"Deadliest Bidder" by Alan Brenik is the second book in his Nick Teller urban fantasy series. I loved the first book, "Rogue Arcanist", and eagerly anticipated this one. I hadn't expected it to include Herne (seen on the cover).
This is an intriguing British fantasy. Trial quests seem popular in fantasy novels at the moment, and "Deadliest Bidder" has its own take on that, grounded by the well-developed character of the hero. There's a twist at the end that slapped me (did not see it coming, tho ...more
