Night Passenger

Thorne hasn't seen Blake in almost a decade and isn't glad to see him now.

They served together in the Marines, but Blake hasn't tracked him down to catch up on old times. He needs Thorne's help to steal a painting from an art gallery and he isn't just asking.

Unless Thorne agrees, bad things will happen to the woman he loves.

The heist is a disaster and soon a young cop lies dead. As the gang flee the scene, Thorne realizes that Blake plans to target the painting's owner, and kidnap his wife.

Thorne will stop at nothing to save them.

Explosive thriller, perfect for fans of Lee Child, Michael Connelly, and Gregg Hurwitz.

This is the best thriller novel I have read in the last 10 years.

I never write reviews, but I had to for this book. Quite simply, it is amazing. After reading it parts would come back to me while I was doing other things, and I would smile, remembering it. Some crime books now are utterly forgettable, but this one is not like that. Characters were all fully realized and believable, they stopped being 'characters' or featureless good guys and bad guys.

I look forward to reading more by this author.

Lots of twists and turns and I found this to be really good read. The reader is given a lot of insights into different characters and it held my attention to the end. Having completed the book, as I reflect, it has covered a lot of ground. It is little wonder I feel exhausted. Well done to the author, David Stanley, and I very much look forward to joining the character Chris Thorne on another roller coaster of a ride in the future. A very well deserved 5 stars.

A very good read.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's the kind you can put down and come back to later, and be right back in the story. Captivating story line that stays in your memory, perhaps a little grusum at times -- but it certainly adds to the flavor. Very well written. Thank you David.

This is quite the gripping read with a good dose of twists and turns, a botched heist, betrayals, a man hunt and enough romance to make the entire story a page-burner. Nice tight writing delivers a fast paced, action packed thriller. Chris Thorne is a memorable and enjoyable character that you feel compelled to follow along beside. Night Passenger is a deft and elegant underworld debut by this author. Nicely done.

I selected this from an advert on Facebook. There were the usual 5* reviews included but I've learnt not to accept those on face value.

I began reading this and was intrigued by the plot. This seems to be a riff on the Jack Reacher model but enough differences to avoid being a clone.

Unfortunately it began to slow down and then the story seemed to reach a semi-crescendo, only to slow back down again. This happened several times and is the weakness here. The book is overlong, the story stretched to thin. It really could gave done with ome serious editing.

This ould have scored higher if the story was reined in.

Lots of people are loving this, but as have to disagree (and I gave it a damn good go, read to 50% on my Kindle).

While all the ingredients are there, it feels like writing 101. All the regular thriller plot points are covered and the characters are reasonably fleshed out (although there were hints of misogyny in there with a woman described as slutty.. but in a nice way of course) but somehow it just doesn’t come together as a total package.

There’s a chance that Mr Stanley will breathe life into future novels, but for me - it’s not worth taking a chance on.

A pretty good read.

You could tell this was the authors first book, but it’s worth reading. I’m looking forward to reading number two.

An impressive first novel, with a good story line and fast pace.

The author David Stanley’s excellent writing style is very much in the US crime genre, and is reminiscent of the work of Lee Child, but with some of the dark humour of Raymond Chandler.
This is a well-crafted story with three dimensional characters and a relentless pace, and the tension is maintained right up to the end. Very enjoyable, can’t wait for the sequel!

Couldn’t put this down. Fast-paced from the beginning. Lots of action, heist gone wrong. Strong story line. Can’t wait for the next in the series. I wonder who could play the lead role in a film? (Not Tom Cruise - no offense, Tom)
