The book that I have been reading over the past week or so that I want to talk about is Animal farm. This book was made by George Orwell in 1945. It was written to make fun of Stalin and how everyone that helped him got killed if they said one thing out of line against him or turned into a direction other than his own. The book is about animals that have just broken free of control from the farmer that was using them and killing them and how they will survive for themselves to overcome every obstacle in their path. “At this there was a terrible baying sound outside, and nine enormous dogs wearing brass-studded collars came bounding into the barn. They dashed straight for Snowball, who only sprang from his place just in time to escape their snapping jaws. In a moment he was out of the door and they were after him. Too amazed and frightened to speak, all the animals crowded through the door to watch the chase. Snowball was racing across the long pasture that led to the road. He was running as only a pig can run, but the dogs were close on his heels. Suddenly he slipped and it seemed certain that they had him. Then he was up again, running faster than ever, then the dogs were gaining on him again. One of them all but closed his jaws on Snowball’s tail, but Snowball whisked it free just in time.” i thought this scene was very interesting and spooky part of a page of the book because snowball was my favorite character in the story because he had a very interesting character to learn about when he was still in the farm and also the part was interesting because how quickly this story changes from calmer to chaotic in the matter of seconds. Another reason that I chose this part was because it shows how Stalin was to people that had a different idea about different things than his own and how people can spread so much false information to each other if one says or has more power than everyone else. Some people that I think would like this book are people that like books that are more making fun of a group of bad people or a book about how things in the past would probably feel if we knew what was happening. One reason that I chose this book was because my brother had this book in his room and he said that he liked the book a lot and the last time I read it did not really stand what was going on in the story. Another reason that i reread this book was because i remembered this book to be packed with information.

I only added the SparkNotes because the version of Animal Farm I read was included in the same book with 1984. But, I wanted to count them as two books. So I'm counting the Spark Notes in lieu of Animal Farm itself.

That being said. The SparkNotes were really helpful in helping me understand the historical significance and events that are referenced in Animal Farm. I never had to read this book for school, so I wanted some idea of how the allegory paired with real life.
