Alyssa Darlington is a popular and sassy, party girl, who wished she never attended her best friend's end of summer bash. Actually, she wished she didn't do a lot that night, the night that changed her life forever.

I'm more of a suspense and thriller reader, with an occasional YA sprinkled in, and I love that I got all three in Through Her Eyes. Figuring out who was responsible for Alyssa's fate kept me on edge. I had a few people pegged, but turned out I had it all wrong.

Through Her Eyes starts out with our main character, Alyssa, being at a party. She is really drunk and her best friend points out quite a few times she's not acting like herself. Alyssa ends up drunk and alone in a garage where she is assaulted and barely survives.

When she wakes up in the hospital, Alyssa learns that her vision is almost gone. She can see shadows and that's it. Once she learns this, she's set on revenge. Who did this to her and why? After that horiffic night she needs a 4.5 stars

I loved how this story was literally told through Alyssa's eyes. The author wrote this in a way that made me connect with her from the start. I felt for her and really hoped she would find her answers and be able to make peace with everything that happened. I can't imagine what it's like losing your vision, but I felt at times this was left out of the story. She seemed to adjust really fast and I don't know if it was denial, but I don't think the adjusting to that goes so quickly.

Through Her Eyes really kept me on the edge of the seat. I read it really quickly and just couldn't put it down. I needed to know who was behind her attack, because everytime I started to think I knew who assaulted her, something would happen that would make me doubt my suspects. What made this so intense were the flashbacks we got of the evening Alyssa was assaulted. As she slowly remembered things, the story became very intense.

Alyssa's friends are amazing, her little sister is adorable and the romance in this story left a smile on my face. I loved even though this story is really focused on finding out what happened to her, we get so much more. The characters are very genuine and learning to trust after such a horiffic event isn't easy at all.

The ending definitely left me shocked!! I did not see that coming, but I personally see it as a fitting ending. It's unique and I loved that the author dared to take a step like that. I won't say anything, because you really need to experience the characters and the ending for yourself.

Through Her Eyes is a very impressive debut book and I can't wait to see what Sophie Fahy does next! I definitely need more by this author. ...more

I was gripped by this story, the mystery and the excellent writing. ‘Through Her Eyes’ is a YA mystery that is hard to put down.

Yesterday I finished reading this debut novel by Sophie Fahy and I must say that I really enjoyed it.
This book is a contemporary YA mystery as a genre. It really was a real mystery till the end.
This book starts as most college books, with a party of course. The main character Alyssa Darlington is on that party and she is being restless and drunk, a real party girl. Unfortunately she was brutally attacked on that party and after that everyone is a suspect.

Through her eyes is an impressive debut novel. Sophie's writing transported me back to high school (for better or worse lol) Writing a mystery or a thriller where your reader doesn't guess the plot twist is no easy task. A few well placed red herrings kept me guessing until the very end. This ending is not for everyone but I think that fans of Behind her eyes by Sarah Pinborough will really appreciate how Sophie tied the story up. I love how the story is told literally through Alyssa’s eyes which makes you really connect with the character and I LOVE when I can connect with characters. The characters are lovable, there’s some romance, and it’s such a page turner. You really want to know if Alyssa gets her answers! And can I say that ending had me shook! Reading the blurb of this book I wasn’t sure what my experience of reading it would be like. I don’t tend to read a lot of YA contemporary, particularly those with a lot of party-centred drama.

I have never really related to party-girl characters in the past, probably because I was more the stay at home and read a book type of teen myself (You’d never have guessed right? Haha!).

THROUGH HER EYES is like Gossip Girl meets Thirteen Reasons. Thirteen Reasons because of the thought provoking content, the haunting mystery and the emotional gut punch it delivers. Gossip Girl because just like you daydream about Chuck and Blair, I found myself thinking about Alyssa when I was meant to be working! You’ll find yourself doing it too, trying to work out the mystery.

Alyssa starts her story at a party, drunk and out of it. She experiences a horrific assault and barely survives. When THROUGH HER EYES is like Gossip Girl meets Thirteen Reasons. Thirteen Reasons because of the thought provoking content, the haunting mystery and the emotional gut punch it delivers. Gossip Girl because just like you daydream about Chuck and Blair, I found myself thinking about Alyssa when I was meant to be working! You’ll find yourself doing it too, trying to work out the mystery.

Alyssa starts her story at a party, drunk and out of it. She experiences a horrific assault and barely survives. When she wakes, her vision is so badly impaired that she’s practically blind. As someone whose worked with victims of attacks like this I found her writing absolutely spot on. I think it’s a very difficult area to write and to represent. Yesterday I was reading an article about the “misappropriation of misery” and how easy it was to write something traumatic and have it come off as gory or not deep enough. Sophie has avoided all of this and managed to create a vivid experience through Alyssa’s eyes. I could have been reading patient notes which was both scary and a testament to Sophie’s writing.

The story is literally through Alyssa’s eyes and while she has a lot of the Gossip Girl typical teenager characteristics she also has a lot more depth to her. The trauma happens very early on and she’s thrown into how to cope with that, as well as having to adjust to her changing role. Alyssa adjusts quickly but teenagers do. Teenagers and kids adjust much faster than we think they do and they mask their pain far better than we think too. Have you ever watched one of those hospital trauma shows? I love ‘24 Hours In ED’ and when you watch it you see these kids suddenly crash. It’s because they appear well when they’re very sick until they crash. A kid that looks well can still be very unwell. Alyssa gives off the same vibe – she looks like she’s adjusted very well but underneath it there’s a sense of an impending crash just waiting to happen.

THROUGH HER EYES should be optioned by Netflix because it is an edge-of-your-seat, 2am-but-I-have-to-know story. You might as well read it on a weekend because you won’t be getting any sleep once you’ve started! I thought I had a good handle on the mystery at first, had a suspect and was confident in my choice...until I turned the page.

Alyssa has flashbacks of that night which are superbly written but don’t do anything to help me find out who the attacker was! It is really one of those mysteries where you never know until the last page and when you DO know it throws you. At the same time though, the attacker made perfect sense and having come from that world professionally, it was also sadly familiar.

I think that’s what I love most about THROUGH HER EYES (besides the brilliant writing, the great characters and the non-stop mystery that is) Her experience is so vivid and authentic. It reminds me of so many of the stories I’ve heard before and I think it should be recommended not only for young adults but for anyone who works with youth. We only have the facts as are presented to her through overheard conversations and blurry, fractured memories. Like Alyssa, we begin to doubt everyone. No character is safe from suspicion--not even those closest to her. Fahy has us second guessing every interaction and conversation, allowing us to act as a co-investigator. Could it be Charlotte, her frenemy; Tommy, her best friend; Conan, her crush; Ashton, the boy with whom she may have slept with That Night? I could not put this book down. I read it in one sitting. I loved deciphering each clue and mining each conversation. While Fahy input tiny pieces of foreshadowing, I was still rather surprised when the attacker was revealed, and she led me down many wrong roads, distracted by those red herrings. This book is perfect for teens who love contemporary mysteries with a side of romance. Overall, I thought this was a solid mystery and a stellar debut novel. I give it 4.5/5 stars. I'm docking it half a star because the ending can be slightly unsatisfying to some readers. I thought it hit home that life is full of possibilities and potential, but others may not interpret it as such. It may leave some frustrated readers. However, this book is so worth it, so if you like mysteries, go buy it or check it out from your library (or request that your library purchase a copy so you can borrow it)!      ...more

On the outside she has it all but underneath her perfect world runs an undercurrent of secrets and betrayals.

The story has received many glowing reviews and has been aligned with the star-studd Through Her Eyes follows Alyssa, a 17 year old, English ‘it girl’ living in America. The story has received many glowing reviews and has been aligned with the star-studded likes of Gossip Girl, Thirteen Reasons Why, Pretty Little Liars, and Riverdale. These kinds of comparisons are stellar, but also beg the question – so how is it anything more than a generic copycat? The answer is simple. Heart. The resemblance to these stories, books, and ultimately cult tv series can be seen from the off. Pretty rich girl, nasty ‘it girl’, the likes of Blair Waldorf, Ali DiLaurentis and Cheryl ‘bombshell’ Blossom come to mind when we meet Alyssa. But Fahy takes those predecessors and their stereotypes and adds something new. This author is one with knowledge and experience on an academic but also a personal front. This easily threads into Alyssa’s character and creates a compelling story from the off.

The attack and the mystery that unfolds takes the reader on a rollercoaster ride until the very last page. You won’t see it coming and you won’t want to. The suspense will eat you alive and have you up until 5am screaming ‘just one more chapter!’. I loved the unique storylines as well as ones that did draw me back to my Netflix bingeing days. Alyssa is complex and compelling, Fahy described her as a ‘marmite’ character and I am inclined to agree. I still don’t know if I will ever like her, and what is most interesting to me individually is that despite this I can support, justify and defend her as she navigates her new capabilities and all that she uncovers in a bid for revenge.

I strongly recommend this one if you are looking for a twisted, turning, compelling mystery. It might be a bit of a guilty pleasure if you think you’re too old for the teenage world, but that’s what makes it so much better! I received an ARC copy of this book. The mystery that is weaved throughout this novel, kept me on the literal edge of my seat. Fahy does such a fantastic job of keeping you guessing through the entire story and hits you with an unforgettable ending!

Think Pretty Little Liars but with a much better ending.
This novel follows the devastating impact one wild party has for seventeen year old, Alyssa - a British born beauty growing up in America. THROUGH HER EYES is a debut novel by a debut author, @authorfahy. This novel, published by Blossom Spring Publishing, offered a complex premise with a sassy protagonist as a YA novel with edge. As I read it, I found myself thinking about the edginess of Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher mixed with whodunit quality of a suspenseful mystery. Fahy keeps us guessing all the way to the end and then hits us big time with a whopper of an ending.

This is an impressive debut novel.

For starters, I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about this book. I though the romance was too fast, and some things were a little unbelievable. However, the last chapter was so sad and definitely shook me to my core. Writing a mystery isn’t easy, but the red herrings kept me from guessing the true culprit until the end. Within the first couple of chapters Fahy is already tugging on my heartstrings. To see how masterfully she plays with emotions so soon in her debut novel is truly a delight to read. Right from the beginning Alyssa is a character who is hard to like yet intriguing despite the prickly personality. I'll be honest here, I loved how the story was narrated. Usually when it comes to mysteries they all go the hardcore way; opening up old cases, going out on your own to find the culprit, bending laws to suit one's taste etc etc, but here Alyssa stays low-key and the pace at which the story moves forward is perfect. Warning!!! Do not open this book if you're stuck for time!! You cannot put it down! The author sets the scene and the characters extremely well in the first chapter.
