Okaaay! I admired the creepy, blood freezing, dark, intense, claustrophobic premise of the book! And the psychological analysis of those true kind of batshit crazy, broken, traumatized family members’ dynamics was amazing!

But the early revelation of the big twist killed my excitement and after that revelation everything turns into repetitive cycle which overshadowed the other semi bigger twist which is so obvious from the beginning and the conclusion of the story was semi satisfying with plot h

I found The Family Plot by Megan Collins on NetGalley recently. After noting that several friends and bloggers I know had picked the book up, I decided to give it a chance. Part thriller/suspense, part touch of horror, it rounded out my other reads for February and offered me a new author to get to know. I'm glad I downloaded it and would recommend the book to others. It has a wonderful sense of macabre and dangerous overtones but stops short of really going far into anything horrific.

I stayed up super late to finish this one! Megan Collins at her best! This book was creepy and twisty and it kept me in suspense the entire time!
Delilah was raised by true crime obsessed parents, in a secluded mansion deep in the woods.
She has a hard time making friends and she’s continually searching for her twin brother, Andy who disappeared when they were 16.
She returns to the house of horrors when her father passes away, only to discover her brother is buried in the family plot, his skull

Insanity at its finest!! The Blackburn Killer has struck! Is this a serial killer? Is this a madman? This quaint island has been placed in a shroud of intrigue and culpability as someone knows what happened but isn't telling a soul.
The world is a dark, mysterious, sometimes disturbing and cruel place that warrants our attention, our ideas, and our talents.
Imagine if you will an isolated rural mansion that has no boundaries, a home with hidden secrets, trap doors, and floating images that creep i

I really wanted to love this one. For the first 70%, I’d say it was 5 stars. But then the Blackbeard serial killer is revealed and it was very anticlimactic. The Lighthouse family is fully of irritating characters. Andy goes missing 10 years prior to the start of the book, and his twin Dahlia is obsessed with finding him. Charlie and Tate are the two older siblings and they just add nothing for me. I didn’t like Charlie from page one, and as the novel progressed, I really didn’t like him. I don’ ...more

I would like to thank edelweiss and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review. I read the author’s book before this and enjoyed it so I thought I would try this one, and let me say, I was glad I did. With a beautiful remote setting, flawed characters and a story with familial ties that bind forever, this is a book you won’t want to put down. Can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.

THE FAMILY PLOT has one of the most original, twisted, genius storylines I've ever read. Megan Collins has created an astonishing, creepy suspense about escaping the bonds and betrayals of family. It's brilliant and bone-chilling, and you won't be able to look away for a second. ...more

I loved the WINTER SISTER so I requested the Family Plot as soon as I saw it was another Megan Collins book.
I can't truthfully say I wish I hadn't, because this book is so different from the last, but it left me feeling so creeped out - and not in a fun, good way - that I'm having trouble writing an accurate critique.

I think the major issues I had with the story were these 2: 1. there isn't one redeeming character in the book for me. Typically in a dysfunctional family, at least 1 person can be

The Family Plot is the perfect read for murderinos and fans of true crime docs/podcasts/etc. The novel centers around the Lighthouse family, who take dysfunctional to a whole other level. Raised on a secluded island and taught about every major murder case by their true crime-obsessed parents, Dahlia, Charlie, and Tate (all named after murder victims) have finally returned home for the first time since th

Megan Collins has redeemed herself with me! I was not a fan of Behind the Red Door at all. But Collins has made a strong comeback with this book! True crime lovers will appreciate this story of a family that spent their lives studying and honoring the victims of crimes, all while residing on an island that has had a string of murders. This string of murders being the work of an alleged serial killer.

Unlike the previous book, the female main character, Dahlia (named after the Black Dahlia) is st

Wow, this was a tense read! A dysfunctional family on an island in a dark, rambling house who are obsessed with serial killers and their victims. They honor these victims with strange rituals.
The family is isolated and the islanders view them with horrid fascination. When the kids return to bury their father, tensions explode. Then they find a body buried on their property ...
It was difficult for me to like any of the characters, they were so utterly strange, but the story is compelling and I co

Move over Knives Out and the Thrombey Family; there is another eccentric, macabre, and dysfunctional family in town! The crime-obsessed Lighthouse family has a stylish and captivating star-quality cast of characters, and I desperately want to see this made into a movie! There is so much to love in The Family Plot by Megan Collins: menacing atmosphere, perpetual suspense, insanity, flair, tenderness, and honesty. Above all, The Family Plot is totally fresh and original. You do not want to miss th ...more

Thank you to Netgalley and Megan Collins for my ARC of The Family Plot. Talk about dysfunctional family, my goodness, the Lighthouse family in this story are the epitome of dysfunction. I was on the edge of my seat from the start of this crazy book. I had my suspicions throughout, but there were a few big twists that I never saw coming. Well written, completely engaging, and disturbingly dysfunctional, as well as suspenseful, The Family Plot is a book with all the qualities I love in a good thri ...more

I would like to thank Edelweiss and the publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. I was not disappointed! Each character is so thoughtfully created; having very distinct personalities, quirks, and flaws. I truly haven’t read a book lately where a tragedy ends up being just that- a tragedy. There is no silver lining for these characters except for the pact they make and the bonds they will try to build moving forward.

Really good, compulsive, fast read. I was hooked from the first chapter.

The Lighthouse family is odd. Obsessed with murder. Always have been. When the patriarch dies, the children come back to gather as a family. Charlie and Tate orbit around each other, and Dahlia pines for her brother who ran away after their 16th birthday without a single word.
But family secrets are hard to keep buried.

It's dark and it's twisty and there's an old mansion involved, which, like, yes, let's. But it's also surprisingly nuanced and occasionally touching. Don't be put off by the plot summary, there is more going on here than it would have you believe. ...more

By design, the killer* can only be one of a limited group, unless the book introduces Joe NewCharacter in the denouement (which I trusted it not to do). However, even knowing that, it wasn't easy to solve the mystery, which I always appreciate.
