NEVER AN AMISH BRIDE is the first book in the Honey Brook series. While reading NEVER AN AMISH BRIDE I became emotionally invested in all of the characters. They are all flawed, real and lovable! Once I started reading, I was instantly hooked. I devoured every page and couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next. This not so typical Amish story is filled with secrets, faith struggles, small town gossip, but also love, family, and second chances.

I quickly flew through NEVER AN AMISH BRIDE

I am so happy to discover this is the first book in a new series – I can’t wait to read more about the folks who live in the delightful Amish community of Honey Brook, a cozy town in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. One of those residents is Esther Miller, who is currently struggling with her faith and her place in the community after the untimely death of her fiancé just weeks before they were to be married. When she sees Jacob’s older brother, Lucas Brenneman, she can’t resist tryi

This book felt so real, whether Amish or Englisch, could be any family. I even had a teacher who never married, she had lost her fiancée, so very sad.
The author gives us a young man who is a Physician’s Assistant, and has a lot of compassion for his fellow man, and we see him going the extra mile. Now he is working in a town he left ten years ago, and struggling to reunite and forgive his family.
Esther and Lucas seem so perfect for each other, but there is a big obstacle between them, she is bap

First in the Honey Brook series, Never an Amish Bride, is written by Orphelia London, a newcomer to the Amish genre, is a delightful visit to Honey Brook Pennsylvania, near the well known Lancaster Pennsylvania.

It is Gott’s will, if Esther Miller hears that one more time she’s going to lose it. After the death of her fiancé, Jacob Brenneman, just a few short weeks of their wedding, Esther struggles with grief, even after the 7 years he’s been gone. With no one to talk with, it almost becomes mo

Esther Miller loved her fiance but he died. He had changed after he visited his brother and she doesn’t know why but he seemed to get super strict with their religion and rules. Now she’s trying to figure out where she fits in. She’s not a youngie anymore but she’s not a widow really either. And she has to help her sisters as they get married and move out.

Life gets increasingly difficult when she runs into her fiance’s brother who has moved back to the area. He’s a PA and now practising at the

Never An Amish Bride is a beautiful tale of second chance love, forgiveness, and family.
Ester Miller is a woman doing her best to move on from what can never be.
As symbolized by the unworn wedding dress that still hangs in her closet.
A dress that she is determined to let languish in darkness. Along with her memories of her late fiance, Jacob. And all thoughts of the life that they could have had.

But as the wedding date for her sister approaches. Ester's feelings of loss a

Cool characters and an awesome plot! I also loved the theme of love, acceptance and forgiveness.
I'm giving this book 5 stars because I've had such an enjoyable read out of this.
It made for a peaceful evening when everyone else was asleep. I got to visit my Amish world once again.
In my opinion, this story is also about hope. No matter what a person has done or what has happened to them.

Readers will be delighted with this charming romance between two people who are dealing with shaken faith, loss and loneliness. I couldn’t help but love Esther’s character. She’s the first Amish heroine I’ve ever read with a spunky personality and fiery temper that may cause her to hurl items at the hero in this story. And I simply adored Lucas. He is a Gilbert Blythe among men, as Esther fondly thinks of him.
This book was delightful, relatable, and very tender. Sometimes we all need the remind

Never an Amish Bride is a captivating love story written by Ophelia London. Never having read anything by this author before, I wasn't quite sure what to expect but I enjoy reading the Amish genre and this one did not disappoint. The characters were realistic and relatable. Esther, struggles with her faith since her former fiancé died and wonders if being a wife and mother is ever going to be in God's plan for her life. This is not your typical Amish Romance. It's a charming tale of second chances, family ties, secrets, and a bit of gossip. The characters are flawed and their struggles with faith and other things are very relatable. I think that is what makes this such a good read. We follow Esther who has lost her fiancé and is having to help her sister's wedding planning. She struggles on feeling how she can fit in with her community now and the thought of her younger sister experiencing a wedding Esther was never allowed to have. We also follow Lucas who left the community at age 16 and has never been back until now, 10 years later. As the first in the Honey Brook series, I can’t wait to read the next installment! Unlike a lot of Amish novels that seem to carry the same theme, this one I found to be uniquely enjoyable and engaging. Ophelia London introduces characters who feel real, all struggling with familiar issues, whether Amish or English. I loved the subtle interaction between Esther and Lucas and how they helped each other learn the powerful art of forgiveness. The saga of Esther’s soap-making was so descriptive, I f ...more

What I Loved:
Can I give a book more than 5 stars? I loved every word of this story. The two main characters were adorable together, and I loved their relationship growth.

My Synopsis:
Esther Miller lost her fiance, Jacob, two years ago, and she’s still mourning him. Her wedding dress still hangs in her closet, and her heart is not open to others. She spends her days helping her mother teach the children, and making soap to sell in an extended family member’s store.

Of all the Amish novels I have read, this most-definitely ranks up there as one of the best!!! This is my first Ophelia London book and trust me, I will be looking for more.

The character development is spot-on! The sweetness of the story mixed with the Englisher vs Amish love triangle is perfect! I literally didn’t want to put this book down! I wish I could give it TEN stars!

So thankful I could preview it and I look forward to reading more!!

This story was oh so good!! Lucas and Esther captured my heart right from the beginning and the more I learned as the story progressed, the more I cared about what happened to them.

These two had amazing chemistry between them, even at the very beginning, as they began to get reacquainted as friends. But there were so many things that seemed to stand between them, beginning with the fact that Lucas was no longer part of the Amish community of Honey Brook. The author did a great job of bringing ev

Beautiful Amish book with it's focus on God, family and hardwork. I liked Esther and how she took life in stride despite the situations surrounding her. Her relating with Lucas at the beginning was strained but I liked how she put effort into knowing him even though she grew up with him. At the beginning I didn't understand the situations surrounding Lucas but later on it became clear. I loved Lucas. He was quiet, loyal, sacrificial and kinda. It was hard for his pain not to become mine.

I LOVE Amish Fiction and have read many Amish Fiction Books. I can honestly say this has to be one of the BEST I have read!

I really enjoyed that it was not the total typical Amish Novel. The main characters of the book, Esther and Lucas, really tell a good story. Esther's fiance, Jacob, dies a couple of weeks before their wedding. She has struggled with her Amish faith for years, since his death. She wants to trust and believe and be able to move forward in life, but she doesn't know how. She h

Ophelia London is the perfect author to write an Amish romance. The main characters wrestle with real struggles about faith, family and tragedy. I was rooting for the characters to find joy in life after loss. Being Amish doesn’t mean there’s a lack of exciting romance. Put this on your list of summer reads!

After two years, Esther is still mourning the death of Jacob, her betrothed. The book is filled with happenstance meetings between Esther and Lucas, Jacob’s brother. Lucas has returned home after ten years away from his Amish upbringing. Esther in her struggle to let her feelings for Jacob go, resisted those emotions for Lucas. Very predictably, however, Esther and Lucas fall in love.

This story is written at a simplistic level that should probably be read by a young adult audience. Esther is twe
