There's a reason why I loath 2nd chance stories, but for some unknown reason that requires me to visit a head-shrink, I thought maybe this would be different. Yeah...No!

I skimmed read this to see if it was safe for me and unfortunately it wasn't. Hero had a fuck-buddy relationship with OW who was also his business co-partner in the 10 year absence and she comes into the picture to cause trouble. Heroine had this:

I had sex with Tyler Brusso. I pulled back far enough to watch Leos

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving an honest review. As Ive said before, I always give honest reviews whether people appreciate them or not.

This story begins with Ava having issues listening to what her brother Henry, or Henry, is telling her. Henry is not only her brother, but her good friend. The problem is that Henrys ex-wife just bled him dry in their divorce. He and his two kids live with Ava in the house she inherited from their grandmother. When

This story is a big thumbs down for me.
I'm sad to also say it's the first 1 star read for me this year.
This book is the perfect example of why I really can't stand second-chance romances.

Ava and Leo's history is so messed up and personally I felt like Ava really needed to see someone to get her head examined. She seemed to have so many...what's the word...hang-ups? She seems to only hear things her way without letting anyone explain what is really going on.
For instance...their first break-up.

Shelves: p-2019, contemporary
This contemporary romance is as light and fluffy as the title suggests. It had some interesting moments in the beginning. I particularly enjoyed the heroines relationship with her brother and the early moments of her fractious relationship with the hero. I thought it was so funny that the heroines nickname was Tickle. I thought things got a little too sensual too quickly for the hero and heroine given their history. But there were some definitely laugh-out-loud moments in the book. I didn't ...more

This was an enjoyable second chance at love romance. It had its funny moments, some kinky sexy ones and a large dollop of sad moments. The characters were well written and though I couldn't personally relate to them I did empathize with them.
Ava runs the bakery her brother Hank inherited from their Grandmother and has emotionally closed herself off since her ex Leo left her 10 years ago. Her life revolves around the bakery, Hank and his children. Hank needs money to move on with his post divorce

Ava's busy running her grandmother's bakery, which her brother now owns. He and his kids live with her since his ex-wife left them high and dry with no money. He's ready to move on and buy his own home, so he sells half of the bakery to Leo. Really... Leo????? Leo and Ava had a past, and while part of it was really good, the breakup part was really crappy. She's still mad at him, but at the same time wants to let him back into her life. It's up and down from there, as she learns to trust him ...more

I enjoyed this read by Delilah Peters. Ava is upset when she learns her brother, Henry has sold his half of her beloved bakery. If that wasn't bad enough, he sold his half of the bakery to his best friend Leo. What Henry doesn't know is that years ago Ava and Leo had a relationship that ended when Leo left town. After the break-up Ava closed herself off emotionally, only spending time with her best girlfriend and Henry and his two children. After a nasty divorce, Henry had no choice but to move ...more

Sometimes the second chance at love is the sweetest. Sometimes getting that second chance can be a bit difficult. Leo left and broke Ava's heart so when she finds out her brother sold half of their bakery to Leo she's more than surprised. Leo knows he deserves Ava's rage but still loves her and wants to sweep her off her feet. Ava wants nothing of the sort and will treat like a bug in her kitchen. Leo will do what he has to do to win her over, even if it means telling her the real reason he ...more

Delilah Peters where have you been all by book lovin life? Honest to God I was expecting a pleasant read but instead found myself immersed in a bloody phenomenal book. I immediately related to Tickle, I mean Ava, from the word go and then quickly became Leos biggest fan. For the first time in a long time I cried while reading a book; Leos declaration of love through the closed door separating them brought me to tears. This book is a little piece of cookie heaven on earth and the love needs to be ...more

This darling of a story will sweeten your hearts with Leo and Ava's drama. Ava has been pining away every since Leo left ten years ago. She has spent her life in her grandmother's bakery that was left to her brother Henry. When Henry's wife wipes him out financially, he sells half of the bakery as a way to make ends meet. What he doesn't reveal is to whom he sold that half to. Imagine Ava's surprise when it turns out to be none other than the man who was Ava's one and only! Will this be a happy ...more

Ava is one of the most appealing main characters Ive read in a while. Her nicknames for Leo alone would get this four stars, and the writing and general levity of the story, with the similarly well-written character of Leon and the empathy shown by the author to Avas love for and need for her brothers children, give it the final one. The ending was frankly totally unexpected, the food made me hungry, the romance made me needy, and the story made me happy.

Delilah Peters is a sucker for love. After years of crafting heavy, moody stories, she embraced her inner optimist--and her unabashed affection for tropes--and danced into contemporary romance.

Raised in a small, frigid town in Upstate New York, she now inhabits a small, rural town in the steamy South. There, she lives in the moment with her hero, three wild children, four cats, unfinished
