As I read the book description to this book, I wondered how many people had past hurts and issues happened to them that still lingers deep in their heart. As I read the book, I realized that so many more than I could have imagined was in this category, myself included. There are so many real life stories in this book, and these stories made me want to keep reading to find out what the next persons story is. But most if all, this book was an eye opener for me in some area

As you think about all of the various people who have crossed your path or have impacted your life in some way, shape or form, are there any names, faces, or situations that come to mind that leave you feeling hurt, angry, bitter, betrayed or ashamed? Are there people who cause you to experience a negative emotional ping every time you see them? Are there people who – no matter what you try to do to forget them and what they’ve done – somehow manage to take up permanent residence in your head?

As believers we know that we are suppose to ask for forgiveness and many of us do but deep in our heart we still feel that anger, hurt, and many other feelings that anger manifest that is so toxic to us. We have all been there and sometimes some are harder to let go of.

The book has several stories of people who have hurt in their life. The stories share their walk of forgiveness. All the stories are different and share their walk of releasing, forgiving, and healing. The stories cover everything

The subject of forgiveness has been written about since the earliest days of communication, as in the old Christian Bible stories. Authors Dana Tibbitts and Patti Goldberg, take a refreshing look from their own religious and spiritual points of view, but use plenty of biblical scripture and stories to illustrate their insights.

They deliver an overall message of love and hope for recovery from our own unhappiness caused by holding onto old hurts and feelings. Their message is about he

I have to admit that this book has been a struggle for me. It is amazing how God uses everything in your life for your own good, and it all comes at exactly when you needed it most. Thank you to the publishers for a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinions. This book has been an amazing way for me to personally work on anything I have been holding onto, and I know it will help you too. Each chapter is designed to guide you and not preach at you. There are personal stories and ex ...more

As I read this book, I found myself rereading almost every line. The statements found in this book are trans-formative truth, communicated clearly with insight that very few books on this subject possess. The book is much more than a theology self-help book. It explores deeper spiritual principles in a way that is profoundly personal, highly practical and liberating. As I worked through each chapter, names of friends and loved ones came to mind. Few of us escape the toxic emotions of injury and ...more

As a girl growing up, I can remember a lot about my paternal grandfather. I remember as a little girl how he would take my sister and I to the boardwalk in Wildwood, NJ. At the same time, I also remember how when I grew up, he used to keep a little black book of all the wrongs anyone did to him. It made him so angry and unforgiving. I have to wonder if he had offered forgiveness instead of holding onto the anger how it may have changed his life.

Off the Hook offers words of wisdom that everyone c

I won’t! I can’t! They don’t deserve it! It’s not my fault. I’ll never forgive them!

We tell ourselves all kinds of things to manage our pain to free ourselves from its grip. Trying to manage offense is not freedom. Off the Hook is more than a book, it’s an experience of learning how to walk out the gift of forgiveness. We may not be able to control the hard and sharp sides of life, but we can chose how we respond and reach for the gift Christ offers at the cross. I highly recommend this timely

The concepts presented in Off the Hook are powerful and have been life-changing for me! The new insights I've gained have helped me to see that forgiveness is an ongoing, spiritual transaction directly between me and my Lord, rather than with the offending party. This has been a paradigm shift in my previous approach toward forgiveness. I am learning of the power of the spoken word as the way to take my desire to forgive from intent to action, using my voice to articulate my thoughts directly to ...more
