After being arrested and having to transfer to a new high school in Tokyo, Akira Kurusu is given the goal of rehabilitation and awakened to a new power—the power of one’s true self, a Persona. Using his Persona and the mysterious navigation app Momentos, Akira and his friends take on the role of phantom thieves, saving people from the twisted desires of those around them.
Volleyball coach Suguru Kamoshida's evil acts drive one of Akira's classmates to attempt suicide, so Akira and Ryuji resolve to bring him to justice! But to do that, they must infiltrate his palace and steal the treasure within to change his heart! With their Personas—avatars of their will to rebel—as their weapons, Akira and his friends make their way through Kamoshida's palace. But before they can make off with the treasure, Shadow Kamoshida finds them! Do Akira and the others stand any chance against Shadow Kamoshida's true might?!
Just like the last volume, this one was good. But it didn't feel as special as the previous. This volume had good art. But the dialogue wasn't as notable. The story does get pretty interesting, but a couple points seem slightly too fast. I'll say this book is worth three and a half stars.
I'm biased when it comes to these. I love the game so clearly I'm going to be a fan of the manga. It expands a bit on some of the storylines and gives Joker an actual voice and contribution to conversations.
Read- July 2020 - I think this was a stronger volume than the first, thing's were for sure made clearer in this volume and I'm quite excited for volume 3.
Warnings: mention of child abuse, mention of sexual assault, mention of suicide, body horror, physical violence
This volume concludes the Kamoshida arc - where, with the help of another classmate whose Persona awakens, Ann, Akira and Ryuji are able to defeat him in his castle, steal his treasure, and get him to confess to his crimes. During their mission, they used a secret group name to bait him publicly, which makes them famous in their school's circles, and after Kamoshida is defeated, requests pour in through an anonymous website to help them too. The four of them decide that they want to bring down other adults, too, whose egos have grown into palaces and who torment other people. But, to start with as a group, they go after one of the requests, about a stalker, and uncover another place in the 'other' world they go to in their personas, a communal palace; through that person, they come across a bigger target, a famous artist who is torturing his students.
I loved the addition of Ann to this story, because it gave more dimension to the story of the victim (who was Ann's friend) whose death started Akira's journey as a Persona. Also, Ann being a biracial girl, has her own character arc to break out of her meekness. The three of them make a good team, and I'm also amused at the cat deferring to Ann like a princess. Opening up the world with the communal space in that world, and the mystery introduced there was a good plot point for the storyline, as it hints at a larger central storyline that is being kept aside for now, while they tackle individual 'monsters', as it were. Looking forward to how they bring down another abuser!
Received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review from Viz Media LLC, via Edelweiss.
Looks like Ann join the fight with them - she's awaken her persona like ryuji & akira even Morgana given details about persona & palace stuff especially join the fight too. They're already defeat the first boss -mr.kamoshida(sport teacher) in the alternate world of desire so they're in their reality world to see what happened to Real mr.kamoshida n finally that pervert teacher finally been kicked out of the school. The phantom thieves gang finally celebrate themselves, some buffet for defeated the first boss. Morgana - seems mystery type like he can't remember about it n I wondered what is his real motive in this story, well that I will find out by reading through every volume. The old glasses dude who work as bartender - he's a nice guy but sometimes he's being rude when it comes to Akira's incident in the past & let him stay at the stored room but changed it into Akira's room. Akira's brings Morgana at his place but the bartender was curious so he go to Akira's room n take off the blanket from the bed n found Morgana who feel scared because of him. The phantom thieves make secret meeting at the rooftop - to come out their cool nicknames, details about palace & treasure. They're meet new character name yusuke kitagawa who I thought was ann's little stalker but turns out he was painter n want Ann as his model. Kitagawa guy master's(madarame) was a bad guy that nakanohara told phantom thieves about it n wanted them to save students like him from evil madarame. It's good thing Ann (panther) pick the quest of ex- boyfriend stalker. Mishima guy who make phan- site for the phantom thieves so they're can check people's quest n know real identity of the phantom thieves - especially he knows Akira's is one one of them. In my thoughts - how come he knows it, he only knows that Akira n ryuji talk to him about kamoshida incident n probably it's obvious to him - maybe. Extra bonus chapter in the end - ryuji, Anna & Akira play baseball - ryuji suggest to play it n ever got low score - the person will buy for them so they're play it, in the end Ann is the winner. - probably ask them to buy sweets cakes for her.

The plot thickens! Muhahaha. I actually like how this layers itself. Starting with them wanting to help people at their school, to people in general, and you can see how this can change the world. It's a very uplifting message that I really like. And the story doesn't feel rushed or that the characters are just jumping into something randomly to fit the narrative. They take the time to talk, it makes it feel natural in its progression.
Loses a star because I fucking hate Kamoshida and Mementos with a passion. Akechi appeared for like 2 pages but still slayed. I like how the fights are denoted in the manga so far, easier to follow than in other manga (sorry jjk). Akira is so silly and I’m enjoying seeing him as an actual character rather than someone I play in the game
While the art captured personas style, it feels like the game and characters depth is absent. Perhaps it is the extent of the game being squashed into volumes but the exciting feeling of Persona 5 feels a little less. However I still love this adaptation and will hope it remains enjoyable while finding its own portrayal of the original game.
So good! I love persona and I feel that these books are doing a really good job of putting the story into written content. I do wish it was a little more different from the video games, just so that I can get some more content. But it is amazing the way it is and I love it all the same.
Really enjoyed this sequel! It continues straight off from the first, and I love that a new character joins. I'm loving the friendship and finding more out about Personas and the world. I can't wait for the next volume!
fantastic, life-changing, inspiring, never been done before, etc. etc., but genuinely i love this adaptation, all the extra content and adjustments to plot and dialogue is making my heart very happy..plus the art is very cute
It is more of a 4.5 stars.I enjoy the manga because I have played the game. I am not sure if the people who just read the manga would enjoy it as much.
The reason it is not really a 5 star is I just picture the mc having a different personality then what they gave him in the manga.
Loving this manga series. It's hard to replicate the magic of a 100hr video game, so there are a few things missing, but hasn't stopped me from enjoying it.
