With a mind open to the possibility of unknown forces, the reader is invited to test the efficacy of magic with the help of Titania's spells. Here are spells and potions to aid and assist in the areas of love, health, wealth, home, family, marriage, business, and anything else ruled by the heart. Some spells involve a little ceremony with a selection of specific ingredients in a particular place at a certain time. Others consist of singing songs or chants, weaving talismans, or making charms, potions, or ointments. Every spell is fully described in recipe form and includes details of the appropriate time and place to perform the spell as well as how long it should take to work. Each introduction describes what the spell is for, where it came from, and in many instances, a case history to prove it works.
Born and educated in Sydney, Australia, Titania Hardie is the highly successful author of a range of distinctive books published in the UK on folklore, magic, and divination, and recently a new series of children's books, The Frangipani Fairies. She has first-class honors degrees in psychology and English and was awarded the prestigious Chatterton scholarship for post-graduate study at Bristol University, where she is currently completing her M.A. on the Romantic poets. The Rose Labyrinth is her first novel. Titania lives in Somerset with her husband and two daughters.
There is a spell in this book that includes using essential oils near pets, don't do this, it could be dangerous. I find this book to be charming because it's a spell book from the 1990s, but overall, I could not recommend this book. Most of the spells are questionable or not worth your time.
A more light hearted insight into magic including spells for massage oils and sweet treats, more suited to your occasional witch rather than true witches, wiccans and other practitioners. This book does make a pleasant gift and does add a little fun to life, which is no bad thing.
