Jam-packed with colorful photos of adorable kittens and sweet babies, this rhyming board book celebrates all of the ways kids and cats are alike. A companion to The Babies and Doggies Book.
When you stop and think about it, babies and kitties do many of the same things: They nap, climb, and hide. They play and cuddle. Lots of things babies do kitties do too! With its brief rhyming text and full-color photographs, The Babies and Kitties Book is engaging for infants, a fun read-aloud for parents, and a treat for baby- and kitty-lovers alike. A companion to The Babies and Doggies Book.
Real photographs of babies and kittens doing simple, everyday things with brief, straight forward text discussing things they have in common (bright eyes, hiding and peeking out, crying, chasing bubbles, etc.) A nice group read aloud for baby or toddler story time and great to read one-on-one with really young kids.
Read by Librarian Laura on the London Public Library's on-line "Books for Babies" program. Beautiful, adorable photographs comparing the cuteness of the two.
It may be because I love kitties the best (and it probably is); this book is my favorite in the series. The photos are so excellent and complete the text.
One of the baby's current favorites - and I know he has favorites now because he'll dig through the pile and hand me either this or Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You? and then sit and listen avidly. It's one of his current favorite genres as well: books with photographs of baby faces and/or cats.
There's no plot, obviously, this is just a rhyming chant of things that babies and kitties both do, with pictures of babies and kitties doing them. I think the cover photo might be photoshopped, but none of the interior photos are. More importantly, they're just photos, not AI art. I didn't think AI art would be something I needed to think about at this stage, but it has come for the board book industry, folks, and I got a number of utterly bizarrely "illustrated" books for Christmas.
On a serious note though, in comparison with other children’s books that contains lots of beautiful illustrations, this one is just stock-like pictures and words, kinda feels like kid’s version of a PowerPoint. Not bad, but not special either.
So stinkin' cute. The photos of the babies and the kitties are adorable. And by the end I convinced: yes, lots of things that babies do, kitties do, too.
