Leddy Harper is a relatively new author to me but what I have read, I have found to be well written with characters that are easy to relate too and fun.
This is a Cinderella story with a difference. Ryan is a single father, a commoner who after a chance meeting falls for Princess Moria who is soon to become the Queen of Ilunabarra. However Ryan has no idea who she really is and when she stands him up is disappointed.

Royalty meets a commoner is right up my alley and Leddy Harper did not disappoint. As I read Moira (I love her name) and Ryan's story I couldn't contain my giddiness because I always want the underdog to win.

One of my favorite tropes is Royalty Fiction and that's what drew me to Leddy Harper's new book "Throne Away". Normally the royal type stories that we read are the guy is the Prince or King and the female is the commoner that they fall in love. I will read anything that Leddy Harper writes without even reading the blurb. If she writes it. I will read it. I was so excited to read Throne Away because of the whole royal family aspect of this one. Throne Away is a fun, sweet read that is about a Princess and a commoner who meet by chance on a pier. They were nothing more than strangers but felt a connection right away. They had just one day together before the Princess had to go back home. But their thoughts of 4.5 stars

They were nothing more than strangers but felt a connection right away. They had just one day together before the Princess had to go back home. But their thoughts of each other were never too far away. This is a story that gives you the fairy tale feel, and I loved it!!!

Moira and Ryan meet by chance. She is a Princess who is to become Queen of the island of Ilunbarra in a few months. Ryan has no idea who she is or where she is from when he first meets her. And it isn’t until he takes his daughter on a trip to Moira’s country that he finds out her true identity. They are both surprised to see each other, and he is shocked to find out that she is a princess. But at the same time, they are both happy to see each other, even if spending time together will prove to be difficult. They must sneak around and hide their “friendship” from her royal family as well as the rest of the Island. They both know that when Ryan leaves I a week that their relationship will end. But that doesn’t stop them from spending time together. In spending time together, they come to find out that maybe fate has brought them together. Maybe them meeting on that pie was destiny’s way of saying they belong together. Unfortunately, though they both have responsibilities and there doesn’t seem to be any way that they can be together. Or can they?

I adored this story and the characters. Ryan and Moira are just so cute together and from the moment they met you felt that connection. While they only knew each for a short time, their relationship and love didn’t feel rushed. It honestly felt like it was just the opposite. Their story is one of true fate and destiny and that is one of the things that I loved the most. It was the little things that they discovered and the way the kept meeting.

I loved the relationship between Moira and her cousin, how loyal she wa and how much she wanted Moira to be happy. But it was also Ryan’s daughter Amara that made this story even more special. It was how much he cared for his daughter and how she was his first priority. But it was also how much Moira cared for her as well and what she had done for her. Leddy Harper did a great job with this story. It is a wonderful story about fate and destiny with a fairy tale feel to it.

Moira feels the weirdest sense of déjà vu when she first meets Ryan. And when they find that actually have a connection from their past, it feels right. All except for the tiny little detail she's been keeping from him, a detail that can prevent their entire relationship from being.

This is a fun entertaining Cinderella with a twist read, in this story Moria is the princess who is about to takeover as Queen of Ilunabarra and Ryan is the commoner who also happens to be a single dad.

I've been waiting for this ever since I signed up. The blurb did me in, plus it was from Leddy Harper—one of my go-to author.

This is a reverse cinderella story with a twist. Ryan was the commoner and Moira was the crown princess poised to takeover as Queen of the small island nation of Ilunabarra.

Royal romances are a guilty pleasure of mine, and I absolutely adored that Moria was the one that was the queen-to-be and her love interest, single dad Ryan, was the commoner. Such an excellent role reversal!

This book is an unusual take on a royal romance, the royal wasn’t a prince, but a princess unwilling to take the crown. The commoner, she falls in love with, is a single dad, whose wife left him and who lives thousands of miles from her country.

These two unlikely lovers meet without knowing anything about each other and fall in love.

It was beautiful to read how Moira and Ryan met, fell in love and overcame the obstacles on their way to their Happily Ever After.

Leddy Harper’s Throne Away is the first book of hers I’ve read. I was drawn to it because it has been some time since I’ve read a royalty romance. Even more, the blurb promised a different take on it. It includes a single dad trope, and it sounded like a challenge to embrace.

Thone Away has some great qualities. Harper invests us in her characters with their trials. Ryan is a single father; his wife is manipulative and, quite frankly, a con-artist. He sacrifices his comfort Overall Grade: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Leddy Harper’s Throne Away is the first book of hers I’ve read. I was drawn to it because it has been some time since I’ve read a royalty romance. Even more, the blurb promised a different take on it. It includes a single dad trope, and it sounded like a challenge to embrace.

Thone Away has some great qualities. Harper invests us in her characters with their trials. Ryan is a single father; his wife is manipulative and, quite frankly, a con-artist. He sacrifices his comforts for his daughter, showcasing a portion of his heroic nature. However, there is something almost effeminate in Ryan’s characterization. I’m used to reading romance heroes who take charge and know themselves. Harper hasn’t crafted Ryan in that manner. He is most dominant in the bedroom, but those moments are few in this story. What happens as a reader is you feel as though you want Ryan to act more stalwart. He makes a decision about his wife that seems confusing and anemic. He simply accepts their situation instead of deciding better for himself and his daughter. Even in his dealings with Moira, he reads as confused, a bit dorky, and too accepting of a situation instead of acting heroically to protect and claim Moira. Thankfully, Harper utilizes the character of Libby (Elizabeth), Moira’s cousin, to remedy the disconnect between Ryan and Moira. That being said, Ryan finds himself eventually, and Moira and Ryan’s journey at the end of the book is the best part of the story.

Now, Moira’s characterization is also problematic. Like Ryan, she is too accepting of her situation. She doesn’t want to be queen. She makes that clear from the start of the story, and there are plenty of people who decline to take the throne. Yet, Moira doesn’t decline out of some obligation to her parents. However, her relationship with her parents doesn’t speak to readily accepting her position. She vacillates between choosing her own future and choosing the one set before her. It takes most of the story for her to reach her decision, but it is only due to her cousin (again) that the story finds its appropriate resolution. I questioned Moira’s ready acceptance because it seemed counter to her characterization.

What I believe Harper does well with this story is show Moira and Ryan’s eventual evolution. Both of them appear to easily accept their circumstances without pushing back for the first two-thirds of the story. When they finally realize the power of their coupling, Harper allows them to make decisions for themselves. Until that moment, however, their journey is puzzling.

Even more, Elizabeth “Libby” is probably the best character in this story, and she needs her own book. This is someone who doesn’t wait for life to happen to her. Instead, she knows her value and the value of the people who surround her, and she asserts herself to bring about the happy endings of this story. I would have loved for Moira to have this same joie de vivre. It would have made her more heroic, I think.

Has Leddy Harper written a spin on the royal romance in Throne Away? Yes. For one, the royal is the heroine, and the hero is your “Average Joe.” Is there a moment when it’s possible these two won’t end up together? Yes. It is only through the machinations of Moira’s cousin that Ryan and Moira can find their happy ending. And that ending is quite sweet. The most heroic character in this story isn’t Ryan and Moira, and I’m hoping Harper grants her the book she deserves because Throne Away gave us a little glimpse of her power and potential for her own happy ending.

How random are random meetings? Do we randomly meet people in our lives, or is the meeting orchestrated by some higher power? Throne Away is not like any other royal romance I've ever read, and all of the coincidences -- or not -- between Ryan and Moira and the times their lives have crossed paths are fascinating.

Unfortunately, this book fell a little flat for me and I never really got lost in the story. I really enjoyed this book. I liked that this story was the reverse of the typical royal romance.

This is a story of a princess that falls in love with a commoner. I especially loved that their story seemed to have begun well before when they met “for the first time”.

What I loved most about this book is the way it’s so different from all of Harper’s other books. I was drawn in immediately from the first page. As I read, I needed to know how Moira and Ryan’s story would end up, turning the pages quickly to get to the end but at the same time, trying to savor it as I read.

How many times do you see someone and think you've met before? Have an instant attraction, and comfort level that normally requires years.
Moria starts her journey far younger than what you are introduced. She's lost her brother and just wants to feel connected to something.
Ryan is a photographer. His favorite sets are of natural beauty, sunrise, sunsets, oceans, anything that nature gives.

Loved this twist on a Cinderella story. Throne Away by Leddy Harper was flirty, romantic, definitely swoony and so fun to read!

I enjoyed Moira & Ryan's story. I just loved how intertwined Moira & Ryan's lives were without even knowing it. I loved going on their journey & seeing that no matter what obstacles were in their way, they found their way back to each other.
