Go to space, they said. It’ll be an adventure, they said. They had no idea.
Cora’s boring job as a lab tech on board the space station Shangris is interrupted when two ships fall out of hyperspace and put Earth smack in the middle of an intergalactic war. She’s not sure which side she should be on, but the built-like-a-brick-house blue warrior who rescues her from the crumbling station could be more evil than Hannibal Lecter and she might not care. Especially if he’s in to eating people. But not in the creepy way.
The Talia’s captain ordered Kiran and his team to search the damaged station for survivors, and kill any Scovid he might find. The squid-like humanoids were known for using more primitive races for barbaric experiments. The Talia was tailing this particular ship when they jumped blindly into an unknown sector of the galaxy. With Ka’atari mates being as rare as a three-headed givuthde, he never dreamed his would be one of the survivors.
Things get even more complicated when another hyperspace jump, an unruly alien pet, and politicians get involved.
DNF 54% - the author switched between main character voices mid chapter without any indication. Also, it felt like I was reading an outline of a sci fi romance rather than the book itself. Author has potential - needs editing and growth.
This novel had many typos and formatting issues, but I still enjoyed it quite a bit in spite of that. The characterization was vibrant and made me fall in love with both the hero and heroine. The development of the romantic relationship was far less high quality, with the hero and heroine falling into bed right away but the love happening much later in the story, and me as the reader not really seeing the process of these two characters falling in love. The world building was excellent for the Alliance and the Ka'atari warriors, especially considering how short the story was. The plot was entertaining and had me turning the pages quickly. This novel had low angst and high stakes, which tends to be one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. This novel uses the Fated Mates trope and a variation on the Mars Needs Women trope, which are both some of my favorite tropes. The characterization, world building, and plot rated four stars, with the development of the romantic relationship rating three stars, for a combined score of four stars. This novel ends on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, which is a big plus to this series if the author continues the pattern. I will be keeping my eye on this author's upcoming releases, hoping that the rough edges will smooth out over the next few novels in this series, because there is a kernel of a great, highly successful sci-fi romance author here. I recommend this book to fans of sci-fi romance with alien heroes and human heroines. I will not be buying myself a keeper copy of this novel at this time, but if the next couple novels in this series keep improving, I will probably start buying keeper copies for myself.

I read this through KU. The story is great. The characters, particularly the h is awesome. There are some glaring editing problems but they didn't interfere with my enjoyment of the story. Bonus, it was funny.
"Look on the bright side, we aren't going home anytime soon, and these guys can take care of us. We won't have to make any hard decisions like where to go or how to feed ourselves. The others might not be so lucky."
I find that concept very outdated and ancient history. This wasn’t the main characters point of view but hers wasn’t that much better. Her problem mostly was is he the good or the bad guy in that conflict. Black and white is also not a favourable concept. Being unilateral dependant is a recipe for disaster. Some women might still live for that concept, but not only is it mostly a relationship killer where the dependant side is the victim but it is also often used to control the other person and ending up becoming an abusive relationship, where the other side often gives in in fear of losing support like food. A place to sleep and foremost security. This might be my personal opinion, and there might be a lot of scenarios where that works out. But phrasing it like being lucky, is not acceptable. Especially having no clue about their characters, cultural habits, anything really. Because the sex is good? I am sorry, but that argumentation remembers me of women in the 50s and 60s that weren’t allowed to vote or work or even breath unless a man gave his explicit consent. The other reason might be she is implying he takes care of all the decisions concerning her well being while she is a willing concubine? Sigh that book!!!
The plot threat of her looking after the animals was simply sloppy. If the author at least gave it a purpose, like tending to them or helping one being stuck, anything but for her to be there not two seconds to let the accident happen. It just makes her look silly for nothing.
Why do I read sci-fi? Dear author, have some creativity and describe the aliens you are presenting, even if they are only in the background and the world building was as unique and imaginative as a sole of a shoe. The main male character is blue, build like a bodybuilder and hung like a horse, I have not much clue of special physical attributes or anything else much. The other aliens are mostly described as aliens varying in weird, having fur and a tail, best one was other creatures, or lizard like things, one with six arms which of course is a street merchant, not sure how imaginative and creative the author expects that to be. But this is a book, set in outer space, starring a human that didn’t know Aliens existed before and I highly doubt she would see the world through those eyes, being a scientist nonetheless.
In short order, this is a disaster not worth reading even for the genre the book is placed in. It is simply sloppy and unloved work in my opinion.
They have known each other for what? 3 days and he claims she has become a large part of his life!?! I think the author is delusional or selling us things that aren’t there. The most part of that time they avoided each other, because she needed time and space. The only thing she has become is a large part by dominating his thoughts, nothing else.
The book wasn't bad, per say. Most of it was quite confusing. The switches between scenes were sometimes well done and sometimes so abrupt you had to go back and re-read to make sure you didn't miss something. The romance scenes were luke-warm and quick. It was a lot like "he did a thing, she was done, he put it in, he was done" without much description about what those things were. A lot of actions they took just didn't make sense and had me going, "Wait, really?". But the banter between characters was cute and funny. Around half way I wasn't sure if I wanted to finish it but I did. It ended as abruptly as a lot of the rest of the transitions. Not sure I would read the rest of the series.
Lame. Fated insta mates and almost no plot. Short too. I almost DNF at 60%, but realized it would only take me an hour or two to finish, so I stuck with it.
This is the first book by Kenzie Kelly that I've read and I'm glad I did. It has a feisty leading lady, a loving and loyal almost cat, and a gorgeous blue alien. There's lots of suspense and steam too. Great book!! Hope Mouse gets his treat.
This was a quick read with lots of action right from the beginning. It caught my attention making me want to read more. That being said there are a few things that bothered me. I felt the book should have been longer because so many things were happening and then it was quickly over and then something else totally different suddenly happened and they were all in danger again. It just felt like the book skipped stuff. Then at 37% Cora is having girl talk with Stephanie and Steph is like "tell me about this dangerous animal you tamed." and I was completely confused. So I scrolled back trying to see what I missed. Couldn't find anything. So I just read on only for Cora to tame the animal at around 42%. So either Steph can predict the future or there is an editing issue. Also I thought Cora was kind of dumb. She kept bringing up that maybe the warriors who saved them from the murderous Scozid are really the bad guys but only think they are good... As if she didn't see the Scozid kill her own people. She drove me nuts. That being said I would probably read the next one to see where the author goes with the story. I did like the glimpse of the universe the author was building, I would love to read more about some of the interesting races she created.
My first time reading this author! I am in love! What a fantastic read! This book was awesome! I laughed quite a bit! I absolutely loved this book! Did I mention I loved this book? Ugh, why can’t I stumble upon these magnificent series when they have 20 books out instead of two!!!??? The world building is superb! The characters are also fantastic! Each have their own quirks that you want to explore more of. Anela is going to fall hard!! I can’t wait for Emily’s story! When she wakes up, wowza!! Stephanie LoL, well her base was quick to fall. Walls breached in record time but I wonder if her and Craix will still get a book or will we just see their relationship blossom and bloom alongside the others like how it’s been so far? 🤔🤔. Kiran was such a sweetheart towards Cora and who doesn’t love our resident alien kitty? I love her to bits! I love the fact that she has her as a friend and that she’s intelligent. Cracks me up 🤣. I’m so looking forward to the rest of these books! So, Mrs Kelly, I hope this review earns Mouse lots of treats lol 😂 read this book! It’s fantastic!
This was a very enjoyable book. It was light hearted, funny in places and had some hot scenes too.
Cora is a lab technician on a space station orbiting Earth when it’s smashed into by an alien vessel. She gets trapped on board along with another 8 women and they hide in the lab whilst the attacking aliens are taken out by handsome sexy aliens who rescue them.
It’s all very improbable but as we are talking about aliens and space stations, you can't worry too much about that. They get accidentally taken into alien territory with no way home. Of course the handsome sexy aliens are the good guys...... add sexy times, adventure times and a lethal telepathic purring animal that befriends her.
It’s all good fun and with more to come in the series, I should be entertained without being emotionally overwhelmed for a while!
The world under Cora's feet keeps disappearing. First was the space station and then the space ship she was rescued to and finally a bridge landed on her. Not such good odds. But she got two good things from it. First thing was Koran and runs and second thing was a lifetime friend, For I'd. She is a sentient cross like an alien tiger but all black who strikes terror in most beings. Koran tells Cora that they are trying to find earth and if she wants to go back,, he only wants her happiness. But it will write his heart out of his chest to do so. You figure it out. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. And guess what? It's a series! Oh, by the way, this is for adult readers! You can guess why, can't you?
A short read but very good. It starts with a bit of a bang. Two warring aliens decide to use the space above earth as a battle ground. One ship tries to help the humans in the space stations, but it does not go to plan. They end up with 9 human females far from earth and no clue of to go back.... Will the humans every see home again? Why are they drawn to the aliens?
My favorite character was Torvid, she reminds me of a cat I know. Total badass..... I can not wait for the next book....

Short story but very good. Waring Aliens and using the space above Earth as a battle ground. The Ka'atari follow the Scozid into Earth's space. The Scozid end up on the space station and start killing anything that moves. The Ka'atari tries to help but nothing ever goes according to plan and they end up taking 9 human females with them from earth with no way back. Total great moving story. Can't wait for the next book. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I love a good sci-fi book this one had strong women that stood up and faced dire consequences and adventure that was right in front of them I loved how the author took you through one amazing adventure after another but made it believable that it was just character standing up and facing adventure together
Don't get me wrong it was written well but I just don't think this was my kind of story the sexy stuff was like wham bam Thank you ma'am and I don't care for that I like details, passion, and emotions. So if you prefer this type of story u may like this book but it wasn't for me
Puppy needs a good treat and the book was good too. Could have used more heat but over all satisfying and intersecting. Please keep writing.
Good read. Kept my interest and helped me spend my time in the social distancing that we are all suffering through. Keep writing I want more and to know what happens with the squid.
I got swept up in this story as quickly as Cora getting rescued by real 'aliens'. Especially by her "Big Blue" Kiran. Really enjoyed the fast pace and universe building. Can't wait for the next book in this series to read about more adventures and romance discovering new galaxies.
I absolutely loved this book! Carrie was a fierce female that stood her ground and would not be bullied. She fought against the alien mating that overtook her until she was ready to accept it and Kiran. That she was able to befriend an alien cat with weird mental powers mad her even more badazz. I loved the action and the characters, it was exciting to read.
I consider this the first in the series and I read it second. Cora's survival through the collapsing space station, .collapsing ships, bridges and finding her warrior mate sounds a little far fetched. But the story telling is very good and you will stay involved in the story.
Having not read a Sci Fi book in quite a while, this one appealed to me. So I bought it and read it today. It's not very long, but an awful lot happens. Have given it 5 stars because I really did enjoy it, but am not buying the other 2 as I don't feel they will hold my attention, plus books are quite short Sue P
This is a story about a space station being attacked and the last few survivors rescued. They also find they are fated to be with the aliens who saved them. The pull to mate is strong. The alien world is mind blowing and now they are trying to figure out what's next.Well worth reading.
Book one in the Ka’atari Warriors series by an Author I have not read before, I want to read the next book. Kiran and Cora's story had me laughing as I read there is danger, suspense and adventure, and romance. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I am hoping for more installments of the Ka'atari Warriors soon. Kiran and Cora will have more of a story as other books evolve. Definitely want to find out if Torvid will find love herself.
A great read! There is action, romance and humor. I loved Cora and her animal counterpart interactions. Can't wait to read about the other couples. I would like to read more about this couple. Now make sure Mouse gets a treat!
Loved, loved it! What an adventure this group of Earth women are on. Whew, Cora has found one hot alien mate. Kiran is lucky to have found a spunky, capable and sweet lady like Cora. Plus Torvid is awesome! Can't wait to read the rest of the series.
If it wasn't for bad luck ..but then every cloud has a silver lining.
Totally enthralling. Kept me routing for or shaking my head at various characters. Full of strength, courage and humor. Try it out. Myself, I just want to get reading book 2 ...Brak.
This story was lovely. Kiran and Cora were wonderful together. I liked the storyline, but the conclusion felt rushed.. even considering that, I'd still highly recommend this read!
