Life goes on after tragedy. Fairy life goes to hell in a handbasket.
Struggling to balance life as a mom and a queen, Grace Ann Bryant leans on those who she trusts the most to protect her children. Astor, who returned from Summer with her, has taken up nanny duties for Aydan and Winnie while Levi has turned into her constant shadow. However, she’s made her decision to take back the Otherworld. Before she even sets her plan in motion, a dead human shows up within the protective wards of Shady Grove.
The eyeless corpse sets off a curse that pits longtime friends against each other. Petty arguments escalate quickly, and the town begins to tear itself apart from the inside. All the while, someone is leaving haunting objects around town for Grace. Holding it together, she pushes back her grief, again and again, focusing on her children and Shady Grove.
Side-by-side, Grace, and Levi search out the culprit who enacted the curse as she waits for Levi to tell her what happened to him while in the Otherworld. The Evil Eye has come to Shady Grove, and the Queen of the Exiles will discover the truth about Levi’s scars and face their maker in a curse-charged battle.
Sight for Sore Eyes is about the things you can see, the things you can’t see, and the things you refuse to see. Will Levi and Grace stop the curse on Shady Grove? Why is there a fairy town in the middle of Alabama? Will Grace ever see Dylan again? Sight for Sore Eyes is Book 8 of the Fairy Tales of a Trailer Park Queen by Kimbra Swain.
From early in life Kimbra Swain was indoctrinated in the ways of geekdom. Raised on Star Wars, Tolkien, Superheroes and Voltron, she found herself immersed in a world of imagination. She started writing in high school, and completed her English degree from the University of Alabama in 2003. Her writing is influenced by a gamut of authors including Jane Austen, J.R.R. Tolkien, L.M. Montgomery, Timothy Zahn, Kathy Reichs, Kevin Hearne and Jim Butcher. Born and raised in Alabama, Kimbra still lives there with her husband and 5 year old daughter. When she isn't reading or writing, she plays PC games, makes jewelry and builds cars.

There are some books that forcefully pull the emotions and reactions out of you without warning and without preamble. That was “Sight for Sore Eyes” the 8th book of this series for me. I went in knowing it was going to be a heavy one, but I underestimated how truly emotional it was and how deeply it would make me feel. Grace battles to fight her way back to some semblance of normal all while taking care of her children and Shady Grove. She has support, but a huge part of her is missing and you truly feel every stab of pain, every roll of her stomach, every silent tear as her strength and determination continue to shine through the toughest of days. This book is almost breathtakingly beautiful, written so well and so emotional that all these feelings are almost tangible. Kimbra Swain wrote this book in a way that doesn’t undermine any fear, pain, love, hopeless and hope. It all ties in perfectly together, heavy yet beautiful, even while tears are streaming down your face. I believe this is probably the best book written in this series so far, which is saying so much, considering all the others are fantastic. “Sight for Sore Eyes” will leave you with a heaviness in your heart but a fire in your belly. I’m ready for war, right beside Grace and her followers.
I have read and enjoyed the whole series but none of them really brought out my emotions like THIS book. You need to read the whole series but THIS ONE is the one that is the STAR of the show. I have said it before and I will say it again, Kimbra Swain gets better with every book she writes!!!
After Book 7, I was so unhappy with the series. Three men who all loved Grace and no other, might as well be a reverse harem. And all the drama and so much unresolved, I was done.
Then I downloaded this book and let it sit. I skimmed to the back, saw Kimbra's note and gave this book a chance. I LOVED it. It was exactly what I needed and resolved so many issues I saw arising from the previous book. Now I am back on the Trailer Train.
I so looked forward to another book about my fave Trailer Park Fairy Queen and this book doesn't disappoint at all. I found myself happy, sad, ecstatic and also crying. Grace is amazing, as are all her extended family, but they all must beware the Evil Eye. The green mist could put an end to Shady Grove. This is not an HEA so have your tissues ready.
I was not expecting that ending. I couldn't stop the tears of I tried. This series is not something I typically read but came across it on Facebook and figured I give it a try. I was completely hooked and can't wait to see what happens next.
Kimbra Swain outdid herself. This was a emotional rollercoaster with an outstanding ending! She handled this critical part in the series masterfully. Very well done!
Sad, spiritual, poignant, ominous, and yet somehow uplifting. Life is change, never more evident during the biggest one, the final one. Some things are imminent - the question lies in what will rise from the ashes. This story seems to tackle all of that turmoil in its various stages. Not to make one comfortable, but to illustrate all of the inherent darkness and light. Great story.
I knew that this book was going to be emotional from all the comments I read and I kept putting it off. I didn't want that part of Grace's life to be over. It was an awesome book and I am happy that he died for a great reason. Cant wait till I get to read what happens next!
I read a little bit of this one. I didn't like the tragic turn in this series and gave it up. Maybe someday I'll read it, but I already skipped ahead to know what the rest of the story arc is, and I'm not sure the stress is worth it to me. The author puts these characters through hell. I really liked this series when it was more of a charming mystery and less of a dark war fantasy.
I have really enjoyed this series. I didn't realize how attached I had gotten to the characters till I found myself crying at the end of this book. Great characters and very interesting story line. Never a dull moment in Shady Grove!
An absolute gut wrencher... One that just had to be done. My deep appreciation to Ms. Swain; Ma'am, I baled like a toddler through 75% of this book & talent like that... To be able to effect a reader to that extent, That's your magic <3 thank you.
Well this was a depressing read. Grace got Dylan back only for him to die. At least she can grieve properly now. Aydan is growing fast because of his fairy blood and poor Whinny.....she died only for Dylan to die to give her the gift of the phoenix so she could come back to life.

Kimbra has a way with words that makes you feel like you are in the book, experiencing everything with the characters and feeling the same emotions they do. Intense and heart-rending!!! An amazing book from an talented author!
Who is cuttin the darn onions?!?! I read the first 7 of this series in one day! I AM HOOKED!!! Ms. Kimbra, you have done it again. Your characters are so true to the Southern people I proudly call myself one of! I tell my kids that I'm gonna jerk a knot in them on a regular basis. I LOVE your books and can't wait for the rest!!
OMG. So good. I cried so hard, my eyes still hurt hours later. I've never had a book make me cry this hard. This series is a must. I'm recommending to all my friends who read this genre!!!!!
I recently stumbled across Kimbra Swains books, well oh my gosh I can tell you my world will never be the same. This is book 8, yes people book 8 and i am still just as in love with this world that Ms Swain has created. The characters are real, they are funny. I feel like I could walk down the street in this town and know the people. Now you have to read the first 7 to get to this point, cause if you don't your gonna be lost. Well you could, but don't do that because your going to miss a lot of great reading. You have Grace, Dylan,Levi,Winnie,Nestor and. Nestor just to mention a few of the characters. Oh and Chris I think he is kinda intriguing.
I laughed, and I cried, and at some points wanted to throw my kindle across the room. This book had me so emotionally roped in I was a complete basket case by the end. I love all Grace Ann Bryant’s stories. Now very impatiently waiting for the next one.
I have loved every book in this series and although this one was very emotional, it was an amazing read. The world that Kimbra has created is a wonderful place and I hope to be able to continue this journey for a long time to come. Highly recommended!
I really didn’t expect this level of emotion. I’m raw.
We had heard this book was going to be emotional and that there were tears involved in the writing. Being myself, I didn’t take this to heart, because nothing does it for me. I don’t do emotional or tears. I got to say, this was close for me.
The blurb got me excited and nervous for the next chapter in Grace’s life. How was she adjusting to mothering an infant? How was she adjusting to be a Queen? Living in a house? What had happened to Levi? What had happened to Dylan? How was Astor adjusting? Is someone going to get their asses kicked?
We get our answers and, these answers are so worth the emotions you feel while watching Grace struggle to balance her life as a Queen and a mother to an infant. She has been mothering Winnie forever, but two children is an adjustment.
The emotions in this book... I can’t fathom. Kimbra took us on an emotional roller coaster.

I absolutely loved this book. I laughed, I cried and I enjoyed all of it. Ayden had my heart in this book because he reminded me so much of my 1 yr old granddaughter. Losing characters is always hard to do when you are loving the story. Looking forward to the next tale.

Very entertaining. Love the characters. Grace is a strong, sexy, confident and vulnerable woman who happens to be a fairy queen who has a major potty mouth. The author does a great job bringing the characters to life. Definitely read the previous books and you’ll be hooked. My newest favorite series.
This was a very emotional book that broke my heart. You will need tissues. The ending proved the true heroic persona of a character and the strength of another. I really wish that it was handled with a different outcome, but I realize why the author did it. I have enjoyed each book in this series and each one gets better than the last. Yes there are some grammatical errors, but the storyline is perfect.
This book is tough and strong and sad and revealing, and, underneath all that, it is full of a fierce, indomitable joy. I knew from the title we'd see Dylan again, and we do. It is absolutely the story of heroes, and it succeeds. I don't do spoilers, so that's all you're getting.
No! I can't believe that she took Dylan. What is going on with Levi, why didn't he stay? So many questions. I am extremely happy that Grace is pregnant, but holy heck, did it reapply have to happen when Dylan is not there to enjoy it with her? Time to keep reading to see how this all unfolds.
I knew this was coming...the emotions rolling around. Hope, love, fear and the sorrow of goodbye. A whole box of tissues and ugly crying to be left with the admiration for Grace and her family. Kimbra wrote an amazing book that leaves you feeling drained. Yet like the Phoenix you will rise again. Thank God I already have the next book.
I devoured the series through the 10th book in just a week. Impatiently waiting for the next book due out in Feb '19. If you like all sorts of fairies, were wolves, demi_gods... set in modern day, you'll LOVE this series. Snarky comments included for free. She's a trailer park queen and proud of it. You can make her a queen, but her heart will always be in the trailer park. And what a big heart she has, don't let her tell you differently. Descriptive worlds and fleshed out characters. Love stories and battles. What more could you want. A new twist on the Seelie and Unseelie fairies. Once you start this series you're immediately hooked, but BEWARE, this series will rob you of sleep. Your mantra will be, "One more page, just one more chapter". I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. NEXT BOOK, PLEASE!
This one broke my heart. First book in a very long time to make me cry. Up to now I've laughed along with the book and felt the frustration but this book has me bawling. While I can't wait to read the next book, I also don't want to read it...
These books have kept me captivated, I have binged on these stories. They're well written, few typos but I'm not complaining.
Onto the next! Thank you Kimbra Swain for this amazing series! I absolutely love how you have written each book and melded all the stories together.
