Alice Adelcraft is a regular personshe has no special powers or anything like that. She works in an antique shop, but things turn magical when she follows a black cat. She discovers a whole street dedicated to magic as well as a dead body. When a young teen is accused of the murder, Alice is determined to find the real killer. She is convinced the teen is innocent, even though no one else thinks so.

Paranormal cozy mysteries arent usually my genre but I was fascinated when I read the description.

MYSTERIOUS MERCHANDISE by Astoria Wright
The First Witches Thrift Shop Mystery

Now aware that witches do exist, she begins to straddle the two worlds, cognizant that the murder was just the beginning and that something dangerous is afoot. When an orphaned teen gets blamed for the murder, Alice knows she has to stand up for him and prove his innocence.

Mysterious Merchandise is a cute cozy mystery with magic, Untalented and Talented people, hidden streets, and crabby genies. When Alice Adelcraft stumbles upon a black cat that leads her into an alley, she had no idea that she's about to enter a world she is supposed to know nothing about. Things get even more peculiar when Alice happens upon a dead woman. Now Alice must figure out who wanted the woman dead before others, including herself, are next.

I enjoyed Mysterious Merchandise. The story is

Letting the jinn out of the lamp maybe just a step to far

A good read. Still doesn't answer the question as to whether or not she does have magic. But she does have a desire for the truth and isn't willing to see a young boy charged with murder. This definitely has vibes of the magic alley used in Harry Potter and various other books. The characters are still a bit transparent and need a bit more grounding and the plot itself could have been more clearly laid out.
It all began with a rainy day,

I am on the fence about this story. I liked the characters but am not sure how much I liked the story. I'm willing to continue with the series though.
