What can I say...? I loved this book. Initially the title put me off thinking it would be one of the same/different names, but I was wrong. The rave reviews drew me in and (for the most part) spot on with my reading experience as well.

It started out interestingly enough. There were small instances and behaviors that didn’t seem to align with what we regency readers have grown to accept about the time period. However, I found myself rooting for this couple more and more with each chapter. It was

This was an entertaining read with two engaging characters. The story is told from two points of view. The one being Mrs. Ambrosia Bloomington (Aubrey) who was bravely setting out to begin a new life in London. She was a beautiful, young widow who had suffered an appalling marriage to a much older man. The other part of the story is told by Mr. Charles Bateman (Chance). They meet at an inn and they have an instant attraction. They have quite an adventure together but Aubrey feels that Chance is

What a great story , so sweet, yet especially tragic for this beautiful young couple.

You feel every emotion that Annabelle writes with these two, from passion to devastation, the two are really put through the ringer.

Their love never feels certain, always another hurdle to cross. Will they ever manage to live together as they wish or does fate intend for them to be always just missing each other.

Wonderful reading , but that’s never a surprise with a writer like Annabelle Anders, she’

I’m not a huge fan of historical romance, but as I’m determined in my mission to read all of the CHC books, I decided to give it a go. I have to admit that the author did a really great job of retelling Chance and Aubrey’s story I’m a regency setting and I found myself enjoying it way more than I had expected. I loved the different take on these characters and it was actually a really refreshing addition to the series.

Despite how popular they are, I’ve never read a Penelope Ward or Vi Keeland book. Therefore, the Cocky Hero Club did not scream out to me in the way it has screamed out to other people. Nevertheless, I was curious enough to give the books a try.

Although I have not read the book Cocky Duke is based upon, I am a big Annabelle Anders fan. Thus, I was more than happy to dive into this one. As is always with case with books by the author, I was hooked on this one. In fact, once I started, I had to d

Here’s what you can expect:

🎩 A very Cocky Gentleman who may or may not be a Duke.

🎩 Did I mention a very Cocky Gentleman?

Tres' Magnifique! Amazing, Perfect, No, more than Perfect. Romantic beyond words. Going into this story I was thinking light hearted, funny, romantic. So I was not prepared for the deep emotions that wrapped around my heart. Oh yes there is the wonderful humor that Annabelle Anders always creates and of course precious Lancelot that will win your heart. (although it was Guinevere that started it all, kind of..)
Then add in the audible with Desiree' Ketchum, who set the perfect tone and inflection

I enjoyed this 1820’s England rework of the contemporary Cocky Bastard book. It was “amoosing”. Charles “Chance” Cochran Bateman, the cocky french duke, has his horse stolen prompting him to catch a ride with the widowed Mrs. Ambrosia Bloomington. The first half of the book is their adventure on the road to London and is from Ambrosia’s perspective while the second half is the fallout and resolution from Chance’s perspective. The book is full of their slow burning chemistry/banter, drama of poss ...more

Similar to Penny Reid's Smartypants Romance series where the books are set in her worlds but written by other authors are the Cocky Hero Club in which the books are set in the world of the Cocky Series by Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland. As readers of Cocky Bastard would know Chance is well - cocky. In Cocky Duke, we have Chance set in a regency romance world. I have to admit, I don't normally read historical regency romance as I am not keen on that era. In Cocky Duke, we first meet Aubrey aka Ambr ...more

Starring Ambrosia “Aubrey” Bloomington and Cochran Charles “Chance” Bateman.

It was a total blessing to be given a copy of this beautiful story in advance. This was my first Ugly Cry AF of 2020. So much feels, y’all!! I loved every second I spent with Chance and Aubrey... and their road to HEA was delightful, heartbreaking, joyous, and most of all amooosing!!

I love stories where strangers are forced to band together.... where they learn a little about each other and themselves along the way. Aub

Why haven't I read Annabelle Anders before? She's been on my TBR list. I will definitely be reading some of her other books after greedily consuming this one!

I LOVED this! Historical romances are my weakness and this clicked all the boxes for me. I loved Aubrey and Chance in here. They grabbed me from the start and held on all the way through :)

Annabelle Anders has the knack of pulling the back of your head into her story within the first two pages. Astounding!!

This story will not only pull on your heartstrings but will squeeze it until you're sitting on the edge of your seat chewing on your thumb nail. I love her work!!

Aubrey was married to a man who clearly did not know how to treat women, or anybody for that matter. He has passed and she has spent the last year in the company of the brother and his wife awaiting her freedom and tha

I was thrilled to be able to get a early copy of this book, as I had read Cocky Bastard, Penelope Ward & Vi Keeland and this was a mirror of the book in different centuries. Cocky Bastard was from the 21st Century & Annabelle Anders' Cocky Duke, takes place in 1823 Regency England.

The first half of the book is given in Ambrosia Bloomington's (Aubrey) point of view. She is kind, non-confrontational & a lovely young widow on her way to begin in new life in London. She has inherited a townhouse in

Cocky Duke by Annabelle Anders is part of the Cocky Hero Club Series. This is a standalone book. This is the story of Charles 'Chance' Cochran Bateman and Ambrosia 'Aubrey' Bloomington.
Ambrosia is done with her year of mourning for the lost of her husband. Ambrosia plans are to start a new chapter of her life in London. But while on the carriage ride toward London she ends up meeting Charles who has been left stranded and he gets a ride with Ambrosia. This leads them into adventures along the w

4.5 Stars for me because I like reading books that write with his-her-point-of-view. And I enjoy reading Part 1 of the book because even it is just Aubrey's point of view, the author described more of Chance's behavior so I can understand what is about to happen. Part 2 is Chance's point of view but I don't know what Aubrey's thinking so I am a little bit annoyed and it makes me think that Aubrey is a cheater which I am not impressed at all. Anyway, the story is interesting. Their chemistry is o ...more

This is the first book that I've read by this author and I didn't know what to expect. This book is an historical romance that is set in 1823 and I have never read an historical romance before and I really enjoyed it.

Cocky Duke will hold you spellbound from the moment you begin the journey with Chance and Aubreyy until the very end! I had previously read Cocky Bastard and was interested to see how it could be transformed into a historical setting. Annabelle Anders did a great job of keeping the heart of the story while changing the setting, customs, and manners of an earlier period.
Aubrey and Chance continue to have a great teasing relationship. There are some situations in the modern version that are easier to control/ explain than in a historical setting and I was wondering how Annabelle Anders would handle the main plot

This is my first read of the Cocky Hero Club. I’ve gotta say I surprised myself by liking this as I don’t usually like books set way in the past. As this is set in the early 1800s I’d definitely have skipped it. However I’m glad I read it.

Aubrie is a widow on her way to London for a new start. While travelling she meets Chance and their story is more than they wished for.

I love how the story was told- two parts with two points of view. Great story that pulled on my heartstrings.

“Cocky Duke” is Annabelle Anders Regency era retelling of the contemporary story “Cocky Bastard”, written by Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland. There is a whole Cocky Hero world out there that I was not aware of. Consider me informed and my interest piqued.

Mrs. Ambrosia “Aubrey” Bloomington is a widow, who married a controlling man, decades older than herself at a very young age. She did this to ensure that her mother would be taken care of. Serious and at times unsure of herself as a result of her

Mrs. Ambrosia Bloomington is now a widow & at last she can leave the oppressive household of her late husband’s relatives & start a new life amongst Mayfair elites. She does not, however, bargain for cocksure Frenchman, Mr. Charles Cochran Bateman coming along and turning her very ordinary journey into the adventure of a lifetime.
Another well written, engaging, engrossing read. Strong characters with plenty of depth but then the author doesn’t do two dimensional. I loved both Aubrey &

This is a retelling of Cocky Bastard which I should mention is a book I’ve never read! I tend to really enjoy Annabelle Anders books though, so that’s why I read this one.

This started out a little slow for me in the beginning aka the first couple of pages. We meet Aubrey and she’s staring out the window rather salaciously at Chance as he’s taking care of his horse. I was prepared for her to be very forward and on the fast side and I was prepared not to like it. After a few more pages I was quick

Aubrey married young and not for love so now that her husband has passed away she is looking forward to experiencing freedom and finally being able to live the life she wants and not the one that was chosen for her. She is ready for a new beginning and is heading to London when a chance encounter with a man needing assistance leads to an experience of a lifetime.

Chance is on his way to the 30th birthday party he doesn’t want to attend when he experiences trouble and Aubrey comes to his rescue. A

Told from dual POV, this was the story of Ambrosia and Charles.
Ambrosia (also known as Aubrey) was a widow who had been through more than most during the time that she had been married. But now as she is starting over the last thing she is looking or is a new relationship… but life doesn’t always play fair and when she met Charles in the local pub, it was the start of what had the potential to be something more.
I had a feeling (so did Aubrey) that there was more to Chance than he was saying but

Very engaging story of Mrs. Ambrosia Bloomington, a widow planning on starting her new independent life, and Charles Cochran Bateman, a man travelling to his new life, too. The chemistry between these two is instant, and a most enjoyable read. Chance is a very endearing character with his positive attitude on life, his sense of humour and his endeavours to stay honourable with Aubrey. She is also a character you feel you want to get to know and be friends with right away. Once again Ms Anders ha ...more

The Cocky Duke is a beautiful book by Annabelle Anders. I was on the edge of my seat as I read Mr. Bateman and Aubrey Bloomington’s story. I couldn’t put the book down as I encountered unexpected twists and turns. “Laughter still danced in his eyes. ‘Come now, Mrs. Bloomington, admit that you’ve wanted me to kiss you since you watched me from your window.” Cocky, indeed! Humor, heartbreak, and steamy scenes combined to make a masterful romance. I thoroughly enjoyed it! I was given a copy of this ...more
