The bestselling author of the Dead Is… series is back with a snarky, hilarious take on the vampire romance novel.

When my best friend Skyler told me about this party in the Hollywood Hills, I was less than enthused. As it turned out, my feelings were more than justified. That party ruined my life.

Tansy didn’t even want to go to the party. It’s hard enough living in one of y

Join Tansy as she embarks on a road trip with her friend/crush Vaughan. They’re following a band that’s on tour, but not because they’re groupies. They’re trying to save Tansy’s best friend, Skylar, from the clutches of Travis, the band’s lead singer. Travis is a vampire that’s been feasting on Skylar.

The first in a planned trilogy, The Afterlife of the Party sucked me in straight away. (See what I did there? 🧛🏼‍♂️) I felt like I already knew Tansy, Skylar and Vaughan, and enjoyed hanging out wi

I had fun with this book! I like vampire stories so I decided to give this book a try. I hoped to find an entertaining story within the pages, which I did, but I did really expect to find a unique tale with a good dose of humor mixed in. I found this book to be very entertaining and I am glad that I decided to pick it up.

Tansy goes to a party at the start of this book, along with her best friends Skylar and Vaughn. Skylar's boyfrien

"What was a group of vampires called? A gang? A bite? A bite of vampires. I liked it. Fear was making me silly."

**A big heaping hug to Entangled for giving me a free copy in exchange for my honest review.**

I love the fact that vampires are back. I know, I know, they never went away and blah blah blah, but you know there was a really long lull after Twilight, Vampire Diaries, and True Blood ended. There were some smaller titles, but nothing really hit as big as the aforementioned. There are now s

I told you that vampires are coming back in 2020! 😜 I can't lie: I'm excited The Afterlife of the Party because it's a vampire book. And, once again, it's also a book about strong female friendship and we need more of that. Females are friends, not rivals.

I don't know how I finished this book. I was soooo excited to read it but it was so not well written. I felt like I was reading conversations between 13 years old. Even 13 years old are more insightful. Cliche lines were used in cliche manner which were not fun to read at all.

I had high expectations for this book. Sad to say it wasn't even an average. I literally skimmed pages, because I didn't want to dnf it.

This was the fun and lighthearted paranormal read I needed right now. It's easy to root for Tansy's adventure to save her BFF and the slow-burn romance brewing between her and Vaughn is entirely swoon-worthy. Looking forward to the next book in this series!

Marlene Perez brings a fun take on the vampire lore we all know and love with her newest book, The Afterlife of the Party! When Tansy's best friend falls in love with a vampire, she and her friend, Vaughn, chase after her across the country trying to rescue her. This was definitely a story that runs on the lighter side of vampires, so it's the perfect read if you're

"The first rule of the hidden world is you don't talk about the hidden world."

Skyler, Tansy, and Vaughn are the three 🧍🏼‍♀️🧍🏽‍♀️🧍🏼‍♂️best friends that anyone could ever have (I hope you sang that). Sky and Tansy connect over their absentee, NOT cute made for TV/Disney mothers. Vaughn is gorgeous 🥰 on the outside but growly and cuddly like a teddy 🧸bear on the inside. But girlfriend, girlfriend, girlfriend! He's off limits. 🙅🏼‍♀️ Maybe. Skyler had apocalyptically bad taste in music yet somehow

The Afterlife of the Party, by author Marlene Perez, is the first installment in the authors Afterlife trilogy. 17-year old Tansy Mariotti ends up attending a party with her best friend Skyler Avrett to see a band called "The Drainers" whose singer she's fallen in love with. Since best friends tend to make sacrifices for each other, Tansy ends up going to keep Skyler out of trouble. But, things aren't as simple as they seem.

*This book was sent to me by the publisher to give an honest review in return*

This was not my type of book sadly. This book is about Tansy who goes to the party with her best friend, Skylar, who is now sired to a vampire. Tansy and Vaughn go on a trip to get her back and try to bring the vampires down. The writing for this book was just not for me. I felt that the plot structure wasn't done well and that the story was kind of everywhere. There wasn't much of a world-building or anything but smal
The Afterlife of the Party is the first book in the Afterlife series by Marlene Perez. The afterlife of the Party is a young adult paranormal romance with a great dose of humor added in. This is not your typical vampire story and I loved it! I cannot wait to read the next book in the series and in general, read more books by Marlene Perez. This book, and trilogy is going to be great for fans of young adult paranormal like enjoy lighthearted fun reads. It's like a paranormal rom-com, with a slow ...more

This was sadly not my cup of tea.

The positive is that I was interested enough to find out what happened. I read the whole book, there were moments I really liked and I was really into the book.

Negative, the writing style just wasn’t for me. Several times throughout the book the character kept repeating herself. It made it obnoxious to continue. It lacked real feeling for me, I couldn't connect to the characters in any way. At some point I thought the characters could be redeemed but nope they

Witches hunting vampires… I LOVE IT!! This story is adorable in all the right ways! I like that there doesn’t seem to be any veil between the human and paranormal world in this book. The fact that the two worlds mingle and intertwine and even interbreed is entertaining. The depths of the love between the main characters is almost shocking. They would literally do anything for one another, making the scenes feel as real as possible. I recommend this fun read!!

With a fun dance between magic, vampires, bffs, romance, and a pinch of quirkiness, this is a light read with a dark beat.

After being dragged to a party she never wanted to go to in the first place, this teenage girl finds herself heading against a band of vampires, who leave death and blood in their wake. Unfortunately, her best friend is on her way to become their super-groupie with more than a few bite marks to show for it. Add a strange past, a witch grandmother, a hot guy, and a pair of ver

We are in October, well more like the end of October. And we all know what this means, right? HALLOWEEN SEASON!! Sorry got a bit too enthusiastic there! “The Afterlife of the Party” is the perfect Halloween read if you still don’t know what to read for these last few days of the spookiest month of the year. Everyone knows that we need a lot of distraction from our daily lives and I do think that Marlene Perez did a great job at doing so. I enjoyed reading her book. The book is full of scary vamp ...more

Overall I enjoyed this book! It was a super quick read, I started and finished it in an afternoon.

What I liked:
- this book heavily focused on friendship, with Tansy and Vaughn going to great lengths to save their friend!
- Vaughn! Cinnamon roll character and hottie with a body 😘
- vampires! I’m a sucker (HAH) for a vampire read, no matter how cliche.
- fast paced. I love a good fast paced r

This was such a fun trip back to the classic teenage, paranormal adventure. I loved how easily this book sucked me in and kept me there. It is quick paced right out the gate and keeps your attention the whole time. I did find a couple parts to have been “quick, auto-resolve” moments but it didn’t take away from the story. I love how Tansy is willing to do whatever it takes for her best friend and even other girls who are “less nice” to her. Pitting girls against each other is not my fave, a

Tansy's best friend Skyler gets involved with a vampire emo band called "The Drainers" and it's up to her, the guy she secretly fancies and her witch Granny to save Skyler from their clutches!

A fun concept with alot to like but also some writing issues that holds me back from giving this a higher rating. I really liked most of the characters, Granny and her coven of sassy OAPs were hilarious and I loved the relationship between Tansy and Vaugn. I would have liked to learn more about Tansy's abi

For starters, I enjoyed the heck out of this book. It was a super fast and enjoyable read and I liked the light, road trippy nature of the story. It did feel a little campy and cheesy at times but I found myself flying though it because I was really enjoying the banter between the characters. I’m looking forward to checking out some other titles by this author, and I’m thrilled vampires are back in YA!

Thank you to the publisher for an e-copy to review. All opinions are my own.

I was excited to read this one because it’s very much something that reminds me of my teen years. It didn’t disappoint in that aspect because emo bands and vampires. Hello, 2008!

There were certainly things that I did like about this book. One of them being how easy it was to get hooked. It was definitely quite hard to put down at the beginning. I also liked that Tansy and Vaughn would do anything for their friend Skyler.

This was as if you took Jennifer’s Body and the Coldest Girl in Coldtown and mixed it together, but amped up the campiness and toned down the action and it definitely has a younger vibe to it. Sadly for me, this did not turn out how I was hoping it would. The story revolves around Tansy ( a witch), her crush Vaughn ( recently broken up with his gf), and Skyler ( recently dumped, party crazy, and in a new relationship). Skyler makes Tansy go to a party to meet Skyler’s new boyfriend’s band, and t ...more

The Afterlife of the Party Marlene Perez an over excitable five-star read. I had a hard time coming up with a rating for this one, as it was a bit marmite for me, I loved it then I hated it and then I loved it again, and was like that the whole way through. It was funny and dramatic, but then it tried to hard, I finally decided on five-stars as I really did enjoy it overall and cant wait to see what chaos will ensue in the follow up story. Vampires are officially back in The Afterlife of the Party. This book brought back so many memories of devouring vampire books almost exclusively in high school. I had so much fun reading it! It’s full of drama, action, and a lot of fun humor. It was really fast-paced and I could have read it in just one sitting if I had set aside enough time when I first started it. I definitely plan to continue the series, and I can’t wait to continue Tansy’s story.
