This story is an emotional rollercoaster which focuses on the ups and downs of the married life of Adita and Meher.
Meher wakes up one day to find Aditya missing. At first she thinks he has gone to work and proceeds with her routine work. But when he did not return she gets suspicious and calls all her relatives, friends to find out about him but nobody had any clue as to where he is.
The story focuses on Meher recalling the events of the day Aditya went missing and trying to find out the mystery behind his sudden disappearance. All through this she remained indifferent without showcasing her emotions which causes everyone to doubt her intentions including her parents.
Where is Aditya? Is Meher really trying to find out where he is or does she have a role in his disappearance as everyone thinks? Will Aditya ever come back?
The story is very interesting and kept me hooked till the end. It story shifts between past and present many times but it doesn't cause any confusion and the climax was unexpected. The character of Meher is very complicated but somehow I liked this character very much. The writing style of the author is very good and the language used is simple and lucid.
A gripping novel right from the first page. I am not an avid reader but this book and its narrative not only kept me hooked but kept me on the edge of my seat till the end. Congratulations to the author for such a brilliant creation and looking forward to more such mystery, thriller, drama combo books from the author!
I was awed to see how each character has been thoughtfully crafted to blend in the story seamlessly. The book has everything you would need in a fiction novel- drama, thrill, humor and the twist is just mind-blowing. #spolierAlert Can't wait to read more from this author!
After quite a long time came across a book which captures the reader's attention right from the start. The characters are built in beautifully and the author has given special attention to small details to bring alive every character! Lovely read! Can't wait to read more books by this author!
A page turner with a medley of characters with their own personalities. The protagonist was so complex, yet so real and relatable. The suspense was gripping and eagerly waiting for a sequel (hint hint ;)) Overall the writing style was amazing. The way personalities, situations and even just mundane details such as weather were described was really pictorial and aesthetically done, yet simple to understand. People should definitely read this one!
The story is about the married couple– Aditya and Meher. They were once happy and seems almost perfect. But one thing happened that changes almost everything between them and makes a big point to question their marriage.
A huge thanks to the author for letting me know that this book exists. Not gonna lie, this book really hooked me. I'm a slow reader but I did binge-reading for this one. Fortunately, I wasn't disappointed. The writing is good, the flow of the story–from present to past, vice versa–is adequate, and the idea is unique.
There are just few things in this book that I cannot find a way to relate to– the marriage and some other Indian cultures. But I found it really interesting! Also, I found it hard to memorize or remember the name of the characters. Apparently, this book is good. Easy read. The story itself isn't disappointing at all.
I enjoyed reading this story, set in Delhi, which is centred on Meher and her husband, Aditya, who has gone missing. The story features lots of jumping between the present and the recent past (chapter names have dates so the flashbacks aren’t jarring), to show us what the marriage between these two was like – and gives us a chance to know Aditya. This works as the more we get to know him, the more unlikely it seems that he would simply walk out on Meher without a word. He didn’t even take his wallet or his phone!
There’s some great stuff in the marriage backstory, which even travels back to the first time they met. It covers the things couples squabble about too – one of my favourite being who gets the left side of the bed! Believe me, I relate to this (and many others will too). These small details add authenticity to the characters and make the story more believable. The ‘flashbacks’ are important – and small details like Aditya giving Meher her favourite flowers, yellow frangipanis, contrasted with minor disputes about things that may seem trivial on the surface, ring true of most relationships.
The support cast of characters vary, some are more interesting than others. Meher’s boss, Aarti AKA ‘The Devil’ is one that stood out for me, along with Siya, who says the right things and appears helpful but has disingenuous motives. Of course they have questions for Meher, some believing she’s either holding something back or has missed something critically important as to why Aditya has gone missing. He did try to call her that day, repeatedly, but she was in a meeting and forgot to return his call. Had something gone wrong? All the little details build the suspense nicely – this is a mystery that’s well told.
The story’s interesting and intriguing and the writing style is engaging and professional. As Meher searches for answers, with the support of family and friends, we begin to feel the protagonist’s pain as she comes back to a now empty house and struggles to get any closer to truth. The entrance of a mysterious character called Shamani is an interesting twist – as she claims the disappearance of Aditya is more than what it seems and threatens to send the story spinning in a new direction.
In terms of things I wasn’t sure of: I found the backstories of minor characters sometimes took me away from the main story – I wanted to find out what happened to Aditya, I wanted Meher to find out as I shared her worry – so let’s get back to that. The other is the ending – perhaps it wasn’t foreshadowed as I expected it would be but it did seem ‘out of the blue’. It’s not a bad ending at all, in fact it’s quite a twist, it just wasn’t what I expected.
Overall though, this is a really well-told story by an accomplished writer and there’s a lot to like. I enjoyed it and recommend it. People and their stories are what drives good fiction and this certainly ticks those boxes.
I give it four stars for the successful attempt of spooking me off in the middle of the night.
Enchanted Frangipani is the debut novel by Nisha Harboala. I am not much of a mystery reader these days, but I read here and there, especially if it's by a new author. You get engulfed in the book right from the opening scene, where Meher wakes up in the vacant room, and by the time the day ends, she realizes her husband has left her without a trace. Every character has layers to them, just like ordinary people hiding their darkness beneath them. The story moves back and forth between the past and present life of Meher.
For me, the story gets interesting with the entry of a new character Shamani. And from there, you run high on adrenaline expecting new things at every page turn. And if you don't reach much mystery like me, avoid reading it at night. The story is open-ended, leaving a lot to the reader's imagination.
The only flaw I found in the story is too much use of metaphors and analogies. We, as writers, often forget sometimes simple sentences say a lot more than the decorated ones. I would definitely recommend this excellent book to anyone who has a thing for mystery.
I am looking forward to reading her next work. All the best, and keep writing !!

Aside from the fear and frustration, doubt and paranoia, exasperation and rage, Meher feels isolated amongst friends and family, who she believes, hold her guilty of his disappearance. She resorts to unusual means to find her answers.
After months of relentless effort, is Meher successful? Does she find the right approach to reach him? Is she right in feeling abandoned, and not just by Aditya? Is there someone close who is trying to sabotage her life? Is she the reason behind her own misery? Is her husband in trouble or has he simply opted out of their marriage? Were they ever happily married? Who can she trust?
Get on the passenger seat with Meher to find out how much pressure she can take before the lines blur between imagination and reality. Talking about reality, how much do we really know about the people we share our lives with? Could they walk out on you while you sleep? A few months ago, Meher would have laughed at this question too.
Review: Overall, I thought this book was pretty good! I felt the story was engaging and the characters were well developed. I also felt that the writing was really well done. Overall, I really enjoyed this cozy read.
However, I do feel like the story was really predictable for my tastes even with all the twists. I also felt that the pacing was a bit off. It went fast and then really slow and back again.
Verdict: If this is your type of book you’ll really enjoy this.
The imagination of the author describing minute things are so great. Aditya was shown as an absent minded character and those incidents like driving the car without knowing that he had left the laptop on the hood of the car, locking her inside, leaving his phone, and all is a sign of very good imagination. I wondered how the author could think that way.
The writing style is so good. It is satisfying and at most of the times, it has a touch of emotions and thoughts in it. I have highlighted so many paragraphs as they are so great to be reread.
I'm sharing one such random paragraph here with you!
"Sometimes, the facts before our eyes shout out loud for attention. At other times, it’s the voice in our head that honks the caution horn. Either of the two are tough to ignore. In Meher’s case, she didn’t know which one it was, but it was beginning to cause her concern. Real or imaginary, it was pulling her towards a dark corner in her heart that she reserved for all her fears."
The suspense is maintained through out the book. The combination of present and past events are good and this book is an emotional read for me!
That day Meher fought with the alarm and finally woke up, just to find her husband Aditya missing near her. She could not recall any incidents of him saying about the sudden work. No calls or messages explaining it too. As she got ready for her work, she called Aditya one final time, but the phone rang in their living room. He seemed to have left it in a hurry.
After her work, she tried contacting Aditya's office, getting another shock- he hadn't come to work that day! He was not found in home too! Where has he went? Why hadn't he informed her? Could she find him after those great efforts? Is he in any trouble or it is to break his marriage? However, how could he just move out without leaving a word!
The character sketches are so good. The author never forgets to introduce each character with their key habits making us know them better. I can't control myself from mentioning her boss, Aarthi, shortly and sweetly known as 'The devil' by her team members.
Enchanted Frangipanis was gifted to us by the author, Nisha Harbola! We love when authors reach out to us! Have you ever read a book but not really known how to feel about the ending? That’s kind of how I feel right now. I need someone to read this so I can discuss it with them🤣 Overall this was a good story. Meher wakes up to find her husband Aditya has gone missing. This kind of story is right up my alley! The couple’s friends and family can’t quite understand how Meher is dealing with her grief. She is calm and collected most of the time when they believe she should be hysterical and frightened. Is she hiding something or is she really just trying to put on a brave face and get on with her life? That ending though...it almost ruined the whole thing for me! ( I am referring to one very specific part😉) Please someone tell me they’ve read this and let me know what you think of the ending! 🌺🧜🏻♀️
When I started the book I was expecting to know more about a couple's relationship. Nisha surprised me with beautifully walking me through a myriad of relationships and most importantly emphasising on the relationship with one's self! I loved how the book alternates from the past to the present revealing some and holding back some. It's a lovely story and even better writing!
The book has you hooked from the beginning. With twists and turns weaved beautifully it sure takes you on a roller coaster ride while ensuring the reader does have their share of laughter. A great attempt at signifying how complicated yet powerful our mind can be! Recommended to anyone wanting a fast paced (not the run of the mill) mystery reads.
An easy, gripping, and fresh read. Every character has been well thought out and has more to it than what meets the eye. The end definitely leaves you asking for more!
The book ‘Enchanted Frangipanis’ written by author Nisha Harbola revolves around the marital life of protagonists Meher and Aditya, and Meher’s life after Aditya’s disappearance. To close family, friends and colleagues, they were the ‘perfect couple’ in a happy married life, but were they? Meher and Aditya’s families were faced with this same question after Aditya suddenly disappeared leaving no trace and they started a hunt to track him down. Aditya’s rejection of Meher by simply leaving her (or so she thought) hit her like a truck. She did everything she could in order to cut out social interaction, and resigned to accepting the fact that Aditya had left her for good. Frustration, self-doubt and paranoia were her friends in the early days of Aditya’s disappearance. Later on, she decided that indulging herself in her work would distract her mind from the fear and constant stress. No one could see through her façade of perfect control over her emotions that she had put up in order to avoid anybody’s pity. Their family members did everything within their abilities to find any clue that Aditya might have left, but in vain. Will Meher ever find her loved husband? Who should she trust, now that many think Meher herself might have something to do with Aditya’s disappearance? To get the answers, go grab a copy of Enchanted Frangipanis. The title is very apt, the reason will be clear to anyone who reads the book (I won’t reveal since it’ll ruin the excitement). This novel took me on an absolute roller-coaster of events, facts and emotions. The characters have been built up impeccably well. Each character is stand-alone and does not need any other character to justify their standing. The novel explores a number of mental health topics, from depression to the various emotions one confronts after losing a loved one. I personally loved the gripping storyline of the book and would recommend it to anyone looking for something out of the box.
Book : Enchanted Frangipanis Author : Nisha Harbola
This story was almost like watching a movie. Every scene was running inside my mind. The author's writing skill was the obvious reason behind this. Is it because of beautiful writing style, or proper handling of emotions, Or Existing characters.
According to the plot, Aditya and Meher are the protagonists of the story. Both living their life. One day Meher found Aditya missing from home. One fine morning, Meher wakes up only to find Aditya's side of the bed vacant. She tries to call him but he has left his phone behind. Waiting for him to get in touch with her, she resumes her day. Things become suspicious about his whereabouts when there is no communication with him for the entire day and he doesn't return home at his usual time. Both sets of worried parents and siblings gather at Meher's recently re-decorated home. The story depicts about their life's ups and downs. Each one has a different theory behind Aditya's disappearance and is putting in the best efforts to find him. But Meher's extra calm demeanour stings her mother-in-law. On the other hand, Aditya's best friend is who Meher doubts. Where is Aditya? Does Meher actually have a role in his disappearance?
While reading certain scenes in the story I actually felt like it was happening in reality ! That is how the book deeply engages the readers. Many more gave a scary experience while reading this book. The author has a good storytelling style. However, it's the ending that was the most terrifying.
Such an intriguing and unique storyline. A story full of emotional ups and down. Eloborate writing and smooth transition between scenes. The plot and the plot twist were shocking and I like it alot. This book got me hooked right from start and you just can't stop reading it unless you have finished it.
4.5 🌟 Okay, honestly ended up liking this book a lot more than I thought I would. I didn't actually read the synopsis going in so I was constantly surprised at the changing and shifting of tone throughout the whole book.
To be frank, the changing time lines tripped me up so much. That's the only reason I dropped a half star, because otherwise I was completely invested in Meher and her family's life. It felt like I got invited into a year in the middle of Delhi and that was so incredibly fun. The prose was very lyrical and sometimes comical in the most unexpected ways. It's comfortable and yet spooky, you can feel each character's emotion and you care about the smallest detail about the side characters lives. There's a lot of books that I get super bored with but I was never bored despite the fact that it was a low action, slow burn mystery. I never suspected a thing and I really enjoyed that. It's one of those books that I feel conflicted in no way about giving it a high rating. I'm very confident that it is well written and interesting and I would recommend it to anyone who likes a mind-twister with a \slight spoiler\ mysterious finale.
*I received a free copy of this book so that I could share my opinion. I was in no way forced or obligated to review nor give a good one. All opinions are entirely my own and unpersuaded*

The story has been centred around the life happenings of the protagonist named Mehar and her husband Aditya. Her life become more complex when she comes to know about her husband missing. She vigorously tried hard to know about Aditya so, she recalled if he mentioned anything previous night. Meher awakens one sunny morning to discover Aditya's bed's other side empty. He had left his cellphone behind because she attempts to reach him. She carries on with her day while she waits to hear from him Contact her. When she has no contact with him throughout the day and he will not really arrive home at the scheduled time, suspicions regarding his whereabouts grow. At Meher's freshly recently renovated home, both families' anxious children and parents congregate. Each person is making every attempt to locate Aditya and has a different conception as to how he vanished. Each personality has depths to them, much like everyday people do when they conceal their darker sides. The narrative alternates through Meher's current and previous selves. I found the book to be a really enjoyable read, and the author did a great job building tension. The text is really straightforward and easy to read. And the novel is quick paced and consequently makes it more engaging. The language is straightforward. This intriguing tale has a complex premise.
This book is a thrill read with a dose of mind gripping storyline and a well maintained pace with unpredictable twists and turns included. An amazing narration style and an intriguing plot.
Basically, this book is about a character named Meher whose life turns upside down when one morning she gets abandoned by her husband. From there starts the journey of chaos,
Being a fictional read, the ride of tremendous storyline has the potential to keep its readers attached into turning the pages till the very end.
The whole sequence felt adventurous and a bit ruinous too. The title of the book was up to mark. However, book cover could have been made more captivating according to the storyline.
The language used was simple and understandable. The plot was excellent with a bunch of drama, action, suspense, mysteries, thrill, and emotions. Definitely recommended for everyone to read.
There are certain stories that have a beautiful blend of both emotions as well as mystery .There were certain twists in the story that seemed predictable and some were definitely amazing and new .I haven't read a story like this since long and therefore I really enjoyed reading it .Also its not only about finding the person who left , but also about why they did so , and where they are , and it really is not an easy thing to do because there are a lot of emotions that go on with it and especially when your surroundings are not favouring you . I really liked the way story is written , this is was a great read for me .It definitely was a page turner and therefore I had to finish it in one reading and I enjoyed every bit of it thoroughly.
Also sometimes it's important to read books that give you a spirit to fight will she be able to find Aditya or is he just gone one night like puff is something you need to read and know but I am sure you won't be disappointed.
I relished reading this book right from the first page. The story is quite fascinating and kept me hooked till the terminus. It story gives us glimpse of past and present but it wasn't at all perplexing. The terminus was authentically unexpected though.
The story revolves around Aditya and Meher who are an adolescent couple with a blissful espoused life. There is a turn of events when one morning, Meher arouses and funds out that Aditya has gone missing without any trace. What transpired to Aditya? Where is he?
The story fundamentally unfolds the mystery behind Aditya's sudden disappearance. The language is kept simple and the plot is quite engaging which avails the readers to develop more and more interest in the book.
The story revolves around Meher. The book starts with Meher morning routine. When I first started the book I realised it is going to be perfect romantic novel, the way Meher and Aditya chemistry was shown in the book was so beautiful and lovely. The story will you about how Aditya met Meher and how they tied knot with each other. Everything explained in this book so beautifully. But now everything which seems beautiful is really beautiful. There're always some flwas, some secrets hidden inside one person.
The book for me was really very good read and the author had successfully created the suspense till the end. This book is an open end and I'm thinking of many possibilities that could end this story but I want a sequel of this book to be out. I enjoyed this book and I would recommend you too, to reas this book.
To another amazing read by the author with a unique title craving to find what lies within.
I have been a firm believer that you sow what you reap but while reading this book I didn't realised this quote meeting the realistic ends. Written mainly for you to taste the atrocities of life, the author narrates a story of a woman named,Meher, who is surrounded by innumerable questions, questioning eyes and accusations she doesn't have any idea about.
All seemed perfectly fine, until one morning she founds her husband Aditya is no more around her and have abandoned her without any explanations neither any reasons.
So will Meher breakdown in the hands of her destiny or will fight and strive hard to pen down her story her own way. Read this engaging and absorbing read of a kind which will leave you speechless. Loved it !!!
