A companion volume to Our Presidents, First Ladies of the White House tells of the remarkable women who have accompanied their husbands to the White House to make distinctive contributions to American life.
Bare bones descriptions of the first ladies. OK for what it is. But I have read some other books on the first ladies and felt like this one left out some pretty important facts. But for those who know very little on this subject, I guess this is a good place to start.
This book gives you a summary of the First Ladies life before, during and after their husbands term in office. In the 1700's and early 18oo's it's amazing how many First Ladies educated their husbands to become the President of the United States. However, I was a little disappointed that Laura Bush and Michelle Obama was not in the book.
Great Junior book, but I enjoyed it very much. Chris
This was by far my favorite book on the First Ladies that I have read so far. It enable me to pick out some more favorites and gave me a clearer picture of them.
I thought it very interesting that Mamie Doud held her morning meetings while she was still in her bed and stopped everything to watch her soap opera.
