Wow! As far as romantic suspense goes, this was just as good as the first book in this series! It really kept me on my toes! Super soldier serums, scientists with eidetic memories, murder, treason, and non-stop action...I was biting my nails and kept waiting for the next shoe to drop!
As for the romance, I love second chances; especially when outside forces are what kept them apart and not some stupid miscommunication or misunderstanding that could easily be solved from a simple conversation. Kat was actually trying to protect Matt--rightfully so--and my heart broke for her. Now, Matt and Kat were basically kids when they were last together...17 and 18 years old. Parental interferences can be tricky, but I do think that Matt should have been a bit more understanding once he found out the truth years later. I get that his heart was broken, but again, they were practically kids, and Kat's father was a jack@$$ of the highest degree.🙄
****Tiny Spoiler Ahead****
Also, her not being physically or sexually involved with someone because her heart belonged to Matt was a bit of a stretch, and quite frankly unfair and unbelievable. As a woman, I know we're built differently emotionally, but to have this woman deprive herself of physical contact for ten years while Matt "sexed" away his pain with so many women was an insult. Normally, I'm always willing to suspend reality for a good story, but I had to deduct a star rating for that.
****End of Spoiler****
As for the story as whole, I loved it...the suspense, the action, and the romance. Again, these men and women are like family and will do whatever it takes to protect each other. Kat is a badass heroine, and I loved how she refused to give up without a fight.
