Heartbeat is an emotional, friends to lovers, contemporary romance written in K. Bromberg's Everyday Heroes World.
We kissed once. In high school, I kissed my best friend Clara. I was prepared to confess my love for her and make her mine, but a sudden tragedy derailed my whole life. After that, I went back to being her friend Dax—nothing more, nothing less. When she married someone else, I thought I’d lost my chance forever. I threw myself into my work as a cardiologist. It kept me so busy I could barely think of anything outside the sterile walls of the clinic. My patients were all I needed… or so I thought. After the devastating loss of her husband, Clara and her son move back to this small town. The more time we spend together, the more I realize how empty my life is. Every day with them, the hammering hope in my chest grows stronger. I begin to think Clara will finally see me the way I’ve always seen her. My heart has always beat for Clara. When she learns the truth about my feelings, will her healing heart beat for me too?

Georgia is a new author to me and I am now quite the fan girl. She has given me a feel good story filled with wonderful characters. I fell in love with Clara and Dax. They have been friends forever. So many missed opportunities have passed to be so much more than best friends. Clara is now a young widow with a 10 year old son. She returns home to regroup and be with familiar faces. Dax is now ready to be supportive once again, be her rock, her shoulder and hopefully show her who his captured his heart so many years ago and why it only beats for her. ~~Michele McMullen ~~
Heartbeat by Georgia Coffman is set in K. Bromberg's Everyday Heroes World and it blew me away! It was my first book by Georgia but definitely won't be my last. I fell head over heels in love with Clara and Dax from the very first interaction we witness between them. Even with everything she's overcome Clara is so strong. And Dax? He also has a lot of past he carries around, yet he's become an amazing man. Their friendship? One for the books and for the ages, truly beautiful to witness even as it was an emotional rollercoaster ride of a journey with twists and turns. Their chemistry? Hot! The tension? Palpable! The secondary characters? A hoot, and I ABSOLUTELY want to read all of their stories! Sienna, Staci, Brooks, Willow and Zack; each of them contributed to a beautiful story, enhancing it wonderfully. If you're looking for a story that will hit you with all of the feels, have the sweetness of small town romance, and definitely deliver you on all of the charm and love, look no further than Heartbeat!
This book is to die for!! It had me swooning so much that my emotions were everywhere while reading. Clara and Dax's story was absolutely fan-freaking-tastic.
Clara and Dax have been friends since they were kids. They both hid how they felt for years after Dax's lost his parents. Clara moved away and married. After the death of her husband her and her son moved back home. Throughout the years she was gone her and Dax talked all the time they were still close and best friends. One night everything changed and Dax told Clara the truth about how he felt about her. Clara was scared to move on she thought it would hurt her son after his dad passed. But Clara soon realized that she couldn't be without Dax.
This story is absolutely great! If your looking for a romance book that has all the feels and has steamy moments that will melt your phones or tablets well look no further THIS IS THE ONE!! This is my first book by Georgia Coffman and I'm hooked! I can't wait for the next book in this series!! The author did an amazing job on the storyline, characters and grammar!!
Wow. This book was so sad for me. Some parts I wanted to cry for both of these characters, but also hoping that somehow they will figure everything out. Dax and Clara were childhood friends. And one night when Dax kissed her she realized that he was always there for her and he was the one she wanted. The next day tragedy strikes and it felt like they missed their chance.
Clara went to college, got married and had a child. Now years later she is back a widow with her son. And to be closer to her home and her best friend. When Dax finally confessed his feelings for her, she doesn’t know how to handle it. How can she move on when her son lost his dad, wont that hurt him and hurt her relationship with him. But also can she live without Dax in her life? How will she decide?
I loved Dax. He was sweet, funny, and was so good for Clara and her son. I just wanted to hug him man. Clara you could see was heartbroken over her husband but also guilty feeling like she couldn’t move on. Definitely a story that will touch you and have you feelings all the emotions
This hits me right on the feels! This is such an amazing book, I didn't want it to end. This kind of book just makes it hard to not love friends to lovers trope. Add in the element of second chance, boom, AMAZING! Dax and Clara, it is about time for them to finally be together and have their chance at love. It was so satisfying when he confesses his feelings after all those years. Man, that right there got me. And I love Clara's son, Jacob.
I highly recommend this one! It's amazing, you don't want to miss this one
This was a very sweet and emotional friends to lovers story that I really enjoyed reading. Dax and Clara have been in love with one another for as long as they can remember, but when tragedy strikes they both hid their have feelings for one another once again. Dax is now a successful cardiologist, while Clara is a widowed single mom who is finally living back in their hometown. These two have always remained close despite the physical distance, but now that they don't have anything to keep them apart, will they finally be able to tell each other how they've always felt? Or will time forever be against them?
I wasn't expecting this to be as emotional or as sexy as it was, but I definitely enjoyed every minute of this book! Another great addition to the every day heroes world!!
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**
Georgia Coffman is a new to me author, and I can honestly say, Heartbeat won't be my last read of hers!
✓ Small town romance ✓ Friends to lovers ✓ Sexy Doctor ✓ Full of emotion
Heartbeat is a beautifully told story of second-chance love when Clara and her son Jacob move back to her hometown after her husband's passing and reunites with her childhood best friend Dax.
While their relationship slowly evolved from friendship to something more, it was done tastefully, complete with all the emotions that one would expect when there were certain hurdles to overcome. Dax's relationship with Jacob added another layer of sweetness to a story that I enjoyed from start to finish, well done!!
I love a good friends-to-lovers book, and you won't be disappointed with this story between Dax and Clara. I also like that this book had a little bit of second chance involved in it, which is also a trope I can never say no to.
This is another great addition to the K. Bromberg Everyday Hero world!
This is an ARC review. All opinions are solely my own.
Heartbeat by Georgia Coffman is a new release from the Everyday Heroes World started by K. Bromberg. This is a friends to lovers romance that has a bit of second chance thrown in.
Dax and Clara have been friends since they were kids. They always leaned on each other through the best and worst of times. Clara returns to their hometown after devastation and Dax is now a successful doctor. These two have had a long-standing chemistry and it hasn't cooled off over time.
I enjoyed the friendship Dax has with Staci and Brooks. The way Clara has to navigate a new life feels very genuine. The way her family rallies around her is heartwarming. Clara's relationship with her mother is very revealing because they've moved past the parenting stage and are friends.
Let me warn you that around chapter 15 there will be a deep gasp. Keep going. Georgia Coffman makes it all complete. Dax and Clara are brave. The last words of chapter 20, "Because wow." That's all you really need to know.
This is a beautiful love story that spans decades and will leave the reader feeling fulfilled.
I was honored to read an ARC of Heartbeat. There are so many things I loved about this book but what I loved most was how real it all felt. It was as if I was living in the middle of the uncertainty between Dax and Clara. I felt every magical moment they shared. The passion when they kissed. The devastation in their hearts. The love they had for one another. I could relate to Clara. I also had a male best friend in high school and was constantly defending our relationship to everyone. We loved each other, not the way Clara and Dax did, but there's something special about that bond between a man and woman when they are best friends that is strong and unbreakable. If you’re looking for a book that will fill you with hope and your heart with love… this is it!
Dax and Clara had been friends since they were children however over time their feelings evolved into something deeper until fate had other plans and their lives went in different directions. Years later Dax’s career as a cardiologist has exceeded his expectations but the same can’t be said for his personal life.
Clara has loved and lost which has her returning to her hometown looking for a new beginning with her son. When she and Dax reunite the connection and chemistry between them hasn’t diminished but will this be their second chance or is the pain of their past too much to overcome?
This is a story about two people who still bear the emotional scars of their pasts but in each other find not only love but hope for the future as well.
"Heartbeat" by Georgia Coffman featured a well-crafted friends-to-lovers romance between main characters Clara and Dax, whose compelling story kept me turning the pages long past my bedtime. Dax and Clara faced more than their fair share of heartbreak on the way to their HEA, but their witty banter provided plenty of lighter moments. Ultimately, I found theirs to be a hopeful story; they proved that there can still be life after loss, and the future looks bright for Dax and Clara as a family with her son, Jacob.
I loved the book's secondary characters just as much as Dax and Clara themselves. I particularly enjoyed Clara's son Jacob and the sweet relationship he developed with Dax, as well as Dax's sister Willow and her husband, Zach. They were an adorable couple and obviously very much in love. Clara's neighbor Sienna was a lot of fun too; she was such a fish out of water, and I had to laugh every time she referred to Jacob as the "tiny human." Finally, Dax's friends Brooks and Staci were awesome, and I look forward to reading their story soon.
Overall, I loved "Heartbeat" and highly recommend it for all fans of emotional contemporary romance. I can't wait to find out what Georgia Coffman writes next, as well as what else the Everyday Heroes World has to offer!

Oh my heart! How I loved Clara and Dax. Forever lifelong friends who have always been there for each other through thick and thin. Their chemistry is off the charts. And Jacob steals the show throughout the book. I just loved them all!
Tragedy strikes both of them and missed opportunities take place. Now Clara finds herself back home, a widow and mom to 10-year-old Jacob, and once again Dax, her best friend is there for her. But Dax has a secret. One he's been holding on since the night of Senior Prom. The night that changed everything for both of them. Can he find the courage to tell Clara? Or will he stay in the safe zone and not risk losing his best friend forever.
This book not only has great main character but the secondary characters had me just as engaged. Plus we will get a second book with Staci and Brooks - Dax's co-workers, which I can not wait for!
Omg!! I am so in love with this book!! 💖 It had so much sweet moments! I loved Clara and Dax so much!!
This is a great friends-to-lovers romance where for once the guy has been in love with his best friend 😂 I adored the friendship that Dax and Clara shared. It is so rare to find friends that stay so close even after they move away and start a new life.
Both Clara and Dax had experienced loss at some point in their lives and that only made them stronger and able to understand each other better. I loved how Dax was such a gentlemen and the bond he shared with Jacob. It also made me sad that Dax thought that he doesn't deserve Clara's love 😭 That just broke me!!
Clara was a very strong character, she had to deal with the loss of her husband and be a single, working mom!! She is a superhero, if you ask me! She had the best family - they were so sweet and accepted Dax as their own.
Honestly, such an amazing read!! I really enjoyed it!! Can't wait for Staci and Brooke's story. That's going to be an interesting one!!
P.S. I was provided with an ARC in an exchange of my honest opinion.
If you want a swoon-worthy read with a sexy doctor, Heartbeat is perfect for you.
Georgia does an amazing job of pulling you into the Sunnyville world and leaves you wanting more. From the first pages I was hooked and could not get enough. The characters that she creates are so relatable even if you haven't been in their shoes. You can sympathize with Clara over the loss of her husband and being afraid to let herself live again. But you just feel for Dax though, pinning after his best friend for pretty much his entire life in the hopes of one day fate being on his side. The whole book, I was rooting for Clara and Dax to get together, or at the very least for Dax to finally find happiness.
OH MY HELL! Heartbeat was an amazing story that I never wanted to end. Clara & Dax were best friends since they were young kids, and in high school, they kissed but then something happened to throw Dax's world into chaos so they went back to the friend zone. Clara finally married someone else, but they still stayed friends. Poor Clara's husband passes away so Clara & her son moved home, and this time Dax isn't going to let her get away. However, it's not so easy, because Clara needs to get past some issues she has so she can finally have that HEA with Dax. I'm telling y'all this story is EVERYTHING! The emotional aspect took my breath away, and the absolute perfection of Dax had me swooning like a girly girl which isn't at all easy. So, everyone needs to hit their one click buttons immediately as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
Clara and Dax will have you hooked from start to finish. This story sorta broke my heart. Dax has always loved Clara but when tragedy strikes the moment slips by for their relationship to become more than just best friends. Dax and Clara have always remained best friends. Years later, after the death of Clara’s husband she is back in their small town.
This friends to lovers, second chance romance will have you in all your feels. Be prepared to fall in love with these characters.
5 star Heartbeat (The Everyday Heroes World) by Georgia Coffman
Georgia Coffman is a new author to me and I have no idea why I have not come across her before. From start to finish I was totally invested in Dax and Clara’s story. Set in K. Bromberg’s Everyday Heroes World, this was a great addition to what has fast become one of my favourite collection of books; I have found so many new authors reading this series. This is a second chance at love story and one that ticked the boxes for me. There were times my heart almost broke for these characters, particularly Clara and her son who have been through such loss. I was cheering for Clara to see the love that Dax has for her and that there is light at the end of a dark tunnel. The attraction and chemistry that sizzles between them is too much to ignore. Will Clara be brave enough to let Dax break down the walls she has surrounded herself with when she learns that he has loved her forever? Heartbeat evoked numerous emotions whilst reading, there were tears and laughter and it was a beautifully written love story.
This Book! It was so beautifully written and chalked full of all my favorite things!
Dax and Clara are best friends and have been since they were kids. There was a moment in time the two grew closer and seemed they would connect romantically, but tragedy strikes for a young Dax that sets the pair on very different paths in life. So different in fact, they move on to other people and lead lives separate of each other; although they always maintained their very close friendship.
After a painful tragedy, Clara finds herself as a single mom and back in her hometown where Dax is the resident doctor. These two reconnect very quickly as the best friends they’ve always been, but there is a hint of something more. It’s clear Dax is crazy about Clara and has been for most of his life and Clara is still reeling from her personal tragedy to see it. As the two get closer and closer, the revelations they reveal to each other make you SWOON!
Timing is everything, and this is definitely their time! The coming together is everything you want it to be and more!
“I told you I’d wait because I thought you just needed time, and you’re worth every minute. But I don’t think that’ll be enough...I’m not enough because I’m not the one you want,” I whisper, the realization making the monitors flatline in my head.”
...the one who got away...hopeful...friendship...heartache...loss...humor...tender moments...love...uncertainty...regret...alone...pride...family...comfort...safety...
This book has so much emotion written throughout. Second chances that turned into heartache and hope. There is humor and familiarity. Friendship and love. There are a few couples that you meet along the way and I’m hoping to get all of their stories.
“I’m left standing here with my thoughts swirling around me like I’m trapped in an elevator. I can’t push the emergency button on my life, and my claustrophobia suffocates me.”
There are so many relatable moments. Between loss, friendships, crushes, balancing work and relationships, endings and new beginnings.
‘It’s not about the time you don’t have together. It’s how you spend the time you do have together.’
Loved It! Make sure you start it early or you'll be up to the wee hours of the morning playing the "one more chapter" game. This book has great characters, their interactions are engaging and entertaining, there is enough angst to keep you turning the pages, and builds enough steam to fog your windows. I love it when adult characters deal with issues in an adult way instead of stomping around angry and refusing to use their words. This book has it all. Don't miss it! You won't be sorry.
This book was absolutely amazing my emotions didn’t know what to do. Clara and Dax have been friends since they were kids, I love these type books. They just get me right in the feels and I love it. They both hid how they felt about one another because Dax has lost his parents. So, as they got older Carla moves away and gets married. When her husband dies, she movies back home with her son. Even though her and Dax never stopped talking they were still close friends. One night everything changes, and Clara realizes that she can’t live with out Dax. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I know for sure that it’s not going to be my last.
Heartbeat was an emotional friends-to-lovers story that with steal a heartbeat. Dax and Clara are part of the Everyday Heroes series by K. Bromberg.
Dax and Clara have been friends since they were kids trading cookies in the lunchroom. They have been there for each other through the best and worst of times. One kiss as teenagers changed things but like all meant to be love story’s a tragic event stole the moment. But another tragic moment has brought them back together and this time one night changes everything.
Beautifully written are the words that come to mind when I think of Dax and Clara’s story. But I might be a little biases because everything Georgia has written has been addicting and amazing. It was great to see Georgia take a step into K. Bromberg’s world and add some lovable characters that fit so perfectly.
Wow, what a beautiful story. Georgia Coffman took a friends to lovers trope and gave it a fresh spin. This is a story of dedication. Dedication to friendship, dedication to loyalty and dedication to love.
Clara and Dax have been friends their entire life, and Dax has been in love with her for that long as well, but due to circumstances beyond his control their relationship never came to fruition. Fast forward to the present, and Clara is a mom and a widow, are the stars finally aligning?
This story is emotional, it will suck you in and make you care and root for these people. It has everything a good story needs. Don’t miss out on this one!
Oh I loved this so much. I love friends to lovers and this had some angst thrown along with Clara now being a single mom, and I just couldn't put it down. It's emotional and sexy and so darn good. For my first book by this author it was a hit!
A beautiful emotional best friend's to lovers romance. Dax has been in love with Clara almost all his life but obstacles always got in the way before he could ever confess his love. Now she is back in town and Dax has a chance to confess his love but is their room in her heart to accept his love. Clara moves back home with her son a year after losing her husband to cancer. The more time she spends with Dax again she starts to see him differently, but can she risk crossing a line and maybe lose her best friend. I enjoyed reading their journey as they struggle with life and trying to see if they could be more. I also loved the side characters and can't wait to read their stories too.
Dax and Clara were best friends at school before a tragic event, and when Clara moved away and got married. Now that her husband has passed Clara returns to her hometown with her 10-year old son Jacob. Dax is a successful cardiologist and when he and Clara connect again their friendship evolves into more, and there are some challenges they need to overcome. This is a beautifully written tale which is filled with emotions, loss, grief, heartbreak, passion, love and is a humorous and all-consuming read. I was hooked and intrigued throughout, and I highly recommend for all.
This is the first book that I have read by Georgia Coffman and it definitely won’t be my last! From the first page to the last, Clara & Dax captivated me while their story consumed me!
I loved Clara & Dax and going on their journey of navigating from friends to more. It definitely wasn’t an easy journey, but worth it. I loved all the little moments that turned into so much more.
I can’t wait to read more by Georgia Coffman in the future.
