I really enjoyed this book. I loved how the author compared being a fighter pilot to a parent. Great book. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher or author via goodreads giveaway in exchange for an honest review, and I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.
I won this eBook from a Goodreads giveaway and I’m glad I didn’t actually pay for it. While I dislike leaving bad reviews, I can not recommend this book to anyone. It took me a long time to get through because instead of being about parenting it seemed more like the author trying to relive his glory days and then trying to make his stories relevant to raising his children. The chapter about integrity was the only one that had any merit.

I am an anxious parent. Always wondering what I could do better to prepare my children for life and raise happy healthy children. I enjoyed this book and took what I felt like were great lessons to apply to my own parenting. I received this book in a goodreads giveaway and it is one of the ones that I am so happy I won! I will absolutely read again!
"As a parent, have you ever been anxious about your child venturing away from the safety and security of home?" This is how the book starts, and yes, as a parent I do have this same feeling. Will I ever be able to protect my child from all the horrors in the world? Will I raise him well? Will I be able to teach him the values my parents thought me? All these are the same anxieties all parents feel. This book is giving a new perspective from a point of view of a former Navy commander. Never have

I really liked the concept of comparing raising children to being a fighter pilot and it resonated with me a lot. As I know nothing about fighter pilots I enjoyed some of the scenarios and stories and how they applied to parenting. I can see the resemblance. But it got old quickly. The book is really long, wordy, I got bored with the stories. The takeaways for parenting weren’t earth shattering great advice. I really got lost in the second chapter with bringing God info it. I respect people who

I won this book as part of a goodreads giveaway and the following is my honest review.
I wish this were written by a mother in the military. while I appreciated the anecdotes as a veteran, this read like a SOP manual. I was hoping for more family anecdotes. the author's position on athletes' protests were unnecessary here and his opinions soured the book for me. ...more

I won a Kindle copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway, for which I'd like to thank the publisher and author.
This was an interesting idea - how does a fighter pilot's experience relate to parenting? I liked the stories the author told and I also liked the 'fighter pilot parent takeaway' at the end of each chapter, summarizing the key points. I don't quite agree with everything the author claims is important (we will disagree about faith's importance), but I thought that what he had to impart w ...more

I don’t have kids of my own yet, but this book has insight I felt I could use daily with my nieces and nephews until then! I didn’t really get too into this book... it wasn’t what I was expecting, but I’m excited to read it more in-depth when I do have kids, to refer back to! Thank you for the gifted copy!
