Eye of the Storm by Alyssa Day

5th book in the Tiger Eye paranormal mystery series. Best read as part of the series for the full background of all the various characters.

Jack and Tess work to solve anther mysterious event in Dead End, Florida.

Humorous cozy mystery. Jack and Tess grow a little closer in an attempted date, but I wouldn’t yet classify it as romance. Hurricane Elvis continues the use of puns that was huge in the prior book.

The printed copy I read had quite a few editing and text e

I named the storm :)
It's a silly thing, but I'm really excited to have a tiny part of this book.

Hurricane Elvis has left the building? lol

I love this book and I have a small part in it as myself and I think this is quite possibly my favorite book ever LOL

it’s fun and I smiled a lot.

It’s got a cozy mystery meets UF vibe and the first book in the series is free right now.

Hilarious! The hurricane name is Elvis which provides fodder for many Elvis jokes. Some groaners and some made me laugh out loud. Tess and Jack's first date has arrived and romance is ramping up including a fantastic kiss just before the action begins. Of course. Lots of action, fun and humour. Now I can hardly wait to read about Christmas in Dead End. ...more

Cute and quick but the mystery was a bit blatant. Still looking forward to the next.

The story opens with the long-anticipated date between main characters Jack and Tess. But of course before they get in the car, an emergency pops up - Tess’s shop, along with other businesses, were robbed and vandalized. With Jack off helping the police, Tess goes with her new vampire neighbor, Carlos, to his club for support. But when she’s there, she sees a dangerous vampire with an item taken from her shop. Once again, Tess may be in danger, but she’s on the case, determined to solve the crim ...more

Stuck On Tess and Jack

This series is the best! If you love puns and quirky-ness galore, come join Tess and Jack and all their adventures in Dead End, FL. I can’t get enough. Hurricane Elvis brought so much laughter and I love Lou the big bad kitty in a normal-sized kitty body.

Well... it was short. Also about what I expected. Tess actually had a date planned but you know, one thing after another...

Was a bit confused - who was the dead vampire, and who did the foot belong to? Also, where does Susan's ex figure into this? Did I miss something?

Hurricane Elvis is headed toward Dead End, Florida, and the townspeople are handling it the way most Floridians would - with lots of bad Elvis puns. It's funny, and I laughed out loud a lot. I found the plot to be significantly underdeveloped, even when compared to the other books of the series, making this one my least favorite of the series so far. So much of the actions of the characters and how significant plot points are resolved didn't work for me. It's still fun in a sort of cozy urban fa ...more

Good and humorous mystery.

Tess finds her pawn shop robbed, and Hurricane Elvis is on the way. Jack and Tess deal with vampires and a mayoral election. We get to learn mire about sine of the other characters. The plot is good. Most people probably like the Elvis references, but I got bored by it, after awhile. Her Aunt Ruby runs for mayor. I like her funny campaign slogans.

Eye of the Storm is filled with Elvis puns, vampires, vandalism and Aunt Ruby running for mayor in Dead End. Poor Tess and Jack can't get a break as their first date is stopped before they can even leave Tess' house. A fun mystery and I'm waiting patiently for my library to get the next one in the series. ...more

Loving the series

Poor Tess.
One mischief and mayhem after another.
Small, sleepy towns are not sleepy, especially when inhabited by the supernatural.
This series has mystery, intrigue, a little romance, lots of humor and town loaded with interesting folk.

Hurricane season is off to a bang, when the local stories and businesses start getting broken into. And Tess's aunt decides to run for mayor.

Why I started this book: Perfect for a day off...

Why I finished it: Tess and Jack are slower than a dead turtle, but its fun to see the zaniness that lives and breathes in Dead End.

Just as Tess and Jack head out on their first official date, her pawn shop is broken into. That’s just the start of a horrible night. Vampires, silver crosses and mayoral campaigns, plus Hurricane Elvis is headed their way. As expected there are lots of Elvis puns, but they’re actually pretty good.

I know that Tigers eat a lot, but I think we’ve (the readers) figured that out and all the food references and BBQs every night can ease off allowing for more action. Both of the story line and Tess a

Over way too quickly

I do love this series. I find the characters to be quirky and very relatable, and the storylines fast paced and fun - but it was so short! (plus I’m not enamoured at having to pay AU$7.38 for a 138 pages ebook 🤨).

I kept thinking that if the story had been fleshed out, with more emphasis on Ivan’s machinations, Carlos and Susan’s mysterious past, plus the scheming of Ratbottom (very aptly named), the mayoral race tensions, plus delving deeper into the rash of mysterious break
