Tattoo artist, Robyn Anderson, is left reeling when a break-in at her studio sees valuable artwork stolen just days before her much-anticipated gallery exhibition. Her studio’s trashed and her nerves are in tatters.
Following a brutal hold-up, security guard, Casey Nankervis is suffering from PTSD. Relegated to basic duties, she’s also battling intense boredom. However, when assigned to security detail at a tattoo studio, desire replaces her monotony.
Although sparks ignite between the two women, Robyn is left confused and guilt-ridden. Nina, her girlfriend of four months, does not deserve disloyalty. Casey is also conflicted: something doesn’t add up about Nina, but is she just jealous?
Betrayal is taken to a whole new level in this page-turner from Ellie Spark.
Books in the Love Stories series are long novella length (35-45K words) and contain fade to black sex scenes. While some characters do appear in multiple books, these Love Stories can be enjoyed in any order.
And finally Ester... (one for the older UK readers!) it's like saying au reviour to a good friend, who you know will always hold you & look after you. Thank you, Ellie - love the series.
Basically— just another good, enjoyable & interesting read in a good, enjoyable & interesting series.
The storyline's plot gives this a refreshing very entertaining feel. Very enjoyable with nice flow, interesting narrative & relatable characters made it an easy read.
Page after page, loved the book more and more. It is hard to tell, which book is the best...but at this moment, this one is exceptional!! I cannot wait for the next one, which sounds really good too.
Twists in this next book of the series were unexpected but appreciated. This series has been enjoyable so far and I look forward to the next one by Ellie Spark.
I read this pretty much back to back after reading Love Undercover, by the same author. I enjoyed this one just as much!!
I would still definitely classify this as an easier, light hearted read. While there are some themes that are less lighthearted (references to cheating & ptsd, for instance) they’re—glossed over is the wrong word, but they aren’t really explored with a lot of depth. Though, that’s not to say they aren’t treated with respect.
One thing I’m noticing about the author’a style, though, is that she does a lot more telling than showing. Personally, I don’t have a problem with that, especially in easy read books like these, but I know it can bother some people, so I thought I would mention it :)
I recommend this to anyone who wants a light read with a guaranteed happy ending!
I enjoyed this story. Great characters, nice pacing, and a believable tale. My only issue was with the lack of sex which isn't normally a problem but when the synopsis says "fade to black sex scenes" one would think you would have even gotten them close to that point. But nope! Never were they even put into a situation like this so that was deceiving. Let's not mention that fade to black sex scenes are horrible anyway. This is not a children's book. Other than that. Great read.
Oh my goodness! I so enjoy reading this story; tattoo artist and security guard meet after a burglary. The characters internal musings are insightful and give the short story purposeful depth. I wasn't too thrilled with Robyn's total buy-in to her girlfriend's need to protect her and watch over her. The outcome was somewhat obvious and I read patiently to see how the story's strings would be neatly tied. Read the book for a one-sit reading adventure.
Good, original story line, though characters are a bit implausible
Any book I read to the end gets at least 4 or 5 stars. This book barely made it to 4. The plot is what kept me interested - it shows a lot of originality. But the main characters, a security guard and a tattoo artist, don't do the plot justice. They're adequately drawn but often seem like cardboard figures on an elaborate set.
This is a cute slow-burn romance which includes some mystery. A betrayal is definitely a good word for this title. I don’t want to ruin the ending but will say...no worries, there is a good ending. This is a story that’s short, easy to read, easy to follow...so if you are on a trip and there are lots of distractions this is a good choice. In addition, it’s part of a series. Perhaps these characters will show up again?
I’m a huge fan of the Love... series by Ellie Sparks - her charcters are well developed and multi faceted. The story is light and easy to read and is a typical feel good story with a bit of drama and romance and friendship. I would highly recommend to read this story and to read all the other ones from this series, which are all standalone stories.
I thought I figured this out very early on, and I did, so I was impatient for the story to "get on with it" already. It was moving too slow for me. But I stuck with it and I'm glad I did. I love happy endings and this story has one. I have would recommend it if you aren't as impatient as I was.....if you are, hang in there with it anyway.
👭 Entertaining and a twist of unusual to the plot😊
I enjoyed the story and its combination of FF romance, a lead with an unusual skill, and a bit of criminal mischief, though there wasn't a lot of mystery to the identity of the culprit.
I read a complimentary copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
I love the story from the beginning when Casey first enter the tattoo parlor and she meet Robyn it was attraction from the get go.and then she had a bad vibe from Nina the moment she meet her so did Robyn best friend and girlfriend didn't like Nina because how she was acting.
Short(ish) and sweet. 10 out of 10 would recommend. This is the first of the stand-alone series by this author and enjoyed it immensely. A love story with an actual plot, other than the typical "Gay character meets straight character, they hate each other, then fall in love".
I loved this book in fact I have loved all the book in the "Love" series. I loved this book on how they met and the trama they both suffered and how it made them strong and ready for real love.
I totally enjoyed this book. The storyline was excellent and I loved the chemistry and trust between Robyn and Cass. I also really loved that the book made a point to show people who do tattoos are truly talented artists.
These stories always end well and there is always some tension around various things in a story but this book has more for me than the specious in the series. All this amounts to a great ending.
A fun little read that goes quickly, almost too quickly. We get to know the characters but are left wanting to know more of their story. Enjoyed and would recommend.
