Xianliang Zhang, male, national first-class writer, collector and calligrapher, was born in Nanjing in 1936; his home town is xuyi, Jiangsu province. Solid The town of Fort Western Studios, Old Yinchuan Street. He starts his literature creation in fifties when he studies in middle school, and moved to Ningxia from Beijing in 1955 as a peasant and then as an instructor. In 1957, he was classified as rightist because of his published poetry named Song of the wind, since then he has accepted reform through labor in farm for 22 years. In the important year of 1979, he restarted to create novels, essays, comments and film script after being rehabilitated his reputation in The Third Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee, he became one of the most important writers. This Spirit and Flesh contains his 6 middle and short novels, including Old Man Xing and Dog , Dungeon of love -- a living prayer , Spirit and Flesh, The Children of River, Romantic Black Cannon, Fugen Temple.

Zhang Xianliang (Chinese: 张贤亮; December 1936 – 27 September 2014) was a Chinese author and poet, and former president of the China Writer Association in Ningxia. He was detained as a political prisoner during the Anti-Rightist Movement in 1957, until his political rehabilitation in 1979. His most well known works, including Half of Man is Woman and Grass Soup, were semi-autobiographical reflections on his life experiences in prison and in witnessing the political upheaval of China during the Cultural Revolution.
