank you 🤞🏽)
love love LOVE this whole series! if you haven’t read this yet, then WHAT ARE YOU STILL DOING HERE SIS, go pick these up right now! you won’t regret it, promise 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽

I was not readyyyy. I was not expecting this one to be my favorite from the series, but it did its thing. It maneuvered heavy topics seamlessly, and still made space for each of them.
Angela - even in her nurturing, take charge, caring ways was given the space to submit and be taken care off. Not only in the ways she wanted, but in the ways she needed.
~
I must say that this isn’t a Christian Romance. It’s just a series of children of a Pastor who grew up in the church, but are living life as they know it.
Angela portrayed this stuck up, holier than thou character in the previous books but she was hiding parts of her life from everyone. She was still somewhat stuck up and Damion called her out on it. I actually did enjoy this book. Angela got herself together after being judgmental for so long. I actually started to like her as a person. It was a good ending to this series.
I went back and forth about this one. I wanted to give 3.5 but then I smiled as I thought of how well Scales wrote the church scenes. I also thought about how good of a challenge she used for her main characters and how simply touching this idea was. Briscoe and Penny’s story was I think the most deep one of the series. This gives all the traditional Fold experience with the questionable Christian actions and the subtle push to accept Penny’s mother who was a closeted lesbian married to a pastor for over 30 years. Penny was the child to give the mother the hardest time about her choices and for a long while I didn’t think Scales would even use the broken relationship, but close to the end she ushers it in. Penny is the PK that wants everything to be perfect to the point she lived a lie and hid the truth from everyone for the sake of appearances until she met Briscoe. It was still a challenge and that’s mostly what this one is about. Penny allowing herself to live without caring who judges her. Briscoe has to break down her walls of protection or perfection. Or both. I’ve read all three of these books and undoubtedly Scales uses the church as a backdrop and I’m just wondering where do these church folk come from ? Of course there’s issues in the church and nobody is perfect but goodness none of these people seemed fazed by anything. Not profanity, not fornication, not lying. And it was even insinuated that maybe Pastor Fold had something going on as well. Listen, if I’m reading a regular degular book that does not use the church as a center for the story I expect these things, but these characters were no different than any other book I’ve read. I guess the truest to the theme was the pastor. His sermons were actually really good. This however is NOT Christian fiction so go in with both eyes open. If I had to rate this one, I think it may be the best in the series because of the sensitive content.
Book 1 Oh lawdddd these pastor's kids had me cthu! But look, I really believe there is no better relationship than 2 people that grew up as friends. To me, it doesn't get any better than that. Jay really was acting childish, not only that, she was also being selfish of Drew's feelings. Had she just talked to him and listened to what he had to say, she wouldn't have went so many years feeling an unnecessary emptiness. Oh and Chad...mannnn this was my favorite character. I don't if there were many times he spoke and I wasn't ctfu😂. Grandma ain't no joke either😂😂😂. And Angela where is your husband? What are you not telling?🤔 Book 2 Early on in this book after I gave a sermon (the author wrote so descriptive she had me preaching the sermon with the pastor as I read the words🤦🏾♀️), IDK if the author attended for the light bulb to go off in my head that did, I don't know if it was their intention. All I know is outside of the brother being funny and a whore, outside of the oldest sister thinking she's bougie but minds everyone else's business, outside of the youngest sister thinking the world revolves her (book 1), outside of mom doing her "thing"...through the laughter and drama, the light bulb came on. It made me think how so many get ridiculed. Like your a fake and a phony about loving God if you do this or that or if you live a certain way. Like who TF are you to know and judge the relationship someone has with God? But anyways, Chad was a man whore😂. He wasn't about that settled down life and was going to let you know straight up. If you made it in his presence til morning after getting yo back blown out, chile you ain’t did nothing cause once your eyes open, yo azz gotta go! You don’t have to go home, but you're gonna have to get up out of his face, he's gonna make sure of that! Well until... Book 3 Ohhhhh Noooo Angela! How could you not see that you deserved so much better? I get desperation makes you do desperate things, but damn Babygirl 😫 Mannnnnn Briscoe, you had me smh like a mfer! All I could do was yell "WTH are you doing bruh?"🤦🏾♀️ 🖐🏾cause shit just got real and heavy😟. I like Briscoe a lot, there's no doubt that's he's a straight real man but after what I just read...if no character has ever earned my upmost respect of urban fiction characters, Angela just did. She took on an extremely heavy task flawlessly! I don't know if I could have done that with as much poise has she had. Girl let me straighten crown👸🏾 Finding out me and Angela might have something in common gave me reality check🧐 This was my first time reading this author and I really love how she bring her words and stories together. So much, that I am off to find another series by her 5*
***Spolier*** I listened to The Fold #3, "Thou Shall Not Fear" by Sabrina B. Scales, Narrated by Jakobi Diem and Wesleigh Siobhan via Audiobook. I really enjoyed The Fold #1 and #2. I loved the connection between Angela (Penny) Ford and Damien Christopher Briscoe. Their children, Patience and DJ, relationship was so cute. I understand why Angela acted the way she did. Being a Preacher kid and the oldest, brings alot of pressure on a person. I'm sure Angela always wanted to do right and put herself last. I even understand how she wanted to change Paul, her first husband/baby Daddy. When she realized he wasn't going to change and that they had a loveless marriage, she was embarrassed to get a divorce. (Ladies, remember you can never change a man!) Damien had a lot of things going on in his life: single-father, job (Parole Officer), second job (All Black Everything Experience). But when he met Angela, she made him forget everything. He felt at peace. I love how Damien was there for Angela even when she didn't want him to be. Angela was not used to someone taking care of her. She was used to being a superwoman. Throughout the series we learn of Pastor Chadwick Fold Sr. marriage of 31 years. I'm glad in The Fold #3, Pastor Chadwick and his ex-wife are able to be cordial and polite around each other. I'm glad all three children made up with their Mom and now have a relationship with her. I loved the wedding and the proposal. After listening to the series, The Fold #3 was my favorite. P.S. I thought it was funny that Damien watched the TV Show: Power.

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW: NARRATION:5 stars, WRITING: 3 stars, OVERALL: 4 stars. I listened to the complete box set of The Folds, narrated by Wesleigh Siobhan and Jakobi Diem. These are my first books by this author. The premise of these books is that each one highlights the love story of one of three siblings. The siblings are preacher’s kids who are all saved, but worldly at the same time. While the stories themselves are good, the writing is weak in places. The author does a good job of creating chemistry between the main characters, but sometimes the backstory outshines the main story. For example the relationship between the parents throughout all 3 books, Taya’s whole chaotic life (in book 2), and the death of Damien’s baby mama (in book 3).
This is an example of narration elevating a book to the next level. I am a Jakobi Diem stan. I listened to this because I had just finished reading a heavy book and needed to get lost in his voice. He did not disappoint and neither does Wesleigh. The narration is SPOT ON, even in places the story is weak, the voice acting keeps you going.
Wow! That’s weird….Hmmm 🧐, I absolutely read this book before! Still don’t recall which platform🤷🏾♀️. Nevertheless, “The Fold: Thou Shall Not Fear was the best book from the “Fold” series: “Thou Shall Not Hide” & “Thou Shall Not Run”. Thereafter, I just discovered there is a “Plus +” book available on Audible’s platform (8 hours). Had I known, I would have read this “Plus +” book first to mitigate against my numerous questions regarding events in these other two books & my ambivalence towards this “Fold” series🤷🏾♀️😮💨🤦🏾♀️🤨‼️ Meanwhile, although the final installment of this series storyline were convoluted and frequently juvenile too with Angela’s judgmental arrogance. …thank goodness for Damien Christopher Briscoe with the ideal remedy to liberate Ms. Angela Gisselle Fold 🤭🤷🏾♀️. …from herself to Repent (divorce isn’t the unpardonable sin)…Reconciliation (repair her relationship with her mom) & Renew (new man, new perspective & new experiences etc.)☺️😊‼️
Audiobook read! I love Wesleigh Siobhan and Jakobi Diem!
... so ... low key I'm sometimes a little weirded out by the [LOOK I'M IRREVERENT OK? I spent SO MUCH TIME at "Jesus Camp" into adulthood etc. So! I'm allowed to say this :P] but anyway - the "Jesus stuff." Like ... She's literally riding his dick and says "oh my God" and then thinks "oh I shouldn't take the Lord's name in vain."
:X
Girl.
The beginning too like... her dad worship. Like she goes way more in on her dad than God.
>.>
And a lot of the church stuff. That ... I didn't mind though actually the not beginning stuff but when the congregation steps up to help with and care for [Shondell?] ... :X a) my brain is gone forever these days/years so I can't entirely remember if it's her name, but also audiobook; I'm not sure how it's spelled.
BUT ANYWAY. That was nice. >.> BUT ALSO.
So Angela and Damien aka Briscoe. [Also I really liked Patience <3 she was so cute - and DJ too. Damn.]
Damien is such a good guy. And his mom. OMG LOL she was so great but also O_O so extra. But when he agrees to let [Shondell] crash with him - and he tells his mom (after she criticizes him) like "hey! I did it because YOU taught me to be Christian/kind and it was your voice I heard in my head!" and she was like "oh baby no."
... I mean he's obviously pretty smitten from the start because Angela is ... a lot. Like she's not awful but man does she present that way. She's also extremely hurt/damaged and has to work through that. I'm glad she and her mom resolved their conflict.
There's a lot in this book but also ... not ... really? [Like it didn't feel like the relationship developed so much. I guess I didn't look to see if this was labeled a romance; assumed it was since it's part of a series and book 1 was but ...)
And him taking her to the Sugar Shack was so sweet, ironically since it's a place so many people look down on.
I really liked Briscoe's scenes with his dad and uncle. The characters were generally well developed - so well developed, it's a little disappointing the relationship wasn't as much.
I liked their families getting together though - and all the "ambush." And Angela's snitching. I liked that she finally gets it's not about being perfect.
I dunno why I didn't read Chad's book; I wasn't interested in it really... but based on him helping Angela at first .. and ideally there being some time... maybe I will? Because obviously he's a good guy.
I'm not sure how I feel; like maybe a lot of this is mood etc too - so I liked it but I didn't love it but I might've missed stuff and started it over again immediately after finishing it?
This was the 3rd book in the series and it was the BEST out of the three. I was really surprised because the way Angela waa portrayed in the first two books, I had no expectation to like her character.
Once again, I found Wesleigh Siobhan and Jakobi Diem to be outstanding in the narration of this book.
I liked Briscoe and Angela. I liked the way their romance developed, the way they got to know each other. Admittedly, I was tempted to leave the book alone when Briscoe caved to Shawndelle, but I had to see it through. I was glad I did. Patience and DJ were sweet kids.
I felt like the family dynamic was different in this book, which was strange because Angela was not interacting with their mother at all. When when finally did, it wasn't a one time interaction that went nowhere.
Also, imho, Angela seemed to be more in tune to her faith than her siblings. I would have been interested in how her non profit and business started, but, I can't have everything. Lol.
Angela Fold and Damien Briscoe were two very strong willed individuals. This final book in the series and wrapped up some loose ends from the earlier books.
Only a small part of this 'romance' novel was actually focused on the romance. This book spent a lot of time focused on family issues and situations. Though I was glad to see Angela finally have a conversation with her mother, since her issues with her mother was discussed in the first two books (Jada and Chadwick's books) of this series, I still would've liked to get to know Damien and Angela as a couple. Up until the end of the book, they had actually only had one date. One date. It's hard to consider this a romance, when the romance was barely there.
All in all, I did enjoy this series and would definitely recommend it to others.
The final installment of The Fold series was very emotional. Oldest daughter Angela, has been hardened by heartbreak, post-partum depression and a disconnect from her mom. This daddy's girl is everyone's self-appointed Olivia Pope…except when it comes to herself. In walks Damien Bledsoe, and suddenly the sun is shining and the birds are singing. It took a little coaxing from her siblings and a whole lot of persistence from Bledsoe, but what will be, will be.
This book was so emotional, because it touched on healing, forgiveness, restoration, grace and mercy…all themes that define my 2023. My favorite character was little Miss Patience. What a perfect name for that beautiful child. To be honest, I couldn't find a charger to dislike in this one. Overall, I loved every minute of this book by @authorsabrinabscales and recommend it to everyone who has ever suffered a broken heart or loss.
Of the 3 'Fold' books, this was definitely more grown-up of the 3 and it is greatly appreciated. Reading the other books gave you a glimpse into who Angela was and I didn't particularly like her character. She was rude and mad all the time. This book, which highlights Angela's back story, allows for more understanding why she is the way she is. Of the 3 Folds' siblings, she's not my favorite, yet I liked this story. I loved Briscoe and his relationship with his son and I'm so glad that was explored in this book. The new characters introduced in this book definitely added a comical flare that was needed to break up the heaviness that came with this story. Short read, yet packs a punch and has lots of gems. Good read
I really enjoyed Angela's story. Being a woman of faith she wasn't sure if she would ever be able.to succeed in the love department until she met Briscoe. He was everything she needed to loosen her lil wound up tight ass right on up!!!! Realizing that she doesn't always have to be the one people run to in time if need she let's Briscoe in and it was all Sabrina wrote!!!!! I absolutely love these two together and their kids are just too cute!!!! I must say this one was a tear jerker but you will laugh alot and blush a little bit too! Oh and Congrats to my girl Jada, that's my BFF for real!!!!!!
Enjoyed the entire Fold series. Please don't mistake this book for being "preachy", but personally it was written well enough to make one feel as though they're in that church with Pastor Fold's family. "Briscoe" and Angela both had a healthy dose of fear regarding past failed relationships, but whew the heat generated when they took the courage to let go of those fears. There were great laugh out loud moments as well as some more serious moments which all made for a very interesting read; didn't want the series to end.
