Walter Elias “Walt” Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist. Disney is famous for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. As the co-founder (with his brother Roy O. Disney) of Walt Disney Productions, Disney became one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. The corporation he co-founded, now known as The Walt Disney Company, today has annual revenues of approximately U.S. $35 billion.
Disney is particularly noted for being a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most famous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, a character for which Disney himself was the original voice. He has been awarded four honorary Academy Awards and has won twenty-two competitive Academy Awards out of fifty-nine nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual. He also won seven Emmy Awards. He is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong.
Disney died of lung cancer in Burbank, California, on December 15, 1966. The following year, construction began on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. His brother Roy Disney inaugurated the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971.
The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) (commonly referred to as Disney) is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue. Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929. Walt Disney Productions established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and travel. Taking on its current name in 1986, The Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media. In addition, it has created new divisions of the company in order to market more mature content than it typically associates with its flagship family-oriented brands.
The company is best known for the products of its film studio, the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood. Disney also owns and operates the ABC broadcast television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, and ABC Family; publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions; and owns and licenses 11 theme parks around the world. On January 23, 2006, it was announced that Disney would purchase Pixar in an all-stock transaction worth $7.4 billion. The deal was finalized on May 5. On December 31, 2009, Disney Company acquired the Marvel Entertainment, Inc. for $4.24 billion. The company has been a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since May 6, 1991. An early and well-known cartoon creation of the company, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company.
I read a story from this to my 19 month old baby at bedtime. she loves it and points to it when I take her to bed. its part of her bedtime routine and she loves the story's. They are just long enough for her. A brill book for any parent to read their child :-)
Each page is a separate story, and each one is marked for a day of the year, so in theory if you read the page for that day, it will take you exactly a year to read this book. The stories themselves are short given their page limitation, and feature a wide variety of characters from different Disney movies.

Written to be read to a child as a bedtime story, 365 Bedtime Stories is composed of one-page short stories about Disney characters, each written with the date (starting from January 1st to December 31st).
In an effort to reconnect with my inner child, I decided to read this book throughout the year, which I had since childhood. I remember trying to read this as a child and finding the language a bit too challenging, so adult Mariam decided to do this for my younger version.
I’ve always loved the Disney universe, especially the princesses, so this was a treat. The stories were juvenile and kinda bored me, but then again, they’re written for that ago, and I think the little ones will enjoy them, but they should be read to them.
I love reading these stories to my children. The stories are exactly what you would expect from Disney stories. Some are funny, some are sweet, and some and a little quirky. I have three girls. The two older girls (13 & 9) love to read to their new born baby sister. My baby gets exposed to new words and word patterns. My nine year old gets to read to someone who won't judge her if she doesn't know one of the words. My 13 year old gets to practice reading to an audience and she secretly loves pretending she is a teacher. Not to mention the bonding time my children get.
Books aren't just words on a page. They are so much more.
Update 14/11/2013: I probably should have done this a few months back but I stopped reading this day by day about May. A lot of things were going on and I haven't gone back to it. Maybe I'll try again next year.
I have decided to challenge myself to read this one story at a time this year. While this may not sound terribly hard, for me it is. Really, I would just read all 365 stories and be done with it. So instead I decided to read it as it was intended (plus it's kinda nice to feel like I am reading myself a bedtime story).
January: I am a sucker for anything to do with Winnie the Pooh or Lilo and Stitch, so these stories interest me more than ones, like Bambi, Mickey Mouse or Alice in Wonderland but I read them all anyway. A good collection here, (2 WTP and L&S stories which is great) with stories sometimes before they were famous (as it were). I learned something as well - If a bear with very little brain can deal with getting a shot (Pooh was getting a checkup), then I should be able to as well.
February: They Lied!!! This actually has 366 stories. I deliberately started this on a non leap year in some mad delusion that they wouldn't have included February 29. They have (and honestly it's a Pluto story and I'm not a fan so I did skip it). The Lilo and Stitch one was adroable and Wall-e makes an appearance. I felt like this one had more stories I wasn't interested in. I read them anyway and thank heaven that they are short.
March: I felt like the March stories dragged a bit and it made the month feel really long. Thankfully moving on to the next month now!!!!
I just started listening to this collection a few days ago, and I am already thrilled with it. The narrator does his best to do different voices for the characters. The characters are familiar and engaging. There is one bedtime story for every day of the year. People of all ages can enjoy this audio book as no one is ever really too old for Disney or bedtime stories. Whether people are willing to admit it or not, they are never too old to enjoy a story before bed. How many nights do some people spend reading until their eyelids are so heavy that they force themselves shut to let the reader dream of what they had been reading? Join beloved Disney characters as they have short adventures, each story not lasting longer than perhaps 3-5 minutes each. My personal favorite is Beauty and the Beast as it has always been and will always be. I highly recommend this audio for Disney fans or anyone who is looking for relaxing stories where it is easy to find a good stopping point, if you need to pause it and return to real life for a moment. Happy listening!
There are 365 short stories within this book and each one of them is absolutely perfect for bedtime. I have read these stories to my children nightly as a way to spend some quality time together. This book is perfect. I recommend it to any parent. It's a great way to create and start a bedtime routine.
