In Tombstone, Arizona Territory, despite a silver strike promising entrepreneurial opportunities, Wyatt Earp returns to law enforcement, posing a new threat to the Cow-boy rustlers running rampant on both sides of the U.S.-Mexican border. The Earp brothers make as many enemies as they do allies in a deeply divided community. Aspiring to be county sheriff, Wyatt bargains wi ...more

I am honored to announce that "Promised Land," the final book in my "Wyatt Earp, An American Odyssey" trilogy was named a 2020 Will Rogers Medallion Award Winner.

If you want to grasp the feeling of the Earp brothers as they venture into Tombstone, think of yourself deciding to pour everything you have into a new on-line business, only to find out that you have stepped on the toes of the mafia. Wyatt and his brothers bank it all on the new boomtown, Tombstone, in Arizona Territory. There Wyatt p

This final book in the author's Wyatt Earp trilogy is terrific. As a western, as historical fiction, this is hard to beat. The author gets behind the myths of Wyatt Earp and presents a real person, not a mythical character.

Earp wants to find success in an endeavor other than being a lawman, but in the Arizona Territory circumstances and his talent (not necessarily in using his guns as the first method of resolving conflict) thwarts that goal. You (the reader) knows where the conflict in this bo

I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC of the moving, enthralling conclusion to Mark Warren's Wyatt Earp trilogy and I couldn't put it down until I had reached the final page, which I finished with a sigh. Warren is a gifted writer, telling a fascinating tale. His prose is lyrical and descriptive without being florid, at times evoking a cadence like the ancient epic poets, and peppered throughout with words that, in their antiqueness, do a brilliant job at realizing the story's time period. Great trilogy on an American legend. Clarifies many of the myths of the man and provides a detailed background of how he became an icon of the American West.

I had this on pre-order since it was first available for pre-order. When it came, I was not disappointed. Note that this is the 3rd in a trilogy and they should be read in order. In this book, the story picks up as Wyatt along with brothers Virgil and Morgan and their wives move to Arizona. As in Warren's previous books the story not only captures the events and actions of the people involved but gives us a glimpse into the people themselves. The stories of the gunfight at the OK Corral and subs ...more

LOVED reading this third book of Mark Warren’s trilogy about Wyatt Earp. The book draws you in from the first page and doesn’t let you go until you’ve finished the Afterwords. I could “see “ the action of this novel as if on a movie screen because the author paints the action with colorful descriptions of sights and sounds of the time and place. It would not surprise me if the trilogy becomes a movie or a mini series! So if you haven't read the other two, get them and start with Adobe Moon! ...more

Warren has a gift for writing. Reading his descriptions of the desert and the conversations of these fascinating characters paint a vivid picture of what life must have been like in Tombstone, Arizona Territory. Wyatt Earp is a fascinating and complex character living during a time when the law in a frontier town could be political, frustratingly inept and unjust. If we had been in Earp's shoes, how might we have handled those Cowboys? Especially when they attempted the assassination of the Earp ...more
