Writing is my bliss and I try to write every day. I started with two publishers who I learned a lot from. Now I self publish. I like the control it gives me over release dates and book covers.

I was appalled when I started to read what I assumed was a romance, but which turned out to be a horror story. To have the heroine beaten severely for six weeks and losing her unborn child due to such beatings and kickings was beyond unconscionable. And the "hero" (I shudder to call him that) knew the state of his mother's mind before he left his bride with her. And he really didn't seem to be that upset about it when he returned. I would have expected him to find Taggert and disembowel him for what he did and then, because his mother was so old and could not take the beating she deserved, should have put her over a chair and caned her bottom and then chained her in a room until he could find somewhere that takes the criminally insane. And then he worries that our little heroine hates him - hates him - that is putting it mildly. He is lucky she doesn't stick a knife into him or at the very least hit him over the head with a hammer. I know I would. He says he is sorry. What a pathetic use of two words. Did the "I'm sorry" remove the scars that covered her body from the beatings, did the "I'm sorry" return the unborn child to life. At that point I had had it and stopped reading. I am sure our erstwhile but delusional writer is going to have her forgive him, and that I could not stand. I feel very sorry for Ms. Ball if this is the way she views life. What was done to our heroine was beyond words. But apparently Ms. Ball has no problem with women being treated this way, when an "I'm sorry" cures it all. I am also appalled by the people who read this book and accepted the cruelty and insanity it depicted as acceptable and think Ms. Ball is a great writer. Well, then I am in the minority and will NEVER pick up a book by this author again as it seems she does not have her head on straight.
I love reading a series of stories about people all in the same town! The characters in this set are well-rounded and fleshed out. I enjoy learning a little about each character before they become the leading man or lady in the stories to come. I love this author's creative writing; her skills are very well done in this genre of book, and she takes her time in developing the stories. Thank you for a very good set of goodreads!
This was a great story of three broken women who were torn apart being put back together again. It is interesting that time seems so much simpler 100 years ago but yet in some way they were the same. It takes a while for broken trust to be mended. I highly recommend this book. In it you will come to the understanding that it takes love to heal shattered trust and lots of it. Also it takes much love to heal a wounded and broken spirit.
I enjoyed each of these three stories. It would be hard to choose which book I liked. They all lived up to Kathleen Ball’s writing standards. I would read them all again which is something I don’t usually do. They all Have elements of tragedy, danger, love, remorse and faith in God. It is a pleasure to read a good story that is a clean read. I hope you enjoy reading these as much as I did.
I read these books individually and was pleased to find this bundle. Each story emphasizes the strength of character needed for each couple to not only forge a relationship but also to build a community in the face of war torn animosity and bigotry. I sincerely appreciate the sensitivity of Kathleen Ball in writing such sensitive topics. I find the characters and storylines engrossing.
Good value, fun, exciting stories and characters! Not a dull moment in any of the books. Although the stories are all connected because the men served in the army together & live & work on the same ranch post war, each story is unique & full of action! You'll love this series!
Very good. The books had just the right amount of suspense to really keep your attention, just enough romance to spike your interest, a done in a very Christian way. In fact, God was an important figure in the everyday lives of the characters in each book.
Very tasteful, clean, interesting, Christian fiction. Held my attention until the wee hours of the morning.
K. Ball hit the mark with these books . I found them very enjoyable and great reading. I found the characters real and was surprised at what these mail order brides went through. Like?feel in the south for these woman and the freed slaves was an eye opener. Can not wait to start the next one in the series.
First of all, the story line was good, but the book was full of distracting typos and in need of serious editing. If those thing were addressed this would have been a five star book.
Just because it is labeled as a Christian historical romance doesn't make it automatically any good. I didn't even make it through story #1 before I had to thankfully put it down. Way too melodramatic, violent, and totally implausible. I don't slam too many books but this one was just awful.
Poor editing, lots of errors. I like books that continue with the same characters that continue with the story. 1 & 2 were so similar in the story line about the two brides that it felt like I was reading the same story twice.
3 very good heartwarming stories. I loved them all. The proof reading needs some work but over all very good. Romance and drama keep the reading turning the pages!
I was drawn into each story instantly. Each woman came from a different background, but found loving, caring people willing to help one in need. Amazing how much love can conquer.
The "Brides" was well written and the characters engaging and full of life's lessons. There were some very deep and sad moments with some of the characters that were depressing . The stories were uplifting, full of promise, love, and hope.
I like following the characters through each book. The stories gave me a new perspective on the struggles of women in post Cvil war America. Their strength& determination to survive& thrive in adverseity was inspiring. I always enjoy Ms. Ball's books& would reccomend to friends
The series is in the category, so far so good! Really good!!
The series is so exciting! Each story has it's own set of trials and tribulations involved with the couple at the center of it and the people they meet!!
I seriously loved this series. The continued story of the Spring Water Ranch through each Mail Order brides is wonderful. I highly recommend this series.
Kathleen Ball’s books have a lot of heart, as well as well written and interesting. I have read several of her books and she has never disappointed me.
This review is Glory's Groom, the third book. The first is Tattered Hearts, The second is Shattered Trust. I know you will enjoy it.
My review today is on the Historical Christian Romance, Glory's Groom. This is the third and last story in the Mail Order Brides of Spring Water Box Set. I have really enjoyed this series. The subject of abuse is hard to write about but it's an important subject. People especially women need to know there is life after abuse. You do not have to live in fear. I know I am a survivor myself and Jesus is the answer. This book is well written, heart breaking at times, and full of faith. I know you are going to love it.
Glory Wigg is an orphan, she was raised in an orphanage. She was taught to teach but when the only mother she knew sent her out to build a school she wasn't sure how to deal with it. She was to answer a mail order bride ad and then build the school where ever she ended up Miss Wigg would supply the school. She wrote to the shortest ad and was soon on the road. When she arrives she is a mess; her clothes are dirty and torn, her hair is a rat's nest, and her bag is stolen. She doesn't know how to cook much as she was always reading books and she can't sew. Will he even want her? How can she tell him.
Corporal Kent Sandler was married once before but it was awful. He can't believe he sent for a mail order bride just to get a house. When she arrives she's a mess but he takes her home to his boss' wife. She cleans her up and gets her ready for the wedding. How could a city girl from New York City fit in? While he is trying to figure things out his mother-in-law speeds up to him and drops off a little two year old boy. His son he never knew about. Glory takes him and loves the little boy even though it is obvious something is wrong with the little guy. He couldn't talk, walk or crawl.
A journey of healing and restoration for this little family. God has a plan for them, a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too. Give Him your heart and watch Him move in your life.
