Stranded far from the ruins of the Terran Empire, Captain Janeway of the rebel ship Voyager has crowned herself Pirate Queen of the Delta Quadrant! Of course, the locals won’t give in without a fight—especially not scavengers Neelix and Kes. And who is this apparent Terran who calls herself Annika Hansen? Find out in Mirror Voyager’s amazing comic book debut!
On the opposite side of the galaxy from the Terran Empire, Kathryn Janeway has crowned herself the pirate queen of the Delta Quadrant. When the 'I.S.S. Voyager' finds a terran refugee named Annika Hansen, who speaks of a strange alien race called the Borg, it changes everything for her.
The artwork is very good and the story works well, such as it is. "Mirrors and Smoke" left me looking for further adventures of Janeway and her duplicitous crew.
Star Trek Voyager is my favorite Star Trek series. I may lose some Trekker cred but I don't care. I love every single minute of it. I love to hate some of it. I watch the show over again regularly. It is fantastic. The show never had a mirror universe episode and I didn't really miss it. It would have been cool but I couldn't see how it would work. Then, I saw this and I was intrigued. It took me a while to read it after I bought it because it is just a one shot. Comic books are so short that I have a hard time getting into them unless it is a series. It drops you into the middle of their time in the Delta Quadrant and just drops little hints about how they got their and what is going on in the mirror universe. The story was great. I don't really like the Doctor character in the show but I thought it was a good choice to use him as the catalyst for the story here. I was not a big fan of the art of this comic. Not that is was bad. It was beautifully done. Just not my favorite.
This comic gives me a better understanding of why comic book sales are not really doing that well. Too much of the comic is taken up by an ad for another comic and other things. The story itself is basically like a mirror-universe type of thing where Janeway and her crew are pirates, not trying to help the Federation in the fight they are losing (or lost?) against a Klingon-Cardassian alliance. The only thin I thought was fairly good was some of the artwork.
These recent mirror universe comics have been a mixed bag but definitely campily fun, and this Voyager edition was no different. I was not prepared for Janeway also in a sleeveless uniform in a Voyager that is still trapped in the Delta Quadrant, but this is exactly what we got. The story was shorter than I liked and I wish that Voyager had been given the mini-series approach that the other TNG mirror universe stories were like.
Very disappointed with this issue an way too short an not much of a story an there is no Borg! I guess there is no more issues involving the Borg. This is the only reason I bought this comic. MY ADVICE DON'T BOTHER WITH THIS CURRENT COMIC. Maybe more will come but for now avoid!
I always enjoy a good mirror universe story. Voyager (like TNG) didn't have an on-screen mirror universe, but it's interesting to see that even in the mirror universe Janeway and crew were stranded in the Delta quadrant. Faced with the prospect of returning to the alpha quadrant to fight a losing battle with the KCA, they decided to stay in the delta quadrant and become space pirates.
This was a great short story! Cool, intense characters, an interesting plot and plenty of action. Very well done. This mirror version of Voyager looks fun and exciting, and the plot actually feels dynamic instead of static. I hope there's more to come!
This was a decent story about the U.S.S. Voyager in the Delta Quadrant, but in the mirror universe. It's always strange to see characters act in the opposite way, but this was very true to the concept.
Fantastic art by Woodward! Story is perhaps not as good as other IDW Mirror Universe stories. Here the characters are evil to be evil, where others showed mirror universe just had slightly askewed ethics/morals but not evil to be evil. Also, Voyager is a pretty advanced ship for Rebels to build (they needed help building Defiant from prime-verse) plus Tuvok was seen in later DS9 mirror episodes and not lost in Delta quadrant.
Tolles Artwork, also, wirklich wunderbar. Aber der Plot.... Warum nutzen die das Mirror Universe in Romanen und Comics immer nur für sinnloses Morden ohne Plot?
I liked this. How can anyone who likes Voyager not like this? Everyone gets a little badass moment where they can shine. I just love mirror universe stories. The artwork is great, too.
Surprisingly good painted artwork. An amazing darkest timeline tale of Voyager as pirate ship, with a wonderful take on the Doctor and Seven's relationship.
This has the same painting style as the Doctor Who crossover and some of the TNG Mirror Universe stories. I think it was handled well here. On one hand, I do like that, compared to the TNG Mirror Universe stories, this is a succinct one-shot. On the other hand, I kinda would like to see where it goes from that cliffhanger ending.
There's also a 5-page preview of Star Trek: Discovery - Aftermath, and what I've seen of the art there really bodes well.
A great addition to the legends of the Federation ship Voyager
A fun inviting read that reimagines the Voyager crew and Delta Quadrant regulars in a much darker take that feels akin to the covert dark heart that runs through all Trek from the very beginning.
The Doctor, Seven, and Nelix are reconfigured particularly well. Additionally the authors choices regarding which Federation crew members make it into the story provide a few unexpected twists.
A very dark look at Voyagers sojourn through the Delta Quadrant. All of the characters come to play in this intriguing story, it leaves you wanting more.
