Give someone an inch… Was it suicide or something more sinister? That's just one of the cases occupying Jill's mind. Meanwhile, what is Winky so upset about? …but don't give them your custard creams.
This series is always going to be brain candy, but it's moving back towards its charming roots. It was in a slump for a few books, but it's enjoyable again.
Another Jill Maxwell story that left me more confused than usual. She uses magic when she shouldn't, doesn't use it when she should. Is still rather nasty to her husband which I find disappointing, can see where other's (especially the twins) are going to fail but still gets taken in by scammers herself and what was all the stuff about aliens about? Am I going to continue reading the series...heck yes! Jill has a brother, imagine where this can go.
This is an entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series. They fun caster characters and an entertaining storyline. Jill Maxwell is a private guy who lives in the human world and is married to a police detective. She also happens to be a witch and spend her time split between the human world and the magical town where some of her family on the witch side live. She solve cases in both worlds. The character tends to make comments to herself every so often which is kind of humorous but she is a determined individual with a quirky talking cat that lives in her office a crazy grandma among other family members. Her adopted sister is human lives in the human world and is married with two kids there. She lives most of her life in the world with her husband. Read back to the beginning if you want to know more about her origin story. Check it out
Jill has found out she has a brother and she's set to meet him. (That could be good news or bad/dangerous news.) There's more taking advantage of Jill's inability to see a scam that's being played on her. A question of a guy's murder or suicide. A singing telegram service run by werewolves (with its own problem.)
Winky's up to his old money-making schemes. There's a problem with Mrs. V's Armi, a complete brat kid, space aliens, a tiddly-wink contest, another 'brilliant' idea by Amber and Pearl, a problem for Winky, a flying broom display and some possible immortal thing for Jill.
It's a pretty good addition to the series. Winky for once has a problem for himself and the idea of Jill's brother could go anywhere.
Jill discovering con artists seems to be a theme in this book. Lots of different cons going on, but Jill uncovers them all. But there is also a lot more going on. For instance Jill goes flying in more ways than one. She also gets very musical. I always enjoy her antics and the way she gets herself into, and out of, situations. Jack is becoming a bit more fun with his new hobby and his collaboration with Jill to catch a bad guy.
Here kitty Kitty Jill has a little debunking to do
Deaths in threes. Wiley Gargoyles.brothers husbands and .com men leave Jill up in the clouds. She is flying around or up on the roof for most of this story.
Witch Is How To Fool Cats (A Witch P.I. Mystery Book 34)
This was a very good book how ever I do wish the author had done more to make it more interesting. I look forward to reading more of this author's work.
Absolutely wonderful characters that interact with each other beautiful! Fabulous plot twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend this series.
I love this series. I love that Jill isn’t perfect that she can be petty and childish but she’s got a good heart and willing to help others, mostly willing. lol It’s been a great escape during the tough last few years and I’m so thankful I found these books.
This book is filled with fun filled adventures. The gutter geese (which is obviously a scam), broom flying competition, researching 3 possible suicides, not to mention her niece disappearing. A very great read!
Witch is how to fool cats by Adele is so funny with Winky and Jill. Jill stays in trouble most of her life. She can tell some great lies. She lies like a Pro.
Miss Abbott has a spectacular way of writing her Witch P.I. novels they are fun and you can get lost in the book reading. And Winky is a character all on his own
Adele Abbott #40 With PI #34 Another cracking yarn in the Witch PI series with a number of loose threads to be tied up and more intrigue to come! Roll on book #35!
In this book, Jill has to figure out what is true and what is too good to be true. Winky and Grandma are their conniving selves. The twins come up with another scheme, and Jack just goes along with the flow.
Always entertaining books. A bit too easy to predict, but that's expected by now - and there's always some new "meat" to these books that keeps them entertaining. They're the perfect read for a mom on the go, who has 5 minutes at a time to read.
Paula Green's husband John takes a dive into an empty swimming pool. Jill investgates. She finds that there are two other similar cases in the last few years. Very rich people suddenly decided to kill themselves.
Winky sets up a new business venture-Catfizz, a feline energy drink. But there's a problem.
Lizzie is seeing ghosts in her new house.
Someone is sabotoging a sup singing telegram service.
Jack has gone bonkers over model trains.
Jill meets her brother, who grew up apart from her in an alternate version of Candlefield.
And Grandma bullies Jill into joining her flying broom troupe.
Adele is leading us into another story arc and I think "Something Wicked This Way Comes". The reference to Ray Bradbury is intentional. That's what comes to mind with this new arc. Winky is adorable and devious, as always and I also love the unrepentant Grandma. What a hoot those two are. Of course, now that I have caught up in the series, I have to wait for each one to be published. Oh wait, there is one more to read, Book 35, "Witch is How to Lose Big", then I have to wait for April.
It was well worth waiting for this book to come out but they are such short stories and all I want is more and more of Jill and company. So ok I guess I have to wait for the next book. Thanks Me Abbott😁
The cases that Jill solves are always interesting, and sometimes hilarious. I am wondering more about the wood nymphs. Also what is going on with Lizzie and the new house! I'm intrigued.
