Peter Brandvold - .45 Caliber Vol 1 – Reviewed 3/17/20 - Read 3/8-13/20
How can a man live with himself if he does not seek revenge for the death of his parents???

Cuno Massey and his father, together have a freight company that brings them even closer after his mom died. His father took her death badly leading him to the bottle and lots of problems. After falling in love with a soiled dove that truly cared for him, he was in the process of rebuilding his life. Returning from a freight run that had taken them several days, as Cuno started unloading the freight his dad when to the house to give his wife a dress that he had purchased for her. The next thing Cuno knows is his dad is accused of murdering his wife. His dad was incarcerated! In the sheriff’s investigation, he figured out that his dad could not have done it. After leaving the sheriff’s office, Cuno and his dad stopped at the saloon to have a drink.

Earlier on the day of her murder, one of his stepmom’s previous clients had arrived in town and had asked after her. When two tough-looking hombre’s descended from the upstairs, his dad accused the one, Rolf Anderson, a gun for hire killer. His pal, Sammy Spoon wasted no time in shooting and killing Cuno’s father and then wounding Cuno himself when he reached for a gun to fire at the pair.
When Cuno recovered, he made up his mind that he could not live with himself if he did not seek revenge for his stepmom and father. Cuno was not truly familiar with handguns, or for than matter even sitting a horse. Mainly his life had consisted of growing up on the bench of a freight wagon and some hunting with his dad. Everyone tried to talk him out of it, but nothing could change his mind. Leaving his hometown he started the long process of learning how to ride, use of his handgun and finding the men that killed his family. This volume contains the following stories, .45 Caliber Revenge, .45 Caliber Fury, .45 Caliber Manhunt, .45 Caliber Deathtrap, and .45 Caliber Widow Maker.

What did I like? You know I have been reading for many years and it still amazes me how authors, take a thought and massage it, weave it, and write it, into the most amazing stories. Peter has the skills and imagination that mystifies me as to how he comes up with the most awesome stories. Takes that same thought and develops these characters that we all grow to love. I have not had the chance yet to read all of the books that he has written but everyone that I have read so far has been just wonderful.

What will you like? From the moment that life dumped onto Cuno the worse that life could give, to the love for his first horse, the learning process of using a gun and hitting what he was aiming at, living and learning the ways of the wilds, the unsavory men that will roll you for your money or food, to the first taste of love, this book will keep you up late at night. The desperate situations that you will cringe at, the pain of the injuries, to the humor of being teased and loved, to the final release of revenge. The journey to find that release will have you smelling the fires, tasting the beans, hearing the gunfire and feeling the pain of a boy that has to grow up too fast in a world that will not wait. The west is wild and you have to work hard to be able to handle what it dishes out, but Cuno does it with humor, grit, and love. You can join him on the trip by adding this book to your western library.

Having read several stories penned by Mr. Brandvold,I I was compelled to read this compassionate masterpiece by him. To my comforting pleasure Cuno becomes one of my most favorite new hero! Never a dull moment throughout the entire series of realistically outstanding old western folklore masterpieces I have been fortunate enough to having had the opportunity to follow!

Definitely deserving of the five stars I awarded for this compelling series of realistically motivated old western folklore adventures. There are enough suspenseful episodes to maintain anyone's undivided attention throughout the entire book. The compassionate storylines definitely portrayed the Author's outstanding knowledge of how our old American West was probably tamed, and his character selections certainly portrayed their assignments with exceptionally outstandingly heartwarming endeavors from beginning to end.
Most definitely recommend this fascinating series of outstanding western adventures to all readers, but especially to all of you western addicted enthusiasts, who love endearing masterpieces of how our old West was probably tamed. You non-western readers will certainly be appeased with Cuno, and his associates,as they bring justice in unusual circumstances throughout this compelling series of western folklore adventures.😃

Stories somewhat like the Old West really was.

These are interesting books that tell it like it was in the Old West. Bad men were really bad and good men were bad and good. Most all the females in the books work in fun houses or are in your really bad category. These aren’t your westerns from TV or movies. The books show the development of Cuno and how he tries to lead his life. The author did a good job of puttering the story together to make them interesting. Any and all Peter Brandvold’s books are worth reading. Read and enjoy.

This story starts slow as Cumo Massey's desire to avenge his fathers death is a learning process as he has to learn to be a gun fighter. Cumo gets better and reminds me of the character Yakamia Henry as he kicks butt and takes no prisoners. Over all the series of 5 books is pretty good and well worth purchasing.

A hard edged series with excellent characters out of the old west

Hard times and hard men challenge the youngster who would rather be left alone to haul freight over tough terrain. But when they kill people close to him, his short temper and fast gun settle in to bring justice to a lawless area. A tough and earthy series with outstanding action. Well worth the time.

This is an action packed collection of stories that are linked together , and make a good read. The stories are a bit gory, but not too much, so you can enjoy a good read.

rugged, ruthless, hell bent, likable and focused on the mission.

From the beginning volume 1 was a page turner. One could smell the West and feel one man’s conviction with a flood of visuals. Volume 11 next!

This book includes five stories following the life of the main character, Cuno Massey. It is full of action and suspense and hard to put down. I really enjoyed the whole book and was sad when it ended. I will definitely look for the next volume.

Cuno Massey is very much like a Texas Ranger, but without a badge... Volume 1 consists of 5 books, a continuing storyline, and a high action packed adventure in the old west... RECOMMENDED!

Good stories but a. Little over killing. He finally found justice. It all started by a man that lost his wife to a gang.
