Hello, my name is Eve Langlais and I am an International Bestselling author who loves to write hot romance, usually with werewolves, cyborgs or aliens .
I should warn you, I have a twisted imagination and a sarcastic sense of humor something I like to let loose in my writing. While well known for my shifter stories, I am also extremely partial to aliens, the kind who like to abduct humans and then drive them insane...with pleasure. Or do you like something a little darker, more serious? Then check out my cyborgs whose battle with humanity have captivated readers worldwide.
3rd book ofThe Deviant Series. Post-apocalyptic science fiction romantic suspense. Can be read as a stand-alone but better read as part of the series.
Riella is a strong and independent Deviant female. She has been running from the Emerald Queen and enslavement for the past ten years. When Titan winds up on her doorstep being attacked by tigber, Riella takes a gamble and lets him into her shelter and into her life.
I’m enjoying reading this strange future earth. In this book we visit a bit of the landscape and characters from the second book and meet a pirate while the heroine and hero meet, have an encounter and then go separately in vaguely the same direction. Through no fault of theirs, they spend quite a bit of time thinking about or searching for the other but not actually together. It’s a romance, so that’s guaranteed, but there is also a bit of a twist at the end that I didn’t expect. I can’t say more without spoilers, so will just say that I look forward to the next couple of books in the series.
The artificial intelligence and antics of Alfred is humorous. Easy and fast read.
There were a few flaws, see notes and highlights, but overall it was a nice read. Not typical of Langlais’ humor, I still enjoyed it. Not to mention it’s a quick read (meaning most other people would probably read it in a couple of hours and not the entire day it took me to). I also appreciated the fact that the woman didn’t need the H around to save her. Langlais did a great job showing the insecurities of a man who know the woman he loved was more efficient and mentally stronger then him.
However, the story didn’t get into what deviant gene emerged from Titan. Maybe I missed that. Also, the ending was abrupt. I expected a bit more planning and detail. Maybe a struggle or so.
3.5 stars. Well written dystopian romance. Lots of action and some steamy sex scenes in this strange future world, but this book is all about the back story, which I liked. You need to concentrate to get your head around all the strange goings on though, and all I can say is that the author has a great imagination. It could be read as a stand alone, but better if you start from book one to get the background of 'new' earth. That being said, it's ages since I read the last 2 books, so my memory has faded a bit. Some characters from the previous books appear briefly. Lots of fun to read.
It's been a while since I read the first two books but I still enjoyed this one a lot. It felt very rushed through like she had to fit a whole story into a condensed format and I wish she had been able to take her time and flesh it out more fully. I didn't really ever get a sense of how love grew and developed between Titan and Riella (sp?). I'm a bit frustrated that it was so fast-paced because I really love this series and the world it's set in. The characters are all so interesting that I want to linger in it longer. I guess there's a fine line to walk for authors - too slow and your readers become bored and disinterested but too fast and the reader is left unsatisfied and wondering WTF happened?
Let me just say, Metal Never Looked So Good!!! Titan is a ba***s and the metal he gets just improves him. He doesn’t see that for a while, but it does. This story of Titan and Riella is awesome. Eve leaves a bunch of holes in Toxic Dust about various characters and in the subsequent books she is filling in the blanks. This one is about the famous Titan we don’t see much of in the first book. It’s about that time he disappeared or should we say almost died and was brought back to life.
I simply love, love, love this world she is building. I’m not sure six books is going to be enough for me. She has been known to keep going if her reader response is high enough, so if you love this series, tell her; all her links are listed below. BTW, she loves to hear from fans. Back to the book. We find out what happened while he was away looking for the settlement of Eden, a hope for rehoming the Haven clan. When he is attacked by night beasts, Riella comes to the rescue reluctantly. We discover later on it’s because she is the Green Queen’s daughter and heiress to the Enclave nation. Albeit she is a reluctant heiress, who’s been dead for ten years, give or take. During Titan’s recovery, they are discovered by the Enclave and it’s believed it is because she helped him.
During his recovery they have an encounter that changes their history forever and ties them to one another whether they want to accept it or not. Distance only makes Titan’s new equipment and his mind fight him to return to Riella wherever she is and Riella is determined to find out Titan’s fate. Good for them, they end up in the same place and the romance begins again. After a few more adventures, they find themselves back where they started, but working together to build their family.
The characters in this one are so full of self doubts and disbelieving in everyone it is hard for them to trust. They trust each other’s abilities, but not their hearts. It takes a lot of action on both sides to show the other one they mean to be true and their hearts have been won. The power of action brings these two together in the end. There are some surprises along the way that explain things that happen in the other books and start to set Haven up for success as a clan of their own. I can’t wait to see what she brings us next.
I’m really enjoying this post apocalyptic series, we had heard about him in book 1 the friend who left a note and never came back. Then in book 2 we met him again as he goes to a “free city “ ruled by a self proclaimed king.
While there fighting in gladiator style pits he, had to fight his RAT friend and saw the girl who gave him a medal arm & leg saving his life.
This book was action packed right away from him almost killed by mutant animals, waking up with metal limbs, a sarcastic robot father, a quickly that lead to pregnancy, an evil Queen mother who wants your baby, pirates, finding out how big the world is. It was a fun ride!
I loved learning more about the world what’s still left out there and it just makes the world seem so much bigger than in book 1. I was a little confused by the baby making situation in this book though because things seem to be all over the place with the writing. First we’re told births are declining and the Queen talks about how the eggs they tried to create into babies of her daughters didn’t work none took. But then we’re also told that most men in the cities have been sterilized so their genes aren’t passed on.
Then our female protagonist got pregnant on the first try (and I’m not sure of her age, let’s say she was young when she broke out and faked her death 18? Then if she was in hiding for 10 years that makes her 28. Well young by our standards that’s old for this world where many don’t make it past there 30’s 🤷♀️) Maybe it’s just me but it just felt to inconsistent
Good series, the guy in this book I have to say was my least favourite though he comes across as an ass. It made me miss the confident lucky man in book 2 who was a sweetheart.

The narrator for this series continues to impress me with her ability to capture not only the feelings of the characters, human and not, but also subtle nuances of their personalities. Another awesome job done on this audiobook! These two had wild chemistry, and that bonded them together long before their brains and hearts were engaged. And once that chemistry kept them together, they slowly, if begrudgingly, became firstly friends, and finally, in love. Lots of action, lots of world building, wonderful conclusion, and loved the epilogue <3
This addition to the Deviant Futures series was a fast paced, roller coaster ride of emotion, lies, and action. From the first page, I was completely captivated and invested in seeing the story through. I had a hard time liking Rielle, as I found her abrasive and inconsiderate, but overall I loved the story! Can’t wait for Roark and Casey’s story!!!
The great story of a new earth continues. Titan is a one of a kind that is lost in the new world. When he is viciously attacked and left for dead Reilla makes the choice to save him by using her gift to attach new limbs make of metal.
They are torn apart and brought back together, through some very hard trials they find a love that can’t be tamed or broken.
Another fabulous read by Eve, looking forward to the rest of this series!
Each book in this series reads better, stronger, more romantic. For Riella and Titan, separately life is full of danger and little else. Together they can battle for the right to live, to love, even with the ‘deformities’ that required metal replacement. Twisted Metal Heart is my favourite so far. There’s plenty of humour and explosive loving. I’m definitely a fan of this book and the rest of the series.
I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title within the series set box. (Audible Membership)
In the first two episodes, we meet Titan and know of his acquired metal appendages. This is the story of how he was injured and what occurred after for him to have such drastic surgery. As with all tales about the wasteland dwellers, this shows the adeptness of the human species to conform to new situations and ideas.
I love this world! So unique and full of all types of animals and people. Though the "spiduses" and the "meat soup" made my stomach roll. I did have a chuckle with "wanker.". I will be reading more in this series.
