Rate this book
HE GAVE HER HIS HEART—AND SHE SHATTERED IT.

Bravo Team operative Matthew Turner used to believe in happily ever after, but that was years ago, before the only woman he’s ever loved betrayed him and shredded his heart. Since then, he’s worked hard and played even harder, determined he’ll never be vulnerable again.

NOT EVERYTHING IS AS IT SEEMS.

Katherine Marsh has only ever loved one man, but she was forced to cut Matt loose a decade ago to protect him. Since then, she’s focused on her research as a biomedical engineer…and tried not to regret losing the man who still haunts her dreams. Even from afar, she’s tried to continue protecting him by creating a military-commissioned formula that will save thousands of American operatives’ lives. But someone’s out there, determined to use Kat and her work as a weapon against the United States.

HE’LL FIGHT TO THE DEATH TO SAVE HER.

When Katherine unknowingly hires Matt’s private security team to protect her from recent threats, they’re forced to confront their tumultuous past. Just when their passion is rekindled and it seems they could find happiness together, the evil hunting Kat strikes.

With help from his Bravo teammates and Ghost’s Delta Team, Matt finds himself on the most important mission of his life: to save the only woman he’s ever loved. Will he reach her before this nemesis destroys Matt and Katherine’s second chance at love forever?

If I could leave more than 5 stars I would. This story grabbed me from page one to the very last page. It was so good to visit with old friends from Susan Stoker s world and to be back again with the R.I.S.C. Family. I loved the second chance romance of Mathew and Kat. I highly recommend it for your reading pleasure.

Heart pounding

So, this had me on pins and needles constantly! Not just from all of the action, but from the angst of Kat and Matt’s relationship. So good! HEA. Lots of moving pieces, told so well, I felt like I could so easily see it in real life.

Good storyline.
Matt is an idiot & an asshole. Always ASSUMING instead of ASKING. No matter how much Katherine cares for him she should never have gotten back together with him since he rather believes in lies than the truth until much time has passed before he is willing to listen to the truth. Also the fact that he didn't fight for her when he was supposedly in love with her. People who don't fight for the person they love, is not real love. Simple as that. If they tried but failed then it's ok as they TRIED. Matt didn't, he just accepted the lie and became bitter.

Wowee! I was enthralled from the start & can honestly say I couldn’t put this book down. A brilliant story from Anna Blakely that runs the whole gamut of emotions for both her characters and me!
RISC Bravo Team 2 operative Matt has never understood nor forgiven Kat for ripping out his heart 10 years ago but soon realises that despite both working and playing very hard he has never actually gotten over her either when he meets her again. Bioengineer Kat seeks the help of RISC when her life is threatened not knowing Matt is part of their team. Kat had her reasons for driving Matt away but for her there never was and never will be anyone else for her but him. Forced to spend time together by RISC boss Jake, emotionally charged Matt and Kat try to work through the hurt, anger and secrets of the past but will the truth ultimately reunite them or drive them further apart? I did think Matt and I were going to have issues about some of his behaviour but his hurt ran deep so he did get a pass in the end.
To follow the intense and often raw emotions of the first half of the story comes the action and drama (and continued emotion tugging) of the second half as evil stalks Kat desperate for her knowledge and serum. With her life on the line can Matt save her in time to give them a chance at the HEA they so richly deserve?
I loved this story, it was emotional, gripping and action packed with wonderful characters. Both Matt and Kat are strong people shaped by their past, definitely not perfect but real. It was great to visit with old RISC friends - who knew Jake was a closet matchmaking romantic - and learn more about RISC operatives who are yet to have their HEA. Well done Anna Blakely, you have written yet another stunning story in the wonderful RISC world and I would highly recommend this book to all.

Wow! As far as romantic suspense goes, this was just as good as the first book in this series! It really kept me on my toes! Super soldier serums, scientists with eidetic memories, murder, treason, and non-stop action...I was biting my nails and kept waiting for the next shoe to drop!

As for the romance, I love second chances; especially when outside forces are what kept them apart and not some stupid miscommunication or misunderstanding that could easily be solved from a simple conversation. Kat was actually trying to protect Matt--rightfully so--and my heart broke for her. Now, Matt and Kat were basically kids when they were last together...17 and 18 years old. Parental interferences can be tricky, but I do think that Matt should have been a bit more understanding once he found out the truth years later. I get that his heart was broken, but again, they were practically kids, and Kat's father was a jack@$$ of the highest degree.🙄

****Tiny Spoiler Ahead****

Also, her not being physically or sexually involved with someone because her heart belonged to Matt was a bit of a stretch, and quite frankly unfair and unbelievable. As a woman, I know we're built differently emotionally, but to have this woman deprive herself of physical contact for ten years while Matt "sexed" away his pain with so many women was an insult. Normally, I'm always willing to suspend reality for a good story, but I had to deduct a star rating for that.

****End of Spoiler****

As for the story as whole, I loved it...the suspense, the action, and the romance. Again, these men and women are like family and will do whatever it takes to protect each other. Kat is a badass heroine, and I loved how she refused to give up without a fight.

Rescuing Katherine, Bravo RISC Team #2 by Anna Blakely
I purchased this audiobook.
I will start by saying the narration in this audio book was amazing. Both narrators did a fantastic job bringing the characters to life for me.
I will say I was excited for Matt’s book after reading book 1. But I gotta tell ya, he was a major diiiiiiiiiiiiiiick. Like I really didn’t like him. OK Lemme say that the prologue broke my heart yes buuuuut he was such an awful guy to Kat when he sees her 10 years later. I was like WOW Kat kick him right in the dick. He was hateful and YES, I understand I have had my heart broken BUT at the same time he just didn’t listen.
Kat was a nice girl. She was put in hard positions her whole life by her dad. Yes, I get why she broke Matt’s heart BUT when she says she still loved him 10 years later even when he was so douche, I was like GIRL NO!
Now the first part of the book I was not a fan of with them reconnecting and him being such as asshole. HOWEVER, once the story of why she needed protection took off I really did enjoy the story. I liked the who and why of so many aspects. Was I ok with the 2nd chance when it happened? Yes but at the same time I wish she made Matt grovel for like maybe 10 minutes LOL
So if you can get past the first few chapters with a mega asshat and get into the story I think you will enjoy the book.

Rescuing Katherine contains a gripping plot with an underlying and engaging story running through several R.I.S.C. series' books and this one. I am hopeful this underlying story will be forthcoming in future R.I.S.C. books. There are characters you can relate to and come to care about. The story centers on R.I.S.C. Bravo team member Matthew Turner and Dr. Katherine (Kat) Marsh. Matt and Kat have a personal history from ten years before. Each is living with heartbreak and for Matt, also bitterness. Kat needs protection due to sabotage and a possible death threat relating to her classified work for the government and military. Matt becomes her bodyguard while the other team members acquire and check out information and clues as to Kat's situation. The story has unpredictability, strong characters and a roller coaster of a ride for those in the book as well as those reading it. My emotions joined those of the cast of characters due to the fact that the story was written so well, that I felt as if I was a part of it. I started reading this book and could not put it down until I was at the end. I highly recommend reading this book along with all the other R.I.S.C. Alpha and Bravo series books. I was given an ARC by the author in return for my honest review and now you have it.

I have been reading the R.I.S.C series since the beginning and I have really been enjoying it branching into the Special Forces Operation Alpha world. Rescuing Katherine was another great addition to the ever growing series! Matt Turner is one of our Bravo team members that has been holding a decade of hurt inside over the young girl that he fell in love with when he was in the Navy. He had hoped to marry her even though they were young and he was just beginning his career. Katherine Marsh loved Matt with all of her seventeen year old heart but broke up with him without giving him a concrete reason and ever since then Matt has erected a barbed wire fence around his heart. Now it is a decade later and he never thought that he would see Katherine again but she is in danger and has come to RISC for protection not knowing that Matt was working for them. Now not only do these two need to navigate the danger surrounding Katherine but they have to learn to work with and trust each other. Matt is a tough nut to crack but Katherine is truly amazing and hopefully he will let his heart open to love once again. I will not give away any spoilers but I will say that this is a bumpy ride for the two of them. Rescuing Katherine is written from dual POV and is loaded with angst, action and heat! It is a wild emotional ride that I highly recommend!

Ten years ago, just as Matt Turner was getting ready to propose to his girlfriend Katherine Marsh, she broke his heart and dumped him. He’d always assumed it was because he wasn’t good enough or rich enough. Since then, he’s sworn off love and commitment, sticking to one-night stands. When Katherine shows up at R.I.S.C. seeking protection from a killer, Matt is assigned as her bodyguard. It doesn’t take long for old feelings to surface, and when truths come out, Matt has to decide if he wants to try again. Just when things are getting good, scientist Katherine is snatched by an Iranian military leader who needs her to create a serum for his soldiers. If Matt and Bravo Team can rescue Katherine, they might have their second chance.

This book is all romance, heat, and action. The story is really good, and I especially love how in-depth Blakely creates Katherine’s story to let us know why she did what she did. The best part of all of these R.I.S.C. books is the strong relationships among all the team members. They are truly a family and band of brothers.

This book can be read as a standalone, but you’ll be happy if you start from the beginning! Let me know if you read - I’d love to discuss!

Better, but still a lot of plot holes.

Katherine/Kat is 17 when she dumps Matt, when he was going to propose to her. Ten years later and Kat goes to R.I.S.C for help as she’s in danger. Matt is incredibly angry and bitter and he’s horrid to her. He doesn’t ask her why she did it, and she doesn’t explain either. Kat is the only survivor in a laboratory, that was creating a serum that could help soldiers. That was top secret. So why, throughout the book does she tell the R.I.S.C team, and their wives what the serum is???

Matt and Kat go to stay at Kole’s cabin so he can protect her. ERM. WHEN DID HE GET THAT CABIN? THAT CABIN THAT NATE COULD HAVE USED! Anyway moving on. Matt is told to protect Kat while they…….investigate? Not really sure what they do. Of course sparks fly between them and they clear the air. Then Kat is taken, and it’s the same hired baddie as the last book. Boy he gets around.

It is definitely better this book, but there are silly plot lines again, and mistakes. I have to say that I’m carrying on reading them. As I do like parts of them. Just wish it was written better.

Matt had his heart shattered when he was young and it shaped the man he is. He was closed off and shut down from women except for a night. A night he could give. Katherine was raised by a dad who wanted the best in life for her but went about it all the wrong ways. She loved Matr her whole life but dad got in the way of that..... She hasn't had an easy life either and to make things worse now someone wants her dead. She goes to R.I.S.C for help unknowing her Matt is an operative there. He fights the chemistry that is still lingering between the two of them and tries to get her to walk away. Once he sees reason and decides to help he still fights the chemistry till he just cant anymore. Once these two finally tell each other everything and Katherine decides to quit hiding her secrets they have a realnchamce till the killer strikes and she is kidnapped. Now Matt and his team along with a little help from Ghost and his team they on a time clock to rescue Katherine..... Anna did it again with her twisted self and the emotional rollercoaster she puts you on.

I borrowed Rescuing Katherine ~ R.I.S.C. Bravo Series ~ Book 2 by Anna Blakely from the Kindle Unlimited Program.

Matthew Turner, on R.I.S.C. Bravo team is a player that doesn't believe in love and a happily ever after, at least not sine Katherine Marsh, the only woman he ever loved broke his heart ten years ago. When she walks into R.I.S.C. as a client needing protection his whole world shifts and Jake assigns him to be her personal protection detail.

Katherine is a scientist working in a classified lab on a U.S. Military contract and her lab exploded and her apartment was searched. The danger in the plot is real and comes with the return of the one bad guy that got away in Rescuing Gracelynn the previous book in the series.

The conflict between Matt and Kat add an romantic side to the plot with a happy resolution and they finally told each other the truths about why and what they did in the ten years apart. Great book that I read in less than a day and can't wait for the next book in the series.

Biomedical engineer Katherine Marsh has developed a vaccine that would give soldiers in the field minutes that could save their lives. RISC operative Matthew Turner would rather not be involved in anything that puts him anywhere near Kat. A decade ago, they were teens madly in love with plans for their bright future. Her dad was a huge obstacle having decided Matt wasn’t good enough for Katherine and didn’t fit his plans for a wealthy life and manipulated a painful breakup.

Over the decade, Kat was practically helpless against her father’s quest for her to live the life he wanted for her though she has tiny rebellions, and; Matt thinks if she sleeps with enough women, it’ll loosen Kat’s hold on his heart. It becomes clear Kat’s life is in jeopardy when her workmates are killed and her apartments broken into. Matt’s assigned as her bodyguard. Kat wants drama-less forgiveness while Matt will take the drama if he gets answers as an international terrorist ring is closing in on Kat.

The second book in Anna Blakely's Bravo RISC team, Rescuing Katherine is a hit. Combining characters from her own RISC series and Susan Stoker's Delta Force series has proven to be a masterful technique. I could not put the book down until it ended, and even though the story is complete, Ms. Blakely left me wanting more!
Rescuing Katherine pulls you in from the beginning as you get to know Matt Turner. Do not skip the prologue in this book, as you immediately learn the back story between Matt and Katherine. Searching for protection her from danger, Katherine enlists the RISC team's help. Matt's past is there in all its glory as he is blindsided by the appearance of Katherine.
Don't miss the roller coaster ride as Matt and Kat find a way to navigate their past while trying to stay safe from evil. Full of suspense, espionage, and romantic chemistry, this book is one you will not want to miss.

This book was amazing. It was written in such a way that you felt what both Matt and Kat were feeling. You cold feel the hurt and love they both had for each other. You understood when Matt lashed out in anger towards Kate and it just made you want to hug him more.

What I loved about this book was how wonderfully written this second chance romance was. You were along for the ride as each of them were going through the stages. I loved that they didn't immediately fall into bed with each other. They needed to resolve some issues first. Even when they were fighting, you could feel that the passion was still there.

I really liked the character of Matt in this book. However, the person I need to point out the most is Kat. This woman sacrifices herself over and over again to try and make others happy. She is one strong woman!! I also loved that she was written not only as a strong woman but also a smart woman. She was doing something she loved and helping people in the process.

Matt is bitter, on the day that he was proposing his girlfriend dumped him. This event has shaped how he treats women for the past 10 years, he's got a reputation. As Matt works for R.I.S.C. he's called in to protect a Dr. who's creating a secret military chemical agent. That doctor turns out to be the woman who dumped him 10 years ago. Let's just say the sparks start to fly. I absolutely loved the conversations in Matt's head or his thoughts in his head, especially "his nutsack twisted the most was his conflicting emotions when it came to Kat". There are twists and turns as a reader that you can follow and be on the edge of your seat when you read this story. It's a definite page turner and an exceptional next chapter for this series and spin off series. I absolutely love Ms. Blakely's work.

I received this advanced reader's copy in exchange for an honest review.

EXCITING STORY! 😁

I really enjoyed this book. Catherine and Matt were a great couple. Their romance was sweet, sexy and heartwarming. The suspense and action was packed throughout this book! There were a lot of twists and turns... I thought the whole plot was very cleverly done and once I started it I read right through till the end..

I love how Anna Blakely portrays her characters. They come through as so real. She has that special touch that makes you feel their emotions as if they were real! Her men characters are strong but also very sensitive. That makes the stories so much more heartfelt and satisfying. It is always great to catch up with the other teams featured in the series also! I highly recommend this book... And all of her books... Every one of them is an excellent choice if you like romantic suspense!☺

I am in love with Anna Blakely’s R.I.S.C series and I’m thrilled to read another addition of the Bravo team in Rescuing Katherine. Focusing on one of the team members named Matt, this character has closed himself off from love ever since his young heart was torn to pieces by his first love. Kat has had to keep many secrets and give up happiness with the one man she ever loved, but when her life is in danger, she will have to face that pain she had to hide away so long ago again. Now together after 10 years, Matt and Kat will have to keep each other safe and maybe rekindle what they started so long ago in the process. I was on the edge of my seat throughout this book and I loved every minute of it. Can’t wait to read more stories from the Bravo team!

Oh wow! Gosh I felt for this couple, Katherines father was so selfish and self centred on what he wanted for her and so very wrong it nearly ruined lives. This story is heart breaking at times but you feel the strong deep love that these two have for each other even when angry or trying to hate, it just eminates off the pages. It's gritty, suspenseful and gripping. I loved the characters, or the good ones anyway lol. The crossover works really well with the other team and both blend together like they've served together for years. I need the next book now coz I'm impatient to know what's going on. Fantastic story interesting plot and hot vulnerable guys what more could you possibly want in a book to lose yourself in and just soak it all up.

Rescuing Katherine

WOW!Another FANTASTIC story by Anna! This is basically a second chance romance. Matt had lost the love of his life not realizing she was protecting him from her dad. Kat regretted her choice and was miserable for ten years. She went to R.I.S.C. for help in finding out who was trying to kill her. She meets the love of her life but he didn't want to have anything to do with her in the beginning. Once she explained what happened, Matt started to lose his anger towards Kat and put it on her dad. After that, bad things started to happen fast to the point that Kat almost lost her life. Once the bad guy was eliminated by Kat, these two started working on their happily ever after. FANTASTIC job Anna! I would recommend this book.

Rescuing Katherine

Rescuing Katherine is the second story in Bravo Teams series set in SFOA world. Matt Turner aka medic of Bravo is the male lead. This is second chance Romance. Katherine Walsh is the leading lady. Matt and Kat were in love 10 years ago but something tore them apart. When Kat needs protection she turns to RISC and gets Bravo's Turner as her own personal guard. With danger knocking on Kat's door, Matt and Kat have to find a way to clear the air in order to find out who wants Kat. Blakely gives us all the goods that make up a good story. Another hit for Blakely. My only question is what is up with Walker...will we ever get the truth about him. Happy Reading!!

Another amazing story by Ms. Blakely.

She does a wonderful job of showing us the sense of brotherhood and family between military teams both during their service and when they continue to work together afterwards.

She writes amazing alpha males who are tough when they need to be and will do whatever it takes to protect that one woman who was meant just for them.

She writes some pretty amazing heroines as well. I love that she portrays them as strong, smart women who aren't just cowering in a corner waiting for their man to save them. They are doing everything in their power to save themselves as well.

Looking forward to more from Bravo Team!

Matt & Katherine

This is the second book in Anna Blakely’s Bravo R.I.S.C. Team series which is a spin-off from her R.I.S.C Series. It also features Susan Stoker’s Delta Force Heroes characters. Which packs a whole lot of sexy, alpha, military men in the pages of this book!
Ten years ago Matt and Kat were in love with each other, to protect Matt, Kat had to break both of their hearts. Now, someone is trying to kill Katherine and Matt is on the team assigned to protect her. Behind the pain their love survives, but can he save her life?
This book has lots of action, suspense, humor, and steam.

Anna Blakely does a wonderful job of writing this second chance a love HEA. Matt and Kat thought they had their whole lives ahead of them to enjoy. But Matt being from the wrong side of the tracks their dreams were shattered. When Kat becomes the focus of a kidnapping and subsequent death threats she hires the best in the business to help her. But little did she know the love of her life would be the one. A mix of drama, suspense, and love will keep you from putting this one down till you are done.

Not as good as I thought it would. Matt was such an asshole. If he truly loved & knew Katherine he should have known something was up when she broke up with him but he didn't. He let her go. She was right at the 1st sign of trouble he bolted. He never loved her as he claimed he did. He knew her father was manipulative & didn't think he had anything to do with the break-up.
Matt is such an asshole & I don't know why Katherine kept loving him. She should have forgotten him & moved on to someone who would truly love & understood her. But then this book is fiction after all so thankfully no women would be stupid enough to get into a relationship with an asshole, like Matt.

The story was good and it was like watching a movie. I liked Katherine's character and she was brave.
I didn't like Matt, he always had a chip on his shoulder and obviously he couldn't see clearly what was happening.
He should have fought for her and instead what did he do? He sampled all the female population that he could get because he didn't want to get heartbroken again.. is it really like this in real life as well??? This was another example of double standards and that's why the book left me with a bad taste.
Loved the side characters and they seemed far more mature. Thank God his teammates were not manwh0res.

Ms. Blakely takes us on a ride full of action, betrayal, murder, and bravery. Kat and Matt had a history and they come together after 10 years due to an event that has made Kat a target. Bravo RISC Team is a group of highly trained men who are close like brothers and are able to anticipate each other's needs and work together as a fighting unit. Ms. Blakely writes realistic characters and stories that will have you enthralled and anticipating her next book. I received this as an ARC and voluntarily give my opinion.
