Usually, I love Shayne's books. They were always exciting, full of action and they told a consistent tale that I was always anxious to read more about.
However, this book doesn't do that. For the first time since I started reading Mr. Silvers's books, I was lost and confused throughout the book. The storyline kept shifting from one crisis to another, with very little seeming to be solved, or, if solved, solved quickly and with very little satisfaction.
I'm not quite sure what happened with this one. I don't know if he's burned out on Nate and just ready to take a step back, or if he has some massive plan in mind that got a little lost in the prepping of it. But something definitely went wrong, and it translated itself to this book.
Now, that doesn't mean that I'm sorry I read it. Not at all. I'm glad I read it, and I'm sure I'll be even more glad when Nate returns in 2020. Right this moment I may be confused, and I may not like where we were left, but I trust Shayne to get it together and bring us back on track when the next book comes out. Until then, I'm looking forward to the new series. Perhaps we all need a break from Nate.

I’ve been reading this author almost since the very beginning. As such, it’s really hard to say something I haven’t said before, but I’ll certainly try. I’m always amazed at how each book is just so good, I can’t help but keep reading to find out what is going to happen next. And there are so many threads from other books that the author pulls together in each book, I don’t know how he remembers and can do all that. No matter. We the readers get the benefit from the devious and clever mind of this author. Nate Temple isn’t a great guy, but he is a good guy trying to be a savior to everyone in his life. This book has all the trademarks in the previous books: great writing, intense action, wonderful characters, and overall a rip-roaring good time. Try him, you’ll like him. Highly recommend!

Not sure how I feel about this book. The writing is interesting, but they are still not really going anywhere. It’s almost like tires spinning over and over in the mud and not going anywhere. Don’t think I cared for Nate too much in some of this book.
I only read this series because of the Feathers and Fire series. That’s the main one for me. Don’t mess with Callie. Have to force myself to read the series with Quinn. Only skim through it in case anything helps the series move forward. I do like Nate overall though, and was hoping he would go in a certain direction. Looks like that’s being taken away though. Not happy. Will probably still see what he has in store for us. Looks like a long wait though.

So I have to say there were parts of this book I struggled with. It felt a little like being in a car with a driver that kept accelerating only to stand on the brakes a moment later. That isn't to say it's a bad book or that I didn't enjoy it, it just wasn't ..... smooth somehow.
Not sure I like where things are going with Callie, really need to get your ducks in a row there Nate! I really hope it doesn't go tits up like the previous Psycho.
I did get some full belly laughs from this book, I would expect no less from Silvers, however in amongst all the action it threw up more questions than answers and I am really hoping that some of these get resolved in the next book, which yeah I will be reading.

Wow, this amazing book will keep you on your toes! So glad I put my feet up and got comfortable, because I was hooked on the first chapter and didn't want to put it down. This book brought out so many emotions; I was intrigued, surprised, thought oh no, followed by astonished and of course can't forget the laugh-out-loud laughter. It's amazing the trouble Nate gets into and the incredible ways he thinks of to escape the many dangers. This book is action-packed with adventure, danger, suspense, magic, wizards, gods, mystery, Horseman, discovery, friendships, battles, surprises, secrets, humor and lots of twists and turns and more. I can't wait to read the next book!

Strikes a Chord
Ascension has just risen to the top spot of my all-time favorite books! I found myself grinning and busting out laughing on countless occasions, earning more than my fair share of side-eye glances, and also choking back sobs as some scenes hit so close to home it felt like Shayne had held a mirror to my soul. I don't know how he does it, be it wizardry or voodoo, but the Master Wordsmith just keeps plucking my heartstrings as each book speaks to me more and more than the one before it. Ascension will help you rise from your ashes, rise to meet your challenges, and rise to accept and become who and what you must be.

What is Nate Temple up to? Why is he keeping secrets and telling lies? Ah, well, if I told you that, what would be the point in reading the book? I won't spoil it for you. This book had me going from "What the...?" To "Oh, I think I know what..." to "Ah, no, I have no idea!" And I was thoroughly impressed. The ending is a proper cliffhanger, with plenty of excitement promised in the next Nate Temple book. I genuinely cannot wait to see where the next story leads.

He created a <#$%^&*> supernatural heist movie! And it is an absolute riot.
You get the signature roller coaster, with all of its highs and lows, as Nate & crew have further dealings with Asgard, fallout from Knightmare. The story kept me gripped to my device, laughing and cursing aloud to myself. Well worth your time.

Shayne needs to wrap the saga up. The books are increasingly felt phoned in and jump around a bit. This book is par for the course for Nate Temple, but it just lacks punch. There's a lot of action, but very little in the way of exposition.
This series is starting to feel a lot like Michael Anderle's Kutherian Gambit series where it drags on far longer than is needed and as a result the story drags on and on when it could have come to a satisfying end much earlier in the series.

I have tried to come up with a review worthy, or at least acceptable, for this book. I can't. It is quite simply, spectacular.

This book feels more like 'Young Adult' fiction rather than something older readers will like. Having said that, I found it reasonably entertaining.
The plot is a bit convoluted and first time readers may well feel as if they have entered the conversation part-way through. Fans of Norse mythology will find a lot to like here, especially as Silvers does not take himself too seriously.
The protagonist is a lot of fun and the pacing is exactly right - not too fast and not too slow.
The ending was a bit disappointing in that it basically says 'to be continued' rather than being a satisfactory conclusion to the story that has just unfolded. Not properly ending a novel in this way is bad form which is why my rating is 3 stars, rather than 4 stars (it was 3.5 and I've rounded down).

My least favorite book so far of the series. Took me forever to listen to it. The last few books, the guy reading them hasn't been doing a good job. He read the first 10 books or so really awesome, he changed his voice to how and what he was saying, he would growl, squeak, yell, whisper and speak excitedly when it called for it. It was almost like graphic audio - it was awesome (to me). Now, he's speaking in a monotone voice, just above a whisper, with no infliction in his voice whatsoever. It really sucks. The books are still good, its just hard to listen to now, since it was so good before. I hope he goes back to how he was reading them-he did an awesome job!

Nate seems to always be getting into some kind of trouble or picking a fight. It seems like he’s going in a couple of different directions in this book. He’s mostly been working with Alukard and leaving the rest of his friends out of his business. His godchildren have been born which is a very interesting turn of events, Nate has been making deals with some unlikely people, and he found Carl. I was surprised at the ending of this book it is a little bit open ended. That is not normal for this series.

Absolutely love this series. All maniacal action.
Nate is so much more then just a wizard, who has drawn a team for so super interesting characters, werewolve as a best friend, a cat that's also Fae and a killer, the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse, a Day walking Vampire that is just marvelous. An Elder that most of the supernatural world feared. Above all they a loyal to each other over and far beyond mere friendship..Wise cracking pranking friends.
Just get the full series cause you won't want to stop reading without knowing what happens next.

Ok so many things happened in this book. There's a couple of people saying here that it felt too fast and etc.., that's Nate for you! There was more then a couple of dramas happening at once but it probably just builds up so you can see it on the next book, Shayne knows what he's doing.
I was really bummed about the whole Callie thing to be honest, very harsh, Callie is the freaking best and excuse me "kara who??" NOPE!! Not happening!!

Classic Shayne Silvers humor, devilishly wicked characters, interesting and exciting story telling, you really can’t go wrong with this series.
I have lost count how often I burst out laughing while reading this book. Not just a smile, a full out laugh! But don’t let that deter you from the very present action packed thrill ride that you will be a very willing passenger to.

Big dogs, little dogs, big squirell, doughnuts, witches, a Valkerie, Yggsdrasiil, and well it's a long list. Confused? It all makes sense as the story unfolds. As much sense as anything in Nate Temple's life makes sense. Hopefully the next book comes out soon because hanging on a cliff for very long sucks. You hear that Shayne Silvers?

Excellent read
Well, I am still a little speechless and frankly in a hurry to head over to the next book. Cause I need to know what happens now. A bit closer to the edge...
This one definitely took a weird turn, but it was still an extremely good read. I don't really know why I'm bothering to write anything, as if you're already this deep into the series, it's doubtful that anything I say is going to influence your mind one way or another, but I liked it.

Nate Temple is a character for sure!
I choose 5 stars because as the title goes I would like to know wht he ascends to its odd to to have him he title just peak at the end, but I do love cliff hangers I am ready to go on for the next one keep up the good work,I do love that you add humor to this "heh".

another amazing novel!
I don’t often read a series this long, because I start to lose interest or the story gets stale. Not so with the Templeverse! Each book is as good as the previous one. The characters grow, the plot deepens, the humor remains, and the magic continues to get more creative. Thanks Shayne!

Loved it!
Ascension: Nate Temple Series Book 13 is a non-stop thrill ride off multi-verse proportions. I only regret reading this series too quickly and knowing that it's bound to end. Thank you, Shayne Silvers.

Slow and Boring
Not the greatest book in this series it was not up to the normal standard of the Temple series it seemed a bit pointless. Maybe it will make more sense later but at the moment it just feels like let's just do a story with no real reason.

Fun, snarky and twisty
Characters as always ..well written fleshed out and fun. When I can laugh out loud and smile through the book and feel like I am right in the center of the chaos.... its a great book
