This was a cute introductory story to teach young kids about soldiers, and a little bit about what they do.

If you have a classroom with military kids, or are near any sort of military installation, this is probably the best picture book I have seen About the army. The casting is diverse, which is positively essential when discussing the military, but the explanations are pretty phenomenal. For example, the page about tents and how soldiers will sleep in them, but only when they are out training or deployed was literally the first time in a kids book that I saw that distinction made. The book explains different military vehicles, what people in the military do, stuff about uniforms and metals and just is all-around a very kind and gentle introduction to the army that surprisingly doesn’t revolve around mechanisms of violence (if this is something you were trying to avoid in your classroom)
