I was twenty-one when the gypsy read my future:

As punishment for your crimes, you will only love one woman...but she'll never love you back.

I didn't believe a word of it.

Until I met Sofia Romano almost ten years later.

I fell hard for this woman. Would die for this woman.

But she left me.

Now years have passed and Sofia needs a husband. Her father is gone and her mother is trying to marry her off to a man that can protect their family, protect their company.

She's looking for someone powerful.

Check.

Someone rich.

Check.

Someone handsome.

Double check.

Now it's my chance to have the only woman I've ever loved...and I'll make sure she feels the same way.

I have a lifetime to make that happen.

The fact that she was the one using him for sex and he was the one that wanted a relationship was so good. We love that for her 😌

Its written really well as in the grammar and the point of view are spot on. The plot seems good enough. Buuuuuut it just falls flat. It seems a bit impersonal, like there isn’t much that is given away yet all there really is to it is two strangers who want to fuck each other. Not much of a sub plot or anything else really. It feels like the heroine hadn’t grown much, even though she went away and got an ‘education’ and became a big girl who ‘shouldn’t be living with her mother.’ Ugh. And don’t even get me started on the fake ‘feminist’ reverse psychology bullshit authors like this one tend to put on their female characters. You know, the whole reverse psychology, ‘I don’t want a man’ but really ‘I want A MALE to give me brownie points for thinking and acting and fucking like a man.’ Yawn! A real pick me! The hero was supposed to be a bit dangerous and mysterious but he just seemed a bit replaceable to be honest. Nothing big or bad about him. And yeah, I prefer my heroes to have alpha cavemen abilities but only if you can pull them off. (sue me) Not everyone can, honey. He’s literally just whiny and boring. DNF.

Penelope Sky's last couple of series have departed from her previous ones (Scotch, Buttons, Lingerie) and this one does it again - he falls for her and she only wants a physical relationship. Hades is pretty standard Penelope Sky antihero (gorgeous, well built, ruthless, murderer, criminal, but not heartless) but Sofia is not the compassionate tender-heart that the previous heroines have been. Sofia has hardened her heart and set her path and wants no deviations. Sofia and Hades are like oil and vinegar - they don't mix well but are great with each other. Lots of physical contact, as they two cannot keep their hands off of each other. A fascinating story that brings a touch of mysticism (the prophesy), a heavy dose of horizontal mambo, a dash of terror, a big heaping of heartbreak, and a shattered view of the world. These characters grabbed my attention and I cannot wait to see where this series heads.

I want to thank Penelope Sky for offering me a chance at a review copy of this book. I really do love her storytelling (I will admit that I do skip over the steamy scenes to get back to the story quicker). The Lingerie series (especially Griffin and Bosco's segments) is my favorite, so far, but Hades is fighting his way up. Looking forward to what is going to happen next.

Well, well, well...
What I say about this book?
I started reading the book and didn’t see this coming. The male character was so strong, gentle and caring, and I thought the female character was so meh in this book...
But I loved everything!!!!

Well the synopsis/ blurb for this book is certainly misleading. That plot point doesn't come up until the last few pages of the book. Almost all of this book is just them having a lot of sex over a month or 2 and him wanting a relationship while she's just not interested. Nothing ever progresses, they don't really talk to each other, they don't have any plotline they work through. And because almost all of their interactions are with each other, and they don't ever actually talk to each other about anything but how much they do or don't want each other, I as the reader, never get to know or care about them.

So basically my feelings ranged from bored to annoyed while reading this.

This is along similar lines to the authors previous work but a bit different.

The Hero knows she's his future but she doesn't believe in good relationships.

To me his actions after they break up just prove that her feelings are correct.

He is an anti hero, his business is drugs and it includes violence.

Although he has the capacity to be good to her he can also be cruel when crossed.

Ends on a cliffhanger, rumour is although two books are listed it will be three.

For the safety gang.

There are no intimate details of anyone other than the Hero and heroine but on a break up he is with others, though no detail.

They are not together and he doesn't think he will be involved with her again so he's free to see another woman but the heroine sees them leave together after kissing etc.

Obviously from the blurb of book 2 it gives the impression he will be with other women during their separation of two years.

Dual POV.
Breadcrumbs dropped about a friend so options of more to the series.

Reread - Countless times

-I unconditionally love Sofia and Hades whole story. They're so good together, it makes me cry happy tears.

-The moment they met I could feel their intensity. And their first kiss gives me butterflies whenever I read it.
Hades saying, "Alright, baby, just one" during their first kiss when Sofia pulled him into her and kissed him (LOUDLY SCREAMS). Oh God it made my toes curl so hard. Him calling her BABY was everything. This man fell for her even before he knew.

-I love how confident and strong Hades was 🤭

-Sofia annoyed me sometimes but i know that's cause of curse so I don't blame her (anymore).

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Whenever Hades called Sofia *Baby* 10 years added to my life span.
Whenever Sofia grabbed the front of his shirt and pulled him in for *Kiss* I felt immense happiness.

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
I never get tired of them, they're my most favourite.

So this my first Sky book and I like the whole gypsy business and dived in... but I'm not sure I liked what I read. The book is sexual from start to finish, the story in itself is interesting but I didn't buy the behaviors of the characters.

This is a summary of the whole story... don't read if you don't want to.

The story starts when Hades is 21 and goes to Morocco with his best friend to celebrate, they see a sign for a fortune teller and decide to enter, she tells his friend some random stuff about his future life, love, and money. But when it comes to Hades, she asks his friend to leave so she can speak to him alone. She tells him he's got a dark soul, he'll get all the wealth and power he dreams of and more. He'll do horrible things, kill people and then God will punish him. He'll fall in love with a woman who will never love him back, he will marry her and they'll have two children but no matter how much he loves her she won't love him back, and that is his punishment. He tries to laugh it off but the gypsy knew his name.

Years pass, he becomes a mafia boss, a huge distributor of narcotics and drugs lives in Italy and rules. One night, a friend of his throws a ball in his hotel, he attends and is attracted to his daughter who's 18 Sofia. Sofia is bold, smokes, beautiful and wants to live like a man. She dreams of running the hotel one day and wants independence. She just wants to be different than her mother, who is in an abusive marriage but thinks it's better to be with a powerful man than fighting in the ugly world.

Sofia and Hades share a heated moment in the ball and she goes off to college, after four years, her father dies and she returns to run the hotel but her mother and stepfather are against this. The hotel is a coverup for mob activities and no woman can run it unless she is married to one of the strong mob leaders... here comes Hades.

They start dating, more like fuck buddies, and he wants more, she doesn't. He gives her an ultimatum, they break up, his heart is broken, she just doesn't care. The ending is that her mom tells her she made a deal with Hades after two years of their break up and her stepfather's death that she will marry him for the freedom it will give her to run her father's hotel. She agrees, and the book ends.

Hades is immoral and so is Sofia, he thinks he is fair and good and only "kills the bad guys". I find that mafia books are filled with such guys and relationships... of making sins normal.

I enjoyed this brand new series from Penelope Sky. The story was written in a way that captivates me right from the start. Hades and Sophia's character is endearing with witty dialogue; the love and hate relationship will make you root for them to be together already. Such an unputdownable book. I can't wait to read the next book.

Okay, i am totally, completely, unconditionally in love with this series.
This is my first read by Penelope Sky and I'm ready for more.

The first thing that got my attention was the book description. I was beyond intrigued, then a friend posted a quote from the book and that's when i knew i had to read it, like yesterday.

And now i met one of my favorite characters, Hades Lombardi. Yes you heard me right, his name is Hades as in God of the Underworld. How can you not love him???

Hades was a bad man, the kind of man that your mom told you to stay away from. He was strong, powerful, feared, dark. He had a warning sing above his head that reads: DANGER, STAY AWAY.
But of course you can't. And Sofia, oh my goodness I LOVE HER. I totally have a girl crush here.
She is perfection. that's the only way i can describe her. She is strong, sassy, smart, hot, she's literally the perfect package. I love the way she keeps Hades on his toes, the way she stands up for what she believes in no matter the consequences.

I love everything about their story, and can't wait to see how things go for both of them. So far I'm in love with this series ❤.

I got this book free on Amazon and at first I was really enjoying it. It was refreshingly different to see roles reversed for a change. Sofia told him right from the start that she was only interested in a sexual relationship with him and it was Hades that was constantly pushing for more. When he pushed her too far, she broke things off.

However, when Sofia wanted to resume their sexual relationship, the author completely flipped their roles. Hades told her that she would have to literally get down on her knees and beg his forgiveness and she did it! Even after they got back together, he told her that he would hold a grudge for a very long time and continued to humiliate and punish her.

I stopped reading after that; I would give it negative stars if I could.

This was scorching hot between Hades and Sofia. This was all about fucking from beginning to end and not much else. That’s where I was a bit disappointed as I started to skim through the steamy scenes to get to the more interesting parts as not much really happened over the many years this book took place. We see some glimpses of Sofia’s life but not much about Hades’ life other than his criminal activity. Hope the next book has an actual plot the drives the story forward and more character development. It was well written and I did enjoy the story and can’t wait for the next one - just need more! 3.5 stars

The title and the cover make absolutely no sense because the heroine is not a wife and she doesn't get engaged. This going to happen in the next book. Why this odd choice ?
Well the heroine is Italian but we have no idea about the hero or his friend ? Why do they speak english ? Hades and Damien don't seem like Italian names but we have no clue.
And the author have no clue about Europeans. Jesus, why do all Americans think we drink alcohol like water ? The heroine is an alcoholic at 22 yo, drinking at breakfast, barely eating (because yeah that's how she keeps herself thin if we go with the hero's reasoning). She's not likeable at all. She doesn't stop talking about how strong and independant she is but easily bends to her family or Hades. That girl (because no matter how the author considers Sofia to be a woman, she's not) doesn't have a backbone to save her life.
Hades is not as alpha male as I like. He's a bit whiny, insecure and boring. Why ? We have no idea because the author doesn't care at all about her characters development. No backstory at all.

Basically it was a fail. Not badly written but lack of chemistry between the main characters (Hades is obsessed with Sofia and I felt no sparkles while reading.) and the plot, for now, is nonexistent.

Oh.mein.Gott.

Penelope Sky is a good author to me, unfortunately this one....same old same old....Hero in this books is yummylious but the heroine...keep on being cold back and forth, back and forth. What fantastic about their relationship is the 'fucking' @ almost every chapter....and repeat and repeat. Lol.
Wish there are more depth and originality like her previous series. But since its Penelope....I will move to 2nd book-Husband and hoping its more!

Ummm no. Idk why this has a 4 star average.

The relationship feels completely forced (not in the good way, like they’re trying to say oh it’s an intense love but there is zero connection). There are multiple super long time gaps which make the forced relationship and lack of connection even worse.

It’s just not a good read.

"He was the hunter, and I was the hunted."

Freaking insanely beautiful.

From the very first chapter, you would be gripped with the intensity Sofia and Hades share. Their chemistry was off the roof. So carnal, so love.

"I fucked her like a whore but loved her like a soul mate."

I loved how a tale of Gypsy was added to the mix- it made the story more delicate and ...may I say- magical? I loved, loved, loved Sofia’s character, she shone single handedly but with Hades- she glowed. He treated her as a queen and she didn’t even know it.

The way Hades loved her was immensely alluring.

"I was pussy-whipped. Obsessed. Infatuated. I was a whole different man because of this woman. I was a man I hadn’t thought I was capable of being. And I liked it."

Now I see why this series has such a good rating of 4+ on every book- the author maintained her quality writing throughout the whole series and never the story never felt dull or fictional to be honest.

Highly recommended series.

Woah! Can't believe this but I am blown away!

This was way too enjoyable than it should've been and I was 100% ready to absolutely get bored and detest this story just 10% in..

But dayum..

This one is kind of pretty effing good.

I am all for a headstrong heroine but wowza was Sofia the single most dumb human I have ever read about. No, seriously, she's pretty stupidly stubborn because hello? You're forcing all that coldness, honey, it's clear as a day from your POV that you're head over heels. Nobody is that seasoned in being a stone cold frozen ass, emotions do not really work that way, or maybe they do, but her POV did not support her stance because come on, it was clear.

And Hades..

My my my.. Hades Lombardi, yes please. Everything amazing and oh poor baby. That gypsy did him wrong.
